I think his guaranteed purse was $1.5 mil with an upside if the PPV's hit a certain amount. Now with the reports of it doing way less than expected Chino might not get any cut at all?
I hope he does get the rematch and gets paid better. After all the trainer/manager/promoter fees, taxes and what not I wonder how much he pockets out of that guarantee. Now of course to us that is still a lot and if he spends that money in argentina it will have much greater value but still I feel he got underpaid bigtime.
This really depends on US currency compared to ARG currency. If they pay Maidana something like 5 million US dollars then in his country that money can turn into damn near 20 million depending how valuable the US dollar is in his country. Maidana isn't a US citizen so they figured they can cut corners by giving Maidana money in US dollars so in return he would get a major profit back in country. Maidana probably turned that 1.5 million into something close to 8 million give or take. People forget that Maidana does not live in the US so the currency is different. He is most likely being payed in US dollars so he would see far more money in his own country. Its also a cheap way to pay Maidana so they can cut corners.
Of course they are..Pac has to be in with a credible opponent or he won't sell..He's not Mayweather,Mayweather can fight damn near anyone and sell..As is shown with his last fight..
Joshua Clottey?
99% of fighters can only dream about making a million dollars for a career, let alone a fight.
It ain't peanuts even if it's a small purse compared to Mayweather.
I hate to bring up subtle rascist proclivities...believe me I am not a pc kind of guy....But this much has to be said:
Madianna is not a humble Latino contractor who, after beating up a cabdriver in Mexico City, is fighting for the first time in Ameeericcca....He is a citizen of the international community, vis a vis Buenos Aires, the paris of the South America's....He has fought at this level before, so why should he be happy that in pesos he made a lot of cash?
It just doesn't work that way guys!!! A boxer becomes a member of the international community when they fight at the elite level....yes Mayorga can fight guys MMA etc in Nicaruaga but he is not involved in international taxes, promotional expenses, travel, etc that he was involved in when he was challenging Vernon Forrest and the stocking bomber. Exchange values can fvck a fighter up but seldom would seem to help him! TAXES!! ALL if Madiannas expenses are in dollars and if I would question how cheap the rent is in Buenos Aires....even in new york City great food is cheap...does not mean its cheap to live there now does it?
Questions: "How much was Maidana making BEFORE he stepped in the ring with Floyd?"
and...
"How much more does he stand to make in the rematch?"
Nobody has heard HIM nor ANYBODY in his camp complaining about his pay.
.
floyd is not the best, so lets get this "chance to beat the best" finished, forget all of that, floyd has ducked the best, that will never make him the best.
haymon and richard are criminals, first they take fighters from golden boy, the company richard is ceo from, then try to finance buy the rest, only to fail for now.
then they go about how hbo underpays, always that excuse for guys to duck fights like stevenson, floyd and co have done
if golden boy and haymon fighters are smart, they will move to hbo and top rank, look at bradley/marquez and so on? look at chavez, these guys are getting 5m plus per fights (chavez is being tricked by haymon that he can make 10m+ which is bs)
whilst richard is giving them 1-2m at most per fight and claiming it is more than tr when in reality it is not
I feel sorry for chino
paid little compared to other promoter guys, then gets robbed and now will be left fighting for 400k per fight again
If Floyd is not the best fighter in the sport I don't know who is..It's clear as day Floyd is the number 1 fighter in the sport..It's also clear as day he's the biggest draw in the sport..Don't let ya dislike of him make ya say foolish things..
Fighters are making more money fighting Pacquiao. Lol
Of course they are..Pac has to be in with a credible opponent or he won't sell..He's not Mayweather,Mayweather can fight damn near anyone and sell..As is shown with his last fight..
That peanuts fighting against the PPV king and cash cow...
Obviously you did not read/comprehend what the post said..It's not peanuts to Maidana..A fighter who no one really knew,a fighter who had never made a mill for a fight(I don't believe)..A fighter who really brought nothing to the table..Not even credibility(how many people thought this would be a mismatch??),Maidana was payed more then enough..
Argentina a third world country? Damm.. How sad is our educational system.
Lol I was going to make this comment, then thought to myself how I can be such an a-hole.....Just glad that someone else notices these things.
"Buenos Aires...city of savage ghettos, people using coal in huts with".....never mind

1.5 million in purses for one fight is not peanuts. that's a career high payday.
not to mention that he can be set up basically for life with endorsements in argentina.
that's also not the only fight he'll have this year.
sign me up for those peanuts. i can retire in a couple of years and start doing something i actually enjoy.
I agree with this..

What did you expect him to get??It's clear as day Maidana really did not bring much to the table..May is the draw, and the only reason anyone cared about the fight..Majority did not even know who Maidana was..
