In an interview on sky sports toe-to-toe boxing podcast Ward came out with this line. I found it particularly strange considering the magnitude of the event.
If 80,000 people is considered 'domestic' then I'm sure fighters are crying out to reach the dizzying heights of fighting on the 'world stage' to a couple of hundred in Oakland.
He also gave his usual chat about how both fighters don't want to fight him. I'm sure they don't as there's much bigger names out there and this sport is called PRIZE-fighting.
Anyway what do people think? Is this really just a domestic fight?
He also knocked out Sillakh. When Kovalev did that (AFTER Grachev) people were all over his jock and gushing about what a beast he is.
You know that nsb gets hard for every k.o. reel
Kovalev is still suspect to me
But I see your point. I still think Rod is just tune up fare
What's Grachev really done, squeak by Erdei?

80,000 people showing up!
Last I heard, not even 80 people showed up to Ward's meet and greet at some local Sports Chalet in his home town. Not a good look being so bitter like Ward is.
The Euros thought enough of Edwin Rodriguez to have him in that tournament in Monaco. There was nothing wrong with him when he was over there destroying Denis Grachev to win the whole thing.
But as soon as Ward puts a whipping on him he's not world class anymore.
If you think Rodriguez was world class may god help your soul cause you don't know $h!t about boxing

Rodriguez was merely a tune-up/stay busy type of opponent. Fighting average fighters in Monaco doesn't prove anything. What's Grachev really done, squeak by Erdei?
Ward can't go talking ish about Groves if he's stuck fighting sub-par competition like Rodriguez who had zero chance - while he's waiting for a golden opportunity to fight Chavez Jr.
And mind you, there was nothing wrong with fighting a tune-up fight/stay busy fight or anything - but c'mon, you're fighting in front of 3.5K-5K people and Froch/Groves II is 70K+
It's a fight the boxing community demanded and it's happening - no BS.
I like Ward, but we have to be real. He's wasting his prime fighting his promoter just so he can get a PPV fight w/ Chavez Jr.
HAHAHA YEAH...OK if you say so, a cheap cowardly way to #1 if that is acceptable to you I guess but "TO BE THE MAN YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN", Inactivity don't remove you from being the best in your division, his Situation is not a Mystery don't pretend like he is purposely not fighting and when he is active he is avoided by ALL at 168
Ward never beat Calzaghe.
I guess Joe is still number 1 then:boxing:
Ward vs Rodriguez - a riveting world class affair

Wow a lot of hate for Ward for being truthful? It is a domestic fight. Doesnt mean its not a good one.
Don't matter, the hate is because they know like we know, neither one of these dudes can beat Ward and it KILLS them to have to accept that. So they just want Ward to magically go away so one of these guys can be considered the Best at 168
Respect to Groves and Froch, both very good fighters an I expect another good match next week...But like I Posted before and I stand by it 1000% "This Is A Battle For #2 At 168!"
The Brawl For It All...Besides 1st Place :lol1: it is nothing wrong with second place.
Don't agree with this fight being "Domestic" but let me go see his FULL COMMENT if I can find it
No. This is a battle for no.1. At least for Froch. If Froch wins he should be no.1. Ward hasn't fought an opponent with a pulse in three years.

The fight has garnered interest from across the world of boxing, it not a domestic fight.
Domestic fights are fights that are only significant in the country that it is in.
It is not the case with Froch vs Groves, it is a fight with world wide appeal.
Ward is just jealous
:haha:
Froch can never be #1 unless he beats Ward. Andre whipped him with one good hand, 80000 fans and all the money in the world isn't going to change that.
Of course he can. We are not talking lineage here. Just rankings. Its the same as when Froch beat Bute. With that win he passed Kessler in the rankings despite Kessler having the win over Froch. Thing was that Kessler was injured and came back against sub elite opposition.
Same thing.
He can actually, fighters are dropped from the rankings after a year of inactivity. Ward needs to fight before the 16th November to retain the spot. If it's not Froch, it'll be someone else.
It's not November 16 yet last time I checked. So Froch won't be #1 no matter how you spin it.
Bizzare for Ward to come out with those comments when the majority of Ward's fights have taken place in America. The winner of Froch vs Groves should make him travel for a fight or just ignore him.
This just comes off as yet another jealous rant by Andre Ward.
Ward is a fantastic boxer, there's no doubt about it.
But he comes across as bitter when it pertains to GGG and Froch. He believes he should be getting the hype that they get just based off his boxing skills alone. But it doesn't work that way and he needs to understand that.
His management hasn't done a good job, and this whole "loyalty" thing towards members of his management is hurting him.
He's the last American Gold Medalist. Undefeated. Yet almost forgotten.
