What is the hype over George Groves? who has he beaten?

No he wasn't. On what merits was a he a "world class fighter"? I respect you Dan, but sometimes you say some wack stuff here. You consider Groves a "world class fighter" yet you shit on fighters like Bradley and Stevenson and say they don't impress you? Well Bradley and Stevenson are clearly world class fighters, I've never disputed that. They don't impress me as P4P talent (Neither does Groves) but they're both obviously world class. And both have impressed me on occasions. Groves proved he was a world class fighter in the first Froch fight. He took the #2 SMW and Top 10 P4P fighter to hell and back, put a beating on him before being controversially stopped. That to me, shows me he's a world class SMW.

Groves is a world class fighter as proven in the first fight and 10 years his Junior. Froch just knocked his head off his shoulders in a highlight reel KO in the biggest fight in UK Boxing history. Team Hayemaker love smoke n mirrors and that's where Groves comes from but you can't deny he's a very talented fighter. He would beat a lot of top super middleweights. Of course he still needs to prove that. He's signed with Sauerland now so I see Kessler and Abraham as future fights - who would people pick in those?

donaire never really was great to begin with (quite possibly the biggest hype job in boxing today). beating donaire was an okay/mediocre win but nothing to get excited about. i never considered him top ten p4p. but what i was trying to get at is that you don't need to beat a great fighter to be seen as a great fighter. you just need to show the right skillset. another example is canelo. canelo only has one okay win which is against trout, but he rightfully belongs in the top ten p4p for showing the right skillset that a true top ten p4p'er needs to show. Donaire was a great win, let's not talk foolish here. I know what you mean, and in some extremely rare instances, that's the case. However, it's the true measure of a great fighter; his resume. It's what separates the elite from good fighters with potential. Groves fell into the latter category and proved he wasn't elite once he stepped up. Also, Canelo was nowhere near the top 10 (besides the bias Ring Magazine) and he was outclassed when he first stepped up. Canelo is a much better fighter than Groves and has a better resume, so Canelo will probably actually has a shot to one day be an elite fighter, he'll have to beat Lara to start. Furthermore, if rated fighters solely on potential, with no regard for resume, then Widler would be p4p #1 right now.

yah but he doesn't need to beat or fight the top guys to be consider a great fighter. you just need to see his skills in the ring to understand how great he really is kind of like rigo or canelo. rigo only has a win against donaire who is an okay but nowhere near good or great fighter (on the same level as groves beating degale). but rigo's greatness is proven through the skills he shows in the ring. groves is still young (only 26), but he has shown the skillset of a top ten p4p fighter. The bold is just ridiculous, I'm not even going to bother with that. There is no comparison between Groves and Rigo, please stop. Rigo is considered one of the best amateurs of all time with a crazy record that includes two Olympic gold medals and several other accolades. He also won his first title in like 10 fights and his sole win over Donaire (ranked top 5 P4P at the time) is better than anything Groves or even Froch will ever accomplish in their careers. Beating DeGale? LOL another unproven domestic fighter. If you think Groves' "skills" are comparable to Rigo's, well you probably don't understand much about boxing.

Groves is a solid fighter with a very awkward style for Carl Froch. He still gave him plenty of problems tonight. That said, Groves is a product of the Hayemaker camp. Which means one thing....HYPE.

I agree with Larry, dude really hadn't fought anybody besides Froch, who stopped him twice. Who was his best win, shot Glen Johnson? He looked like a decent fighter, but it's easy to look good when you haven't fought anybody. Ward was right when he said this was a domestic level fight, a very rich one but a domestic UK fight no doubt.

Groves is a somewhat good win and it will likely see alot of people ranking Froch as the top dog at 168lbs its time for Andre Ward to come to England and prove he wants to fight Froch no matter the location because he is badly really badly allowing the British smw steal his lime light. Saying that I doubt Froch will want to fight Ward over JCC jr due to money reasons.

Groves is clearly a top level fighter and 1 of the best 168 lbers in the world. Froch knocked him out.. Froch is the man right now on NSB, just give a guy fcking props. Jesus christ. We can all be that guy and nitpick any win on any guys resume. but lets just stop over analyzing and cut the bullsh1t out, froch is a great fighter and scored a great win tonight. let the fans take it in and perhaps join them, its much better then to sulk and act butthurt over something you cant control
