Mauricio Herrera and Chris Algieri: the top two at 140?

Matthysse makes easy work of Herrera and Algieri. Matthysse doesn't stop throwing when he gets hit like Provo does, and he has show the ability to adjust unlike Garcia could not. this. matthysse's boxing is underrated, he has a good jab, he moves his head well, he can make adjustments. he will beat provo and algieri. i think he will fight postol for one of the belts that garcia will most likely vacate.

Nah, especially not Chris....he got a close (as far as points, not rounds) decision last night in his only fight against a top fighter. I picked Chris to win, because I thought Provo was/is overrated. Gimme another fight to make the decision.

Garcia is still THE MAN at 140

It was Danny Garcia before the Herrera fight which he clearly lost. There is no #1 right now, Garcia, Matthysse, Provodnikov, Herrera, Dulorme, Vargas, Postol, and now Algieri are all in the mix. I agree, there's no clear guy at the division. Garcia's wins over Lucas and Khan are probably the best two wins right now, but Herrera did beat him and has a win over Ruslan. I'd say Garcia and Herrera are the two best guys at the division with Matthysse at number 3.

I wouldn't be fast to say Algieri would beat Gift just yet. I'd love to see Herrera Algieri though.

140 is up for grabs. Danny is still the "man" because he got a gift decision vs Herrera.

He pressed the action, he had Garcia backing up, busted up, retreating. None of which Algeiri did to Ruslan at any time of the fight. I'm not saying Herrera didn't jab all night either, I'm just pointing out what Algeiri did to win his fight. That's because Danny is willing to fight going backwards and be effective, pushing ruslan backwards is how you get knocked out. Herrera didn't fight ruslan the way he fought Danny

140 is a mess right now. There are so many triangle situations going on. This is true although officially Danny Garcia is the man. Someone made a thread a few days ago where you had to post who you thought was the best fighter in each division and I said Matthysse. I am sticking to it. There are no truely elite fighters in the light welterweight division right now in my opinion.

lol what??? herrera dominated garcia in that fight, he's already proven himself to be the better fighter. you know there's corruption in boxing and that was an example of pure corruption, just like the pac vs bradley 1 decision.. it doesn't mean that boxing fans just have to accept it.. herrera deserves full props for beating garcia the f down and schooling him in virtually every round..
