After the Chavez fight collapsed, GGG team immediately opened negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions to organize a fight with the WBO world champion Peter Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs).
"We made a good offer to Richard Schaefer (CEO of Golden Boy Promotions), - says Oleg Herman (Manager of GGG). - But the next day he said that they want to arrange an open trade between the channels, the winner of which will receive the rights to broadcast the fight Golovkin - Quillin."
This option is not acceptable to the team of the Kazakh boxer who fights exclusively on HBO.
"The proposed option was not acceptable to us, - says Oleg Herman. - Because the team is not going to turn away from our partners on HBO, on whose support Gennady can always count. Additionally, Peter Quillin has much lower popularity in the U.S. compared to Gennady, and can not be even compared. If Quillin didn't have the title and didn't mention loudly and constantly "Golovkin" and "Martinez" names in the press, we would most likely have heard little about him. Not to mention that Quillin fights on the undercard and has not headlined a single main fight night."

So Richard knows GGG is tied to HBO, he tells GGG team to make an offer (which logically means they are ready to discuss the possibility of Kid C fighting on HBO), but then when the offer comes, he proposes an open trade. :liar:
So Schaeffer has the Showtime fighter. Team Golvkin the HBO fighter.
One team was willing to compromise and put the fight up for bid. The other team was not willing to compromise and put the fight up for bid.
So now everyone sits back and says the compromising side is the bad side in this?
Again, am I in lala land. Am I sane? I know everyone on boxingscene picks and chooses who they like and dislike, but this seems pretty straight forward with a non bias view.
And I don't like Quillen and am A big fan of Golovkin.. People are too bias here. It's why I have started spending more time at smaller forums.
You are not a very smart person... Quillon calls out Gennady and Schaefer says make me an offer. First, if Quillon is the one doing the calling out HE should be the one sending an offer. Still the CHALLEGNER (champion or not Quillon is a nobody) was then approached by Golovkin and now it's "uh well... let's bid it out." Sorry your "boy" Schaefer is a snake worse than Arum, got called out on his BS and ran off with his legs tucked between his legs while Quillon was changing his diaper from pissing himself when GGG came knocking.
De La Hoya's cocaine addiction/fall was the worst thing to happen for boxing...
people can hate on bob all they want, but look hes put his top dog, Chavez Jr in with Sergio martinez from a diff promoter. also, putting cotto with sergio.
in the past pacquiao with de la hoya, hatton, etc.
Schaeffer and mayweather started this rift. look at that even another promoter saying scaheffer at fault
That's why Hoya is needed in times like these. It's bad enough to see fighters make excuses, but snakes like Schaefer facilitating their excuses is the worse that could happen in this sport.
Look, guys. Since GGG team made an offer to GBP, they clearly have got the approval from HBO to do that (if you remember, Tom Loeffler was supposed to meet with HBO on Monday a week ago). In other words with this offer being sent to GBP, HBO potentially allowed a GBP fighter Peter Quillin to fight on their channel.
What remains unclear though is whether K2 was supposed to be the main promoter of the event so that HBO did not deal with GBP directly.
Quillin and GBP are tied to Showtime. An open trade is the fairest option.
HBO has exclusive rights to Golovkin compared to GBP just being banned from there.
I thought they had an exclusive contract with GBP, but they just work exclusively with them because they can't fight on HBO.
Quillin almost fought on FS1 while GGG's Monaco fights can't be seen unless you stream it or HBO shows it compared to his Ishida fight being on an independent PPV channel
Quillin has no deal with Shotime, does he? I'm not even sure he has a deal with GBP. Golovkin is legally tied to HBO, plus he's the draw.
Pretty sure he's with GBP.
Besides... they'd still have to deal with Haymon
So Schaeffer has the Showtime fighter. Team Golvkin the HBO fighter.

You also have to take something else into consideration. Golovkin has something Quillin desperately needs. That is Marketability and Star power. Even last night Golovkin was getting hounded by fans in LA, a place he has never fought. I am sure Golovkin would fight Quillin if HBO released a statement saying he could, but they also do not want to bite the hand who actually made him a star.
Quillin is sort of stuck in no mans land and his career needs a giant boost. They should be more flexible.
Who do you think will avoid this fight, or set up roadblocks in it? GG's side or Quilin's side? Just use your common sense people. This is not rocket science.
Exactly. The reason he's called 'Kid Chocolate' is because he makes chocolate in his pants every time he hears Golovkin's name.
Quillin is an undercard fighter who I doubt even has a contract with Showtime. It's obvious as **** they just want to milk the title as long as possible fighting no hopers until Canelo moves up.

Richard do US a favor and leave the boxing world. Take ure ass back to banking
