This is a good fight, hbo just announced it for the ggg-geale undercard..
Great fight between 2 undefeated heavyweight contenders..
I like Jennings in this fight, Perez can be too stationary at times and I think Jennings out works him for a decision
As a Jennings fan I scored it one point to Perez but I could see it either way. I'm glad the guy without the gut got the benefit of the doubt. Jennings may not have impressed you but he just fought a prime guy with MANY YEARS more experience in honing his craft and took him close all the way, a guy that is unlike anything he's had to face as a pro and probably one who wasn't a good style match up for him either.
He works a day job and he did this with a guy whose life is focusing on himself in boxing. That's impressive. Jennings was having trouble adjusting to Perez and his high guard was not suited to Perez. He's lucky Perez wasn't in the mood to fire more straight lefts than he did. Perez seemed like he was BSing his way through a lot of rounds because he didn't actually want to work through them. I don't know what's up with these Cubans and their work ethic in the ring. How many Cuban defectors are volume punchers? I cannot think of one. The way the first round went I thought Jennings was going to be jabbing to the body more like he was and keeping Perez at range for straight rights but he never did follow up with those straight shots. Puzzled by that really. Almost all Bryant's offense was short stuff inside. Why? I mean, he's good inside but why fight a shorter armed guy inside like that without testing him outside. Those jabs to the body in the first round from long range looked like they were bothering Mike. Why not keep that up?
11k post...
I look forward to watching ggg's career unfold.. He is the best puncher I have seen since Tito Trinidad
I'm more than confident enough to say he eclipses Trinidads power.
With GGG style I don't particularly think he doesn't have long left, he has a very controlled manner and with the right training and dedication shown towards the sport which I believe fully that he has he can easily fight on at his best into his late 30s.
The boy is just very talented and I don't think anyone really would have thought that he'd have took out such a battle tested fighter that quick into a fight its not a question of not being in with good opposition its a problem of him making them look outmatched badly.
it's the same with wladimir klitschko. everyone calls wlads opponents bums after he KOs them.
but wlad is ATG and makes everyone look ordinary.
Totally agree with you, GGG just has far too much power for anyone to handle I'm just very happy I'm not the one taking his shots.
Try to understand that this "pay for punch" Guillin is not a money opponent compared to Cotto or Mayweather! Fighters fight to earn money they don't have a fan's mentality. This guy needs the best opponents and by best they mean "money draw"!
GGG is not 26 yrs old he only has so much time left to earn!
It's business not a "fan club"!
nite kids
both pronate their shots....both land but POWER is the difference!
Easy fight, I think Rosario has given GGG the best test
yeah Mike Ortega!!!!!!
We need Peter Quilling to give GGG a fight but the guy or perhaps his manager doesn't seem massively keen on this one.
I hope we see more and I definitely don't want to see GGG move down to 154lbs even If its for Mayweather this guy is legitimate he shouldn't drain himself for a big payday.
Well now we will have to deal with people calling Geale (Legitimate top rated MW fighter) a bum and chinny...
I'm happy for GGG but I want to see the lad get another big fight this year and how can anyone really argue for him being regarded as the FOTY?
