If Canelo can get past Lara with no doubt left in anyones mind, this is a bigger fight than anyone Floyd can fight right now, besides Pac.
We all know Floyd enjoys his seat not only as the top fighter, but as the top attraction.
Surely playing second fiddle to two fighters you already have defeated is not a good look for Floyd. Will his team realize this and make the Cotto fight; to go for the history, and the money obviously?
Am I wrong in my assessment of the potential magnitude of Cotto/Canelo?
Bro there have been like maybe 10 cards to ever pull in that many buys. Tad better than decent.
Your right but we still don't know what the undercard would provide. 1.7 may be a long shot but not impossible its a shame Mayweather got these Mexican holidays hostage.
Cotto vs Margarito 2 was a big fight, Mexico vs PR battle, and it did 600k buys. I know this Canelo vs Cotto fight its bigger, but i dont think it past 1m.
I think it would sell 950k buys aprox.
cotto is a bigger draw now, and margarito was never a draw, you cant even compare margarito and canelo... it will past a million no doubt... 1.5 will be my guess but wouldnt surprise me if they reach higher numbers...
Canelo isn't the ppv stud ppl make him out to be. Sure he got 2.2 mil with Floyd because they really captured the image of this undefeated young fighter who could handle Floyd for his first L apparently that wasn't the case and on the very next fight his ppv weren't even a quarter of what he made.
I'd say 1.7mil on a December month would be decent. With the Martinez win over the weekend it propelled Cotto's popularity and not that it means much but with Roach on the corner he gives him that extra shine.

Actual Question: How Many PPVs does Cotto/Canelo do?
Should have been the answers:
1) 750k-1m
2) 1-1.25m
3) 1.25m-1.5m
4) 1.5m-1.75m
5) 1.75m-2.0m
6) 2m or above. (never)

Agree. 1.2-1.5M.
Total success and an epic match up!

Everyone is in agreement for the most part that this will be a big fight and will outsell whatever Floyd does later this year.
Knowing Floyd being the self-proclaimed PPV king, and his selection of opponents coming off of the right type of win...Could we expect to see him instead in the ring with Cotto?
I see Cotto 2 as the right fight from Floyd's standpoint. Who is he going to fight for more money? Who has as much to offer (6th title in 6th weight class) and as much buzz as Cotto right now?
I would rather see Cotto fight Canelo, but it is hard for me to imagine him not getting the fight and having to watch two guys he beat, put on a bigger show than he will later this year.
Of course Lara could always upset the apple cart.
Interesting set of circumstances. I can't wait to see how the rest of the year plays out.
1mm+. Would be the first time anyone not named Pac or Floyd did 1mm since Oscar. More importantly, its a more exciting fight than a floyd rematch. I just dont want to see it held at 157lbs or something gay like that.

If Canelo gets past Lara in great fashion, this fight would do 1.5-1.7 easily.
Agreed if oscar is smart he should already be in talks with cotto and attempt to get the Sept.15 weekend before floyd
