It's not about disrespecting Rod as a fighter, it is about context and not respecting the fact that he gets a shot on the biggest stage that he has NOT earned!! If he was fighting some other fighter on ESPN, no one would complain about him. If ANYONE is being disrespected, it is the fighters that have EARNED matches and rematches against Garcia. They are not the victim of a few words on a Boxing web site, they are the victim of something that affects their career when an unknown is offered a shot that other fighters deserved. I'm sure Mauricio Herrera would rather have a few bad words spoken about him on NSB than to have some unknown get the shot that he earned. Herrera not getting the rematch is 1000 times more disrespectful than any spoken words on a web site. Nice attempt at cloaking your emotional outburst with an apology when the fact is, the body of the message had no apology whatsoever, it was just a poor, thoughtless lead in. You weren't apologizing to anyone, or on the behalf of anyone, you were taking a stab at Boxing fans, nothing more. And that outburst lacked any logic.....no mention of the fighters who earned the shot ahead of Rod, especially Herrera, the ones who were actually disrespected by this unknown leaping ahead of them. i have no beef with rod salka. get that money, and try your best to win fights, roddy. i have issues with goldenboy promotions making this fight. danny is the lineal champion at 140 lbs. i really have issues with GBP trying to act like this is a legit fight. that's insulting to the time i've spent following this sport.

Disrespecting somebody does include consistently misspelling their name. Most of the anger and comments should be directed at DG's management (not DG himself) for agreeing to take this fight. It is, overall, a very low quality card. If you don't like it, don't watch it (I won't). Just don't give Salka a hard time for taking his shot...

Danny Garcia opponent update Update: looks like the WBC has signed off on Rod Salka as Danny Garcia’s opponent as they are now listing it on their web page. Yesterday Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime announced that WBC/WBA super lightweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia was facing “Lightning” Rod Salka (19-3, 3 KOs) topping a world championship tripleheader on August 9 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. However, on their website today, the WBC announced that Garcia would be facing Gabriel Bracero (23-1, 4 KOs) on August 9. Barcero is rated #13 by the WBC and not rated by the WBA.
