Groves was knocked unconscious for a few seconds. You can't recover from that in 10 seconds. The fight was over and had the referee let it continue, Groves would've been knocked out after a few more punches from Froch.
Groves balance was completely gone. He was wobbly minutes after the fight was stopped. I don't see how anyone can argue that Groves should've been allowed to continue.
Really?
8 f*cking pages (at max replies per page) of debate about the stoppage? The man was unconscious, for f*ck's sake. His legs were spaghetti noodles several minutes after the stoppage...and people are actually calling it a bad stoppage?
I'm almost certain several hundred of my brain cells committed suicide reading this utter f*ckery. I could almost feel them strapping on suicide vests as I read this nonsense.
He was out cold man, dropped similar to Pac albeit he got up, but his arm was doing a little twitch and he was stumbling around.
If he got up he would have just got KO'd and possibly died.
lol...but true
I dunno what Ducketts problem is, maybe he wanted Groves to die.
groves was gone. he might have looked in decent shape as he got up, but had he not been sandwiched between the ref and the ropes he probably would have fell flat on his face trying to get to his feet. i always say unless the guy is out cold there is no reason not to complete the count, but groves was out cold. even if it was for only a few seconds you dont just instantly recover from going to sleep like that. forget a punch, just wake me up in the middle of any given night and ill need more than 10 seconds to figure out whats going on.
Did he even "waste" 6 seconds. I don't even think he counted up to 5.
I have no fighter in this fight, I didn't even give a prediction and I made this post already:
I honestly did not care who won and I did not find it controversial, it was Groves fault for playing dead and then rising from the dead with the quickness like The Undertaker. If Groves was fine, which to me it looked he was, he should not have rested for so long. His reaction to the stopagge leads to believe he WAS shook and hurt from the KD but he was fine and ready to continue but was expecting for the ref to count up to 8, which he didn't even get a 5.
If you watch the replay Groves was out cold with his left leg folded back. After a few seconds his leg popped out from under his ass and that's what woke him up. That's the only reason he came to so quickly, he wasn't playing dead as you claim.
Yea he couldn've counted longer.... but Groves wasn't moving until the ref stopped it. look how his body was postured.... Ref though it was done and signaled the stop to get the help in, Groves moved after.
Hatton and Pac didn't/couldn't attempt to get up, Groves did.
He attempted to get up after the ref had called it off. Pretty easy decision to make in my book.

You jumped ship to Froch that quick? WTF?
Pirog vs Jacobs was similar. Both guys were clearly unconscious, they woke up, and maybe could have made the count? Would it have been in their best interest? hell no, they were clearly concussed bad enough to fall asleep.
You don't count when a guy is catching zzzz's.
Plus they showed Groves try to get up like 3-4 minute later and he was stumnling and had to sit back down.
Do you know what unconscious means?

Aw man shut up lmao. Like I would talk boxing with you lmao.

:haha: Precisely. Groves hit the canvas like a wet towel. He was out cold Pacquiao style. He woke up and didn't know what was going on. Froch sent him back a week.
No, he wasn't out Pacquiao style. Pacs lights were out. Groves were dimmed.
If a guy is truly hurt, they want to get medical attention right away.
Check out the Hatton and Pac KOs. When it's clear the guy is hurt bad, the ref motions the doctors in right away.
Hatton and Pac didn't/couldn't attempt to get up, Groves did.
In retrospect a 10 count wasn't needed; Groves was barely awake on his stool.
It was a good call, do we need another Mago situation to remind us? Groves was finished.
Good post. Well said.
