I think this fight will happen maybe next year or the year after, tbh I'm not as excited about this fight as I used to be. Its too late now and both fighters are not the same anymore (as they were in their prime), they both are in late 30's and past their primes.
Whats your opinion?
I think it will do in the ballpark as May-ODLH/Alvarez. I know people on here want desperately to pretend Pacman is still the best, but KTFO6 destroyed that aura of invincibility. You can go around shouting to casuals about triangle theories and everything else, but at that moment Pac became clearly inferior to Mayweather in their eyes.
At this point I think there is finite amount of people who are interested in boxing, and we have just about everyone who would buy, buying for these huge fights. Still a huge fight? Most definitely. Obvious record breaker? Not so much anymore.
It'll probably be the most financially successful fight. In 2014, they're really the only active fighters that people who don't follow boxing care about.
I doubt it will be more culturally significant than say, the first Ali-Frazier fight or the Louis-Schemling. I don't see it transcending the sport of boxing and become a huge cultural event like those fights did.

It's a fight that should of happened in 2009 who ever wins Floydtards or Pactrards will blame their fighter was past their prime. Chickenweather is at fault for this fight not happening. Fight was signed for 2009 Mayweather faked a rib injury that started with A Side Meth crap
yes it will because regardless of what we say, how much pacquiao is past his prime... we will all still watch it. and considering that boxing fans never really stop being boxing fans... you can only gain more fans than lose :/.
only gets bigger, and as the last fight for both fighters, it will generate some insane numbers @_@

I said about a year or 2 ago that the fight will happen end of 2014 or 2015, and I guarantee it will happen next year as long as both guys keep winning.
Now, is it the biggest fight in history? Financially it may be but in terms of impact, hell no, Ali/Frazier 1 will ALWAYS hold that honour...or possibly Ali/Foreman.
That would be a SICK ending to both their careers as final fights especially Mayweathers record to be 50-0 he would have to beat Pacquiao!
Just hope Mayweather stays undefeated until then, or better yet Pacquiao keeps winning. Pacquiao has more chance to lose than Mayweather. Can Pacquiao keep winning until May 2016? Mayweather has 3 more fights left until May 2016, and same as Pacquiao
Flat footed come forward fighters LINE EM UP!! Maidana, Guerrero, Ortiz, Provodnikov, Rios, lmao keep may & pac undefeated until 2015/16

I think it depends on what you mean by "biggest", if you mean highest grosing boxing event money wise, then quite possibly because I believe a lot of people will still buy into all the hype and purchase tickets to the fight as well as the ppv at top dollar. But if you mean biggest as in the most meaningful fight in boxing history then in my opinion I would have to say no. I think far too much time has gone by and far too many things have happened and have changed from the time the fight was originally demanded to now for that fight to still be considered the most meaningful. That's just my opinion though and a lot of other people's may differ.

Still think casuals are a bit intrigued to see how it goes down kinda like lewis-tyson
Yes, this fight would EASILY outdo Floyd/De La Hoya and Floyd/Canelo to take the spot as the sport's biggest event of all time. As of right now they are still the two best welterweights in the world and both are top 5 P4P fighters, not to mention they are still by far the biggest stars in the game.
Even after all the years of waiting the hype would still be crazy, i really hope this is indeed the surprise Floyd has for us in May 2015.
