What if Haymon put together on a card Mayweather vs Garcia (so Mayweather can win his 5th lineal title) Porter vs Maidana for the IBF title

I am guessing Haymon sees better match ups in his own stable.

Now I'm confused... The only reasonable explonation is that Porter was offered to fight Floyd in Septemeber. The timing's right.... I don't think Porter ducks Brook because, with all due respect to Kell, Shawn will steamroll him.

No one outside of Kazakhstan/Germany/Ukraine cared about Golovkin, Lomachenko etc 18 months ago. Brook likely isn't of that calibre but he's earned the shot and deserves a shot to showcase his talent. Who knows, he might lay Porter out, he has the power. and what power does brook have, he has not stopped anyone of any note....... even if he stops them its through accumulation

I don't think he's fighting Mayweather, but I do think he would give him a really tough fight. Can't see him KOing Floyd, he's not a big puncher, but I think he could outwork him. Porter is a very skilled pressure fighter, he uses his jab well, has good footwork and good speed, if he uses those qualities for 12 rounds, Floyd would be in big trouble. porter is definitely a big puncher, he just doesn't have the traditional trappings of the puncher. he's a very strong / explosive man. he can hurt you with the free hand. he's an extremely strong welterweight. it's not only the power / size that leads me to believe that porter would stop floyd, it's the style and the timing. that's what's important. porter has fast feet, and mayweather's legs are gone. he's too strong to clinch. you saw the maidana fight. you saw how bad floyd looked. what is floyd going to do with a much faster, bigger guy?

They could be trying to move this to Floyd's undercard trying to promote Porter as a future opponent. Maybe. There's no way they are going to give us Mayweather-Porter at this stage. It is a DUCK if they end up fighting a Lower Level Fighter instead of fighting EACH OTHER! Brook has signed the contract. Porter hasn't.
