What is it with this guy and his trash talk? I have not followed his career that much because of a lack of big and intriguing fights, but for Chavez jr. and now Cotto he's constantly mouthing off to the media. It doesn't come off very well for him and if he loses against Cotto he is going to look like an absolute clown after all the "I will retire him!" "He won't last many rounds!" talk.
He didn't like Chavez because Chavez got his belt and Sergio had to wait to get it back, and he doesn't like Cotto for some slight a few years ago.
A very sensitive man indeed. Imagine if he had ever faced a real trash talker, I bet he'd be crying or raging himself to sleep every night before the fight.
Fights with Paul Williams, pavlik weren't big or interesting to you
Those and the Chavez fight. That's only a handful in his long career. The man simply hasn't had many exciting fights in his long career.
I want to hear what his big mouth has to say after King Cotto pushes his chit in!
Moderfuker is about to have a serious epiphany when Miguel lands the first big left hook! :blackeye:
Cotto by KO.
Bet 100 trillion if you're so confident.
Sergio fought his way to the top with little acclaim or even recognition, he did it the hard way.
Now that he's been at the top, and realises he is literally on his last legs, he is selling the fights. He would have crushed Miguel and basically anyone else from 154-160 over the last few years and they didn't want to fight, nothing wrong with trying to draw as much hype and money as possible in your final fights.

Someone finally got in his ear and told him he needed to trash talk.
Seriously, back in 2008-2009 he wasn't getting anything. After he got the belts, he was calling guys out but was getting shaded by Cotto ("this is a business"), Chavez Jr ("fight doesn't make sense"), and many more. Pacquiao fought for Sergios 154 belt but wouldn't fight him. Chavez grabbed his 160 belt but wouldn't fight either.
Once he started talking some ****, he got some fights. If you keep winning fights and call a fighter who is ****ing you a *****, it's only so long before his fanbase starts to wonder why their guy hasn't fought the guy calling him out (if the guy is a legit fighter).
His mouth would then say"CHECK PLEASE" get his millions and enjoy his life,he is selling the fight
Son took my avi? It's all good though it's one of my favorite boxing pics ever

Really think so? Bet 5 Billion? I don't really know how Miguel will approach this fight. He is definitely a true welterweight fighting a guy that might enter the ring over 170. Will he try to pursue Sergio and be physical? Will he elect to try to box with Sergio and try to out counter the counterpuncher? I'm not sure I know the answer. I'm not sure there is one.
he just doesnt like cotto and chavez, for his other fights he is generally respectful.
i hope cotto makes him pay though, not for talking but for calling out much smaller guys when he hasnt taken care of business at 160 yet. people compare it to hagler and hopkins fighting smaller guys during their MW title reigns, but they had already cleaned out the division. no way they would be calling out smaller guys with someone like golovkin around at their own weight and so much unfinished business.
He's only been in two ppv fights which is when he seems more outspoken or it could simply be he's getting a lot more exposure than any other fights. The Chavez fight was personal with everything surrounding the WBC belt, and it seems like it became personal with Cotto and all his diva demands.

After getting screwed over by bogus decisions losses and draws, he got the right to trash talk to the pampered fighters that made millions while he had to earn it. A decade ago Martinez was just a fighter who was a road warrior that was adding a name to a uprising boxing star.
Hes a pretty funny trash talker as well
Clearly worked on you
Yup. I went from wanting to see a great fight from both guys with both standing at the end and Cotto winning. Now I want Cotto to knock his block off and give him a nice dose of irony by ending his career.
