UFC doesn't own all of MMA of course, but they own a massive majority of the fighters, and the best MMA fighters in the world.
What would it take for boxing to be under one promoter? A billionaire that buys all the big promoters and sanctioning bodies? All promoters coming together and starting their own promotion? What would it take, or be the most logical way to do it?
You would need 1 guy to step up and create his own organization that defies all the rules and boxing laws, buy off plenty of contracts to build up his own stable and pit his fighters only against each other. Wait, that's how Top Rank works right now.
Boxing doesn't have to follow the same pay scale as UFC, just the matchmaking format.. UFC does do a bad job of paying fightersexactly, the only format i was talking about was how ufc is just one promotion, and they are able to make the super fights happen. I never said copy them, their pay scales need a lot of work.
I guess he doesnt understand rematches like boxing hasn't had rematches or what about one of the 26383023 titles in a single division just to make a championship fight. What did manny win vs rios the wbc silver platinum intercontinental latin america championship of the universe title?
One thing I respect about the ufc is the best fight the best no bull no catchweight no glove disputes no special rules or agendas simple the best fighter that night wins because he's better
Good post, totally agree... I love boxing, but like you said, UFC the best fight the best in the divisions, and there is no disputes about gloves, weights, etc.. If boxing was like that, it would be a much bigger sport than it is today
Miesha Tate vs Rousey 2. Sonnen's last fight in the division was a loss in a non title fight to Sobral.
I backed up my claims. Now point out a championship fight on PPV in boxing with a fighter coming off a loss in the division?
Sonnen comment is completely wrong, he was on a winning streak coming into both silva fights and was actually beating ranked guys, and heading into the jones fight he lost to silva in the fight before..
As for boxing, all the contenders don't fight anyone to get a title shot, they all fight protective schedules and will fight one meaningful fight and the winner gets a shot,, in UFC you have to constantly take on ranked guys..
Boxing all you have to do is beat Berto, or some other c level guy and you get a shot... Who had porter beaten to get his title shot, or pauli for his title shot, or Ortiz, or stiverne... They all beat up on lesser competition, the fight one ranked guy, and if they win they get a title shot.. It's much easier to manufacture a win streak in boxing than it is in UFC
Sara McMann headlined the second biggest UFC PPV this year and made 16 thousand dollars.

02/01/2014 UFC 169 Barao vs Faber II 230,000 PPV buys

Look at those PPv buy rates.. Those are on par with any boxing PPv that doesn't have Floyd or manny... For doing a PPv every 6 weeks or so, those are very good numbers.. UFC is missing a mega star like Floyd or manny to get huge numbers but boxing was like that 10 years ago before manny n Floyd reach superstardom..
all rematches to title fights.... The ones pre 2007 when pride was still around don't really even count as UFC wasn't the world leader like it is today and their roster was super small....
The current fights you mentioned Henderson lost up in weight and then came down to fight silva,,
Machida and Edgar fights were title rematches when champ lost..
Why don't you list current fights that UFC gave a title shot to that the challenger lost a non title fight and then got a title shot.. Your acting like all these guys weren't deserving of a title shot..
Did you really think shogun didn't deserve a rematch with machida.. Lmao

If boxing had a UFC type organization, just made up of guys from showtime and hbo.. We would be getting
Floyd-manny
Porter Thurman
Wlad stiverne
Serg ggg
Khan Bradley
Gamboa mikey
Danny Lucas 2
Peterson Herrera
Those fights would be happening this year
Smh why?? Lucas lost bro. Herrera deserves a rematch. Not Matthysse.
Only if they pay these fighters the kind of millions they are getting now. If they tried to pay them the chump change the UFC pays it's best fighters they would refuse to fight.

It would be a very bad situation for the fighters. Compare what any mma fighter makes fighting each year to what Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto or Canelo makes each year. It's great for the promoter who bosses the fighters around and pays them very little while he keeps most of the money. The talent in boxing would quickly go down hill because money brings in the talent. Most fighters would not be doing something as hard and dangerous as pro boxing unless they had a good chance to make big money and they would not be pro boxers if they got paid like mma fighters.
Frankie Edgar vs Ben Henderson Title shot off a loss
Bj Penn vs Frankie Edgar Title shot off a loss
Marcio Rua vs Machida Title shot off a loss

Come on man you're being desperate.
Silva had a 16 win/10 title defense streak before Wiedman beat him. Of course a rematch happened. In fact you'd be better off complaining if it DIDN'T happen (in boxing Weidman would have probably spent 2 years putting around negotiating for more $$$).
Diaz fought Condit for the interim title. After Condit lost to GSP he was next in line.
Rousey vs Tate is girls. Pretend women's boxing is anything other than basically ignored on here.
Sonnen fought Jones (champion) coming off a loss to Silva (champion) so he fought for the title in one division then made a shot in another division.
You may not agree with those matchups but they were all reasonable title contenders/top guys or rematches/direct outcomes of title fights or title eliminators. They didn't just find some dude ranked #37 throw him in with #1 and charge you $70 for it.
In boxing you have downright exhibition fights on expensive PPVs where top guys just beat up a sack of potatoes to "show off their skills to the nation". We have become to used to that we just accept and love it.

Sonnen fight was crap, but the others are all legit..
Did you use the silva-weidman 2??? Lmao, so a champion can't get a rematch if he lost his belt in a shocking lost...
Diaz was split decision end by condit and a lot of people thought he won, condit got the first title shot and then Diaz got his.. Similar to when Barrera narrowly lost to morales but got the prince naz title shot
Just stop.

All those fights except for Fedor vs Brock were with fighters in different weight classes. And you're talking a 10 pound, 15 pound and a 20 pound difference. It's not like the UFC ever had two welterweights and couldn't get them to fight.
No Im not. Some fighters just cut more weight. Aldo weighs more than Pettis. Jones cuts weight, Cain doesn't.
These fights are not fairy tales that I'm making up.
They were talked about as happening by the president of the company.
