I hear a lot of people complaining about Floyd and Danny's next fights. So I have to ask if you guys were to only see ONE rematch which one would it be? Floyd-Maidana 2 or Garcia-Herrera 2?
Who do you believe tested their opponent more, who do you believe was more deserving of their victory? I say Herrera. I thought he clearly outboxed Danny Garcia and although Maidana gave Floyd quite a bit of trouble I did not see Floyd losing that fight.
Damn, I almost fell off the couch reading Bojangles gave Floyd any credit. you just might have made a fan of me.....Nah, you still crazy :) Somebody go check on Bo, something must have happened :)
Bojangles is always fair he's probably the most straight up guy on the forum.
I don't agree with everything he says but one thing he always is is fair and tells it how it is.
Based on competitiveness of the fight Herrera because he did better in comparison than Maidana. I think The Garcia-Herrera fight was more competitive than most people but it is still very hard to make a case for Garcia even getting a draw. Which is pretty much the reverse of Mayweather-Miadana where the challenger may have got a draw on the scorecards of his close friends and family.
From a marketing standpoint Maidana, no one cares much at all about Herrera so while hardcore fans may want that rematch the general public could not care much less while Maidana has seen his stature grow a lot out of just being competitive with Floyd.
As of right now it is Herrera. If Danny's team was smart, they'd have jumped all over Lucas who looked highly beatable in his last outing. If he got past him and looked good doing it, Herrera would have been forgotten in a heartbeat. Instead his team chose some guy, with absolutely no credentials to go fight immediately after a terrible performance against Herrera. Not the brightest move by any means.
Now unto Maidana, I know why he's getting the rematch and I understand it. The Floyd that struggled against Maidana is in serious, serious jeopardy of losing to the likes of Porter, Thurman and or Lara. Making Maidana 2 obviously the best option. Minor adjustments in training camp and Floyd should muster a clear ud. Over facing very dangerous, (more than Maidana) type of dangerous opponents like the aforementioned.
I guess Herrera, since most people thought he clearly won the fight. I didn't watch the fight closely enough to score it.
Only a handful of dumbasses pretend to think Maidana was robbed. He just made it close.
I'm not a Floyd fan, but...you've gotta be pretty damn good when people think just making a fight close with you is a big deal.
Why one or the other? They were both tested, Danny just straight up lost and Maidana made it close.
Yeah, but if you had to pick just one...I would have to go with Herrera.
I would say Herrera is more deserving of a rematch and it would be on regular Showtime. Maidana vs Mayweather will cost us 75 bucks to see Mayweather beat Maidana more convincingly then the first fight.
As far as picking a rematch if only one could happen I pick the Floyd-Maidana rematch because a Mayweather fight is so much more important than a Danny Garcia fight. I think Maidana has a good chance to win if the judging is fair and I would love to see Floyd lose before he retires. Both fighters deserve a rematch but Herrera deserves one more. Maidana put up a very good fight but I had him losing a close one. I thought Herrera won a close fight but he clearly won it by a couple of points. All boxers should be allowed to wear any legal gloves they want to wear. Maidana will wear whatever brand of gloves Floyd orders him to wear because that is the only way Floyd will agree to rematch him.
maidana give us some memorable entertaiment, i'll go with maidana. also there're glove issue that need to be solved.
You should ad polls to the thread!!
Herrera. He beat Garcia and got robbed, he deserves a chance to get his belts.
I like Floyd/Maidana 2, though. Maidana pushed Floyd harder than he's been pushed since Castillo, and fights like that should get rematches. Comparing the two situations, it's a reason that as much as I don't like and often hate on Floyd, I respect his ability. His worst fights are eons better than what a lot of champions are involved in. His cherry picks are at least #1 contenders and beltholders.
OBVIOUSLY Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera. That fight should of been either a draw or a split decision for Herrera. Danny & Angel can get the fucc out with that sht about you gotta KO the champion to win, bullsht. Danny "Swift" Garcia knows well he lost, that's why he is taking on Rod "Lightning" Salka, he wants his confidence back.
Floyd clearly won the first Maidana fight in my opinion.
Very Good post, I agree 100%
