Is it because of Oscar? Canelo-Lara is the big fight hardcore fans have been waiting for and is the fight of the division but I could almost care less for it. What is Canelo? Handspeed without the stamina to fight for 3 mins of a round. Lara? Good boxer who has the propensity to underperform. This already has me somewhat disinterested. Neither of these two should be good enough to be considered the champ, if the division actually had a real champion. The rest of the division is barely even worth a note. The only one I really see with some upcoming talent is one of those Charlos. The rest? Overrated.
And still overrated... I couldn't be bothered to even watch this fight. Neither Lara nor Canelo are championship quality.
I agree. JMW is absolutely the most overrated division In boxing IMO
We can all just hope the mighty Kalule perceives his division's puny, desperate screams of help and returns to his throne to once again rule with an iron-fist while shedding some much needed greatness over the division for one last time.
Canelo vs Lara is the best 2 available guys to fight for what I consider to be the vacant 154 champ.. Molina should be in the running once he straightens up his legal woes.
160 sucks. Even 135 is better, which says a lot. Canelo, Lara or Sturm, Quillin, Macklin, Geale lol let me think about it

Sturm and Geale would easily outbox Canelo's leadfooted ass.
Lara is not top 20
He looked good in 1 fight vs a scarecrow legged X champ.
Lara needs to win vs Canelo before you can rank him anywhere.
The guy just got off the boat, how is he top 20?
Why would a win over Canelo do anything? Surely the logic in this post applies to Canelo also, as he really has done nothing to warrant any more praise than Lara. If Lara isn't top 20, then Canelo isn't either...
Lara beat Trout far far more convincingly
Canelo beat Angulo more convincingly
How do you put one over the other?
Yep u rite. 154 is pretty stank. The two best (Canelo, Lara) would be lucky to even be top 5 at 147 or 160. 154 needs new talent. It sucks.
Agreed. Them Charlos already got the division and they're not even trying yet.
Hopefully canelo can become something real because hes not there yet. But yeah 154 is really overrated considering the #1 fighter is a welterweight in mayweather.
Amen. The division is like a part time division.
oscar who, ODLH? are you talking about now or like, historically? your post is confusing.
there's some good talent now, including everyone you mentioned … but if you try to shat on it historically, you'll quickly learn how foolish that is.
The division is still riding on Oscar's popularity, was what I was getting at. Canelo is trying to take the handoff, for as long as he can make weight.
didnt canelo just fought 3 mins of a round times 10 vs angulo... except for 20 secs on the 8th round, by the ten round canelo was as fresh as a lettuce , this stamina theory is nothing but a myth... even angulo and hunter had the wrong strategy due to this theory, expecting canelo to gas in the later rounds, it never happened... hopefully lara puts his eggs on the same basket and he is in for a long night...
He didn't have to use up extra energy trying to find Angulo. If he actually had to use his legs to close distance, Canelo wouldn't have been able to throw but about half of the amount. If Lara makes him chase, his output is going to be horrible.

its a good division with solid talent, just like any other division.
Canelo
Lara
Charlo x2
Kirkland
Molina
Andrade
Rabchenko
Vanes
Nelson
Cotto
Trout
Angulo
Smith
Clottey
There's some good talent coming up in this division. I wouldn't list Clottey, Smith, Nelson, Vanes, and Rabchenko as top fighters though.
160 sucks. Even 135 is better, which says a lot. Canelo, Lara or Sturm, Quillin, Macklin, Geale lol let me think about it
What makes you think Canelo is such a good fighter? Did the Josesito fight convince you?

Even further down the list is not that bad Vanes, Clottey, Kirkland, Trout.
Then there is the European contingent of Jonak, Rabchenko and Baysangurov.
Then younger guys like the Charlos and Andrade, then one of the top prospects in Errol Spence although he could start at 147 he is more of a 154 poounder.
Seems pretty talented, with a mix of known guys, unknown guys and up and comers.
