Sh*t chin
Sh*t defense
Can't take body shots
Bad stamina
One handed
Etc
The guy was comfortably outboxing him, dropping him twice. Destroying him!
He faded around 7 & was knocked down in 9. He got up, made adjustments & beat Fonfara the hell up on the inside in what was a damn entertaining fight. What more do you want? What more can you possibly ask for?
This is another fighter and there is 50 threads of praise.
Stevenson is good, man & those bodyshots was sickening.
You think Frankenstein is capable of taking that sort of punishment?
I think that is an easy fight. B-Hop is a tougher fight than Kovalev, much tougher fight.
he found the left hand to the body.
he also found his second wind. a schlub gets stopped after getting dropped like that. stevenson was totally gassed. credit the hard sparring and experience he gets in kronk for his survival.
fonfara isn't a bad fighter. stevenson isn't anybody to write home about historically, but he's a good fighter. every division in boxing would be better off with a guy like stevenson in the top 5.
he's a southpaw, he can box, and he can punch. now we know he's got big balls.
i thought that was a terrific fight. fonfara is f#cking tough. that guy would be a real handful if he were more talented.
Why should Stevenson get a tremendous amount of praise for a cherry pick gone wrong?
He shouldn't for that performance-- With that being said, it's less that it 'went wrong', and more that it didn't go 'right enough'. I gave Fonfara 7-9 and 12 with a KD, but Adonis owned the first 6, battled back in 10 and 11 when it would have been easy to get frustrated, knocked his guy down twice, and hurt him a bunch of times. It's not like the fight was in doubt when the bell rang.
I like Kovalev but his defense is horrible. His great offense has let him get away with it upto now.
Isn't that the same as Stevenson? that's why we wanted to see the fight, guaranteed KO finish.
He does some things well.
Obviously can punch hard, quite fast, explosive, quite good foot speed, athletic.
But he also has a lot of flaws.
I'm very confident that Kovalev would knock him out.
We didn't learn anything last night we didn't already know. Did people think Stevenson was some kind of slick, iron-chinned activity fighter or something?
That's who Stevenson is. He launches the left hand, it's fast and powerful, but if you can take it or neutralize it you'll have a chance. It was actually impressive how he dug deep after the knockdown and took the fight inside.
He responded well from the knockdown and he really punished Fonfara to the body to back him off. He was just a far superior athlete to Fonfara when it came down to it.
There's no point... This place is retarded. You lose a couple of rounds in a fight and you get called a bum.
So true , Adonis dominated that fight, hada hiccup and now he's a fraud, ducker, bum.
I'm not a Stevenson fan but I have never felt cheated after watching him fight, the man knows his business.
Zealotry, stupidity, ignorance, resentment and a complete lack of objectivity. All prevalent traits in so many of the ridiculous delusional morons that post their subjective bile on this; the boxing equivalent of a religious extremist, site.
See what you want to see, believe what you want to believe and let your obvious resentment for a fighter greatly affect how you interpret their performance.
Very sad.

didn't you make a thread stating that pacquiao was sh*t after he comfortably outboxed and defeated bradley - a p4p fighter?
You are not exactly the most consistent poster on the site.
I was p1ssed but comfortably outboxed? You mean took over after Bradley dominated and punched himself out.
I wasn't impressed with either guy. It was sloppy as hell.
Bradley telegraphing everything he threw, throwing windmills like a damn drunk & gassing. Non stop showboating whilst Pac spent half the fight timid to engage. It was a mess and utterly embarrassing for two of the top 5 p4p fighters in the sport. If you showed that to a casual and said they was two of the best boxers on the planet you'd get laughed at.

Can Kovalev get into range without getting hit? He does not utilize a high guard and I am pretty certain he doesn't have anywhere near the chin Fonfara does.
Kovalev has no head movement, no upper body movement & is there to be hit.
I have seen wrecklessly charge multiple opponents.
I like Kovalev but his defense is horrible. His great offense has let him get away with it upto now.
His right hand is low, he doesn't bring it back properly. He overreaches with it especially to the body because all he thinks about is offense.
Stevenson for all his hate has fast hands, K.O power in both, hes very good at setting traps and walking guys onto shots. Kovalev has good skills and the power to put any LHW away but I feel this is a bad style match up for him. Stevenson is better than he gets credit for. He didn't look great last night but he overcome that adversity. We also don't know what Kovalevs chin or stamina is like. Maybe he can do 12 but can he do 12 when at a pace when being forced to think defense and forced to move, create angles and took some heavy leather back? Not that I think that will go 12 then again I didn't expect last nights fight too either.
Your one of my favorite posters in these forums. I'm all out of green K , sending it tommorow.

There's different standards for each guy though.
Stevenson is THE GUY at Light Heavy and probably a top 15 p4p fighter. He scheduled a tune up fight with an unknown who he was supposed to walk through. he got dropped by him and found himself in deep sh*t.
You can't have it both ways though. If Stevenson can't box that well and if he doesn't really punch that hard and if he can't take body shots.......then why was Fonfara's toughness something to be impressed about?
He was being tough against a bum. Big deal, anybody can do that.
See how by discrediting Stevenson you are taking away from Fonfara's performance?
