I say its a bad thing if we are to believe floyd has never touched the canvas before (judah fight wasnt really a knockdown). If he gets knocked down and badly hurt this late in his career, i think he will have a lot of trouble recovering from a really bad knock down due to the fact that he never experienced it before.
He's been hurt and stunned before and he showed a great chin vs Mosley when he almost got KTFO but its still not the same as getting put on your ass with a good shot. Take someone like a marquez who has a lot of experience dealing with being cut and knocked down, he actually fights better after getting bloodied and knocked down. They say experience is the best teacher.
We all saw how floyd reacted when he got cut, how will floyd handle being severely hurt and knocked down if he has never experienced it before? I think its a recipe for disaster especially for boxers who are past prime and getting up there in age like floyd. If their bodies never experienced it before during their prime and basically their entire career, and they get caught with a great shot late in their career, it would be very hard to recover from.
It would shock their system and the body would just shut down and take forever to recover. Kinda like what happened to roy. Id be very surprised if floyd took the rematch vs maidana. We could have a antonio tarver ko in the rematch type situation on our hands.
I think a flash knockdown would startle him more so then anything especially if he got countered and put down that would have to mean somebody outthought the grand thinker and that would prbly make him hesitant. If he was hurt and got put down from a series of punches I don't think he'd shut down.
Reading the posts of Pacfarts in this forum ( including this poster), one would think that May's fights are boring because he is a runner. This fight showed the opposite.
This fight is actually one of my favorite Floyd fights contrary to popular opinion. The way he walked Zab down while breaking him down with body shots all while slipping shots coming his way was beautiful. Especially since up until that point, he never had to be a full on aggressor like that before.
you guys are completely missing the point over analyzing the judah was it a legit kd or not.
the point im trying to make is,
wouldnt it be somewhat better if floyd had been knocked down and hurt AND GONE DOWN ON HIS ASS before so that he has the mental and physical experience to deal with it?
yes, floyd has been hurt before. but he hasnt been hurt and down on the canvas.
not trying to hate on his defense which is great. im just purely talking about physical and mental tolerance and recovery skills from BEING HURT AND COMING OFF THE CANVAS.
stop talking about the judah KD. he wasnt really hurt.
Yea there was no "foot stomping" at the time of the knockdown, you can clearly see that at 40 seconds of the vid . Mayweather was dropped.
Yep. Beautiful counter right hook Zab threw. After that, Mayweather made the mental note to be in better position when throwing that right to the body. One of the few times he got out of position and paid for it. To the thread starters point, i think he meant dropped and hurt. This should have been a KD but Mayweather was clearly not hurt at all, just a balance issue.
Judah knocked him down

floyd gets so much hate. LOL at the guy making the video saying floyd got schooled because judah won 3 rounds early and it was that judah got tired not that floyd made adjustments.
Judah caught him with a nice little counter inside. Floyd wasnt seriously hurt, it was a balance thing with their positioning at the time of the counter, but yeah it was legit cause his hand touched the canvas.
But anyways, floyd would be fine if he gets dropped, every time his opponents have hurt him, they havent been able to follow up because he doesnt let them. He fights very smart when hes hurt. Thing he will have to deal with is that hes always up against bigger men, so when he does get dropped it will be against a guy 10-15 pounds bigger, he better make sure they dont land more after hes hurt, which they probably wont but floyd has to get old at some point, right?
I don't think you're a pacfart. :D
not at all
Sorry then for lumping you with such idiots like jr gong and their ilk. By the way, I'm also a Pac fan. A fan even before most of those Pacfarts became Pac lovers.
not getting knocked down is a good thing......it's a testament to how good your defense and chin is.
You are right but to some idiots, it's could be bad.

He has never been forced to do the booty dew which is remarkable, but he is pretty sound defensive, and even if he ever is he will probably go straight back to his defense which is the best thing he could do since its a world class defense.
I don't think it's ever a bad thing to not get knocked down. And are people forgetting gym wars. I'm sure he's been through it all, besides a flat out KO.
You have to understand. He spars like it's a fight. Not like a sparring session. By the time he's in that ring, he's as sharp as a razor, and the fights already been won in the training camp.
floyd has been down. he took a knee when he broke his hand.
he was also down in the judah fight, but it wasn't called.
corley hurt him. mosley hurt him. maidana hurt him as well.
if he keeps fighting, he'll eventually end up knocked out, the way virtually all of the greats have ended up.
breaking your hand and taking a knee is a lot different than getting your dome split by a powerful punch.
he wasnt really knocked down in the judah fight. sure judah landed a grazing hook but it was their foot getting entangled more than anything.
getting hurt and staying up on your feet is a lot different than getting hurt and having to get up the canvas and trying to recover the rest of the round.
completely different.
Against Judah, Judah hit Floyd while standing on his foot.
I didn't realize he was down as an amateur.
He was down vs the Cuban. Wasn't called. A lot of people don't consider it a KD but by rule it looked like a KD to me.
The Mosley shot wasn't a KD but I think that was probably as good as a KD. He overcame a lot.
More than anyone in history... :lol1:
I said "like". It wasnt a literal statement. Its kinda like Naseem saying that if he gets hurt then he's going to turn into a dragon, which he did

Funny how this is a defense of Floyd being knocked down, whereas when JMM uses that...its a tactic.
