A lot of criticism has fallen on Floyd for his choice of opponents since moving up to 147 - so lets analyse his last 9 opponents.
Only 3 of them had been stopped before he fought them (Cotto, Ortiz and De La Hoya).
Moved up another weight class to fight 3 of them.
2 were undefeated at the time he fought them.
Mosley came off a KO win of Margarito. Ortiz had 5 wins and 1 draw post Maidana plus a FOTY with Berto just before Mayweather. Alvarez was tipped by many to crush Mayweather. Maidana had 4 strong wins (3 by KO and a battering of Broner). Guerrero was a mandatory. Cotto had 3 good wins including revenge over Margarito post Pacquiao loss.
Marquez win is tarnished due to the weight advantage Mayweather had.
Tough fight with Maidana and appears to be giving an immediate rematch - credit or discredit?
Apart from Pacquaio (ideally after the Mosley win) what/who is missing from his resume?
Yeah man Floyd is such a coward! He should of fought the loser of Mosley/Margarito. He should of fought the loser of Miguel Cotto/Clottey. He should of fought Brandon Rios. He should of fought Tim Bradley whose carreer highlight is a robbery decision. He should of fought the same two guys for the last 2 years and so and get KTFO while at it. His resume would be so GOAT omg
1) Nice how you ignored who I said that Floyd should have fought.
2) Floyd brought up that Clottey probably beat Cotto
3) The way Floyd fans analyze opponents, well, you shouldn't be criticizing Bradley.
4) If Floyd fought the best and got KOed, he would get more credit from me for at least fighting the riskier opponents.
.
Floyd fought guys that were hyped due to 1 fight but not for their true capabilities in their respective weight divisions. Sure, he can fool people into buying those fights but the truth is that they were far from elite caliber opponents. Furthermore, when you look and carefully analyze his opponents, except for the opponent's fan base and a few haters, very few gave them any shot at winning.
Floyd had to fight guys like Sergio Martinez, Manny Pacquiao, Paul Williams, .... when they were available and calling Floyd out. Floyd didn't for a reason. Too risky!

Ok so what about Floyd saying PAC has to take $40 flat while he keeps everything else?? And what about the you gotta sign with TMT?? Floyd saying the fight with Pacquiao would never happen if Arum is involved makes me feel like he would have always came up with something to **** it up.
What about it? You're talking about things that happened years later, after PPV #'s showed that Manny was a lesser draw and not to mention the KO heard round the world. As Mayweather said, there would be no even split after 2010. But that's neither here nor there...none of this happened during negotiation. During negotiation, Manny Pacquiao walked away from 50-50. Talking about crap told to the media or whatever really doesn't matter.
Well you can talk about more excuses if Manny agreed but the truth is, only one of them came up with excuses...only to do OSDT in Macau three years later. Let's deal with what happened and not what might've happened.

I've seen floydspastics attempt this thread hundreds of times and it just never works.....unless you're a floydspastic and can somehow block out the shame of it.
The OSDT was what broke up the deal. At the time Mayweather never asked anyone to do it before. Until Pacquiao. At the time I felt PAC not accepting was fishy but then came all the other excuses when they tried to negotiate again and that's why I feel like Floyd would have came up with something else even if Manny had agreed the first time.

The deal proposed for March 2010 that was 50-50 with OSDT.

Depending on what you think an excuse is, they've both had a million of them. What we do know is that when they actually negotiated, he proposed a very fair deal which was turned down.
What deal you're talking bout???
Floyd has had a million excuses each time that's why I feel the way I do

I truly don't think so. I think almost every move Floyd made from his return up until he fought Mosley -- both word and deed -- indicated that the man he wanted to fight was Pacquiao.
2010, definitely. I argued P@ctard style against Mayweather then, but that was because I truly believed the drug testing would end up not mattering and the fight would happen later that year. Pac's completely to blame for it not happening that time.
Since then? Pac's wanted it since Marquez 3, I think, but never enough to make the stand he'd have to. And Mayweather's made about half a dozen excuses since that first negotiation.

Floyd Not making the CW of 144 doesn't help
Agreed but ultimately...doesn't matter. Not like Floyd was ballooning to 160 and Marquez always comes in around 148.

I can't argue with you. My perspective is that Mayweather returned to boxing with Pacquiao as his #1 goal.
1. He announced his return by holding a press conference the day of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight at that same venue.
2. He announced his opponent would be Pacquiao's nemesis.
3. He offered step-aside money to Marquez if Pacquiao was willing to negotiate.
4. He immediately began negotiating the fight almost as soon as it became available.
After negotiations fell through and he had to fight Mosley instead, Floyd said he wouldn't do the fight for 50-50 and that he wouldn't compromise on testing. After his offer in 2012 was turned down -- and his position grew to ridiculous levels -- he basically said F-U Arum. It is what it is.

I disagree with you on that one.
I think they were more than happy to fight the guys they were for the money they were.
I think both parties weren't jumping to get the fight made.
Very clearly, and it should be held against both of their careers from 2010 and on. Almost every fight they've fought since has been a disappointment because they should have fought each other.
Only fights I don't hold against them are Bradley 2 for Pacquiao, and Mosley and Alvarez for Mayweather.
I think Manny has always wanted it more than Floyd.

They have always wanted it to me. Definatly more after the knockout.
