I got to go with Gamboa, but no doubt Crawford is immensely talented.
It is on 28th June, 2014 for the WBO Lightweight Championship.
Edit for mods: Given the date, it is the original Gamboa vs Crawford thread considering there is a duplicate one out there as well.
Words can't express the amount of respect I have for Gamboa. Well actually they can... Huge heart, huge cojones. My type of fighter... that's what a real fighter looks like. You go fight and if you have to go out, go out swinging. Can't wait for his next fight!
Crawford must move up in weight before he gets knocked out, he looked like a human raisin at the weigh in with gamboa.
Dropped him 4 times and won by ko doe........yeah, yeah, it was da size doe
Gamboa taking the loss was probably too big of a hit to 50's own ego. He felt he was probably in there taking that loss and future would-be greater financial revenue.
50 uses boxing as an advertising tool for myself not to make himself money I believe.....he makes a ton with other stuff...
Floyd sr worked with gamboa for gamboa to keep his hands up. That's probably why 50 cent is annoyed.

Crawford really impressed..smart resourceful fighter. Gamboa was giving him a speedbump early on, but switching southpaw to defuse Gamboa then switching back to land a big left hook or right uppercut was a thing of beauty to see. Impressed with his tactical chops.
IDK why he's receiving so much criticism. We've gotten so used to boxers being matched up a certain way, a "safer" way. He's a new promoter and wants to associate himself with intriguing/important match-ups. Win or lose, he needs to match his fighters tough. Something needs to be done with Dirrell though, what the **** is he doing?
People are just bitter that Gamboa lost, that's no big deal and also, not 50's fault. Which Dirrell does he promote, Anthony? If he is trying to promote Andre, then maybe he is stupid because Andre is a lost cause for sure.
It was a good fight.
TC looked classy all night long.
YG gave him a fight, but everyone who says he is too small are right.
I think it was a real test for YG and he came up a little short on skill and composure. At the lower weights he could rule the division, just not at 135.
I can see big things on the horizon for TC - the guy has all the tools to become a really big star.
Solid entertainment - this is the type of fight that boxing needs.
Not the rubbish recycled hype that FMJ pumps down some peoples throats.
Hey...let's just blame 50 for being a schit promoter...that is so much easier

Can't wait to get home and watch this on my dvr. I'm so pissed this wasn't an open poll. I had Crawford by stoppage when there were only 3 votes for it.
Pretty much nailed it...
We in the same boat kid. I told cats back home that Crawford had a good chance at beating Gamboa although I didn't think he'd get stopped. Easy money
Gamboa will have his moments, but he will leave his chin exposed, and will square up and Crawford will be able to land some shots and pick gamboa apart
Yeah, I do to, maybe even a couple of times..
If Crawford is the goods he should deal with gamboa like Barrera did prince naz
It's not so much that gamboa has a bad chin, or is chinny,, he just doesn't protect himself properly and that causes like 99% of all his career knockdowns! he just gets to reckless and sloppy.. I think Crawford will make him pay as others have failed to do so, plus Crawford is a giant compared to gamboa..
The combination of size and skill will be too much for gamboa, especially considering he hasn't been active nor in big fights in years,, if it was 2011 gamboa I might think differently but inactive gamboa over the past 2-3 years I just to not trust. Plus he seems to be off the juice
I don't think the crowd will effect Crawford, he seems like a cool customer.. And yes Crawford should be able to tag gamboa.. Nearly everyone has been able to, and some have dropped him.. Crawford is the best fighter gamboa has ever faced and is much much bigger..
Crawford isn't flashy but he is in the same vein as ward or Hopkins,, they just get the job done
Pretty much nailed it...
Against John Molina? Molina isn't skilled at any form or fashion and has worse defense than a wet paper bag. Matthyse knew not to throw a lot against Judah, Devon, and Garcia.
Anyway I am not trying to discredit Matthyse but just telling people not to try and diminish Crawford's win by saying this person or that person would had done better than Gamboa.
You must not watch boxing right? Go watch his fights agaisnt those three guys again you'll see how heisitant he was towards the end :lol1:
of course your trying to discredit the guy you said he would cover up and clinch if he was getting hit at will which is what was happening in the Molina fight. He got knocked down twice and came back throwing bombs to ko the guy.
Like I said Gamboa showed guts it doesn't make him more of a warrior by pretending he's the only guy in boxing that shows guts.
Gamboa isn't known as a brawler like these supposed power punchers out here but he definitely has more heart. Matthyse and any of those guys would had covered up and clinched if they found themselves getting countered and hit at will. To be honest who really has an iron chin when you keep throwing while hurt? Crawford with his power at 135 knocks any of these guys out.
You must've missed his last fight against Molina. Gamboa is a gutsy warrior but there's need to discredit other fighters to prove that, specially a guy like Matthysse :lol1:
Crawfords final KD of Gamboa made Sport Centers top 10.
And they say boxing is dead.
People who say that have no clue at all. Just ask one what was the last fight they watched and then hear crickets roar.
calzaghe had some pop too, only arm chair analysts on here think otherwise. if he really did use to slap then why didnt fighters just walk through everything he threw and crack him?
im picking crawford by tko because i think his style is going to cause gamboa problems and he is going to be eating punches all night + gamboa is off balance a lot on his fights and has been down before at lower weights plenty of times.
had gamboa been at his best/prime i would pick him but that layoff combined with his style + only fought once at this weight, thats red flags for me
Called it. Going into this fight it was very similar to martinez vs cotto but this time I picked the boxer instead of the power puncher
