Which fighter would beat Mayweather ? If Lara beats Canelo I think he'd be the best bet 2 beat Mayweather. But knowing him he probably will never fight a Cuban
At 147 it all depends on Mayweather.
He is 38 and it's still hard to say how much he's declined, but let's not act as if he is prime.
He is on the verge of retirement and many guys can potentially give him problems, it depends on how much he's left in the tank.
Let's be real, Maidana is not that good. If something Floyd had a sub par performance and his outpot in particulat was disappointing.
When he threw he landed at more than 50% and apart from a few uppercuts and jabs to the body he was head hunting.
Also I don't understand all this 'credit' that Maidana supposedly deserves. I can't remember somebody committing so many blatant fouls since Tony Galento.
And yes, clinching and pushing are fouls, but there is a difference between a clinch and biting your opponent's ear off, or throwing a knee.
I remember people complaining about Garcia's low blows , but nobody criticizes Maidana for the same reason, plus the rabbit punches and the knee?.
Khan and Alexander did beat him and would beat him again.
Bradley, Pacman and Porter would beat him as well imo and I'd give Robert Guerrero and Thurman good chances.
Great post!! These people just can't appreciate greatness though. They feel that is their job as "boxing experts" to try and make Floyd Mayweather Jr the lesser. The problem is that Floyd has NEVER lost , people don't like that , they like to see them win and then lose so they can feel better.
At the end of the day the fact will always remain there , Floyd Mayweather Jr has done nothing but DOMINATE the sport since he became a pro. He didn't become good overnight , it's always been that way from his first pro fight to his 46 fight. 17 years of hard work , dedication and most importantly CONSINTENCY. :boxing:
17 years as and undefeated dominant champion and still beating younger fighters and younger champions. What he has done in the sport is unprecedented. I mean he's 37 and is lineal champion in 2 weight classes. Hate it or love it, it's reality.:boxing:
Great post:boxing:
In all fairness when Floyd was at lightweight he was calling out the bigger known Mosley and de la Hoya and they turned their nose up at him. Also we all remember Floyd's run at 140 where Hatton and Cotto are on record saying they didn't want to fight Floyd. I remember when Mosley had a toothache and went on a family vacation and said he didn't want to fight Floyd. I mean there are fights I would have liked to see Floyd make but knock his resume because of timing and misfortune isn't fair. If one is objective and unbiased they can easily see why Floyd didn't fight any of the Top rank fighters after he left top rank. Arum was pissed because he got outsmarted by Haymon and Floyd went on to break the ppv record and control his career. Arum went on a major smear campaign after Floyd left him and created all these boogy men and built up their ferocity to destroy Floyd's image and reputation. In April 2006 Arum is quoted saying Mayweather is the greatest fighter of all time then a year later Mayweather is afraid of margarito, Cotto and PAC. Arum never mentioned any of those guys as Floyd opponents that Floyd couldn't beat until Arum couldn't make any more money off of Floyd. And I blame both Manny and Floyd for their fight not happening. :boxing:

Floyd wouldn't travel to the champ at 140 and Arum kept Cotto away from Mayweather until he was ready (then Floyd retired).
Hattons dad didn't want the fight after they seen what Floyd did to Gatti. He and Cotto were In Attendance that night and witnessed something they clearly wanted no part of and they were both champions. Floyd wanted those fights and arum kept Cotto safe and hattons dad kept his son safe from Floyd. When Floyd retired Cotto was barely entering the division, why would Floyd retire because of a guy he already was willing to fight??

Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
I love that scripture. Thank you for posting.:boxing:
I have a question though. Did you post that because you feel I said lies in my post? If I am Mis informed on any thing I posted then I encourage you to set the facts straight. :boxing:
Lara has beaten Paul Williams. That's as good if not better than anyone on Floyd's record. In fact, Paul Williams best win is better than Floyd's. Not only that, but Williams beat prime Margarito, who Floyd avoided at all costs. Moreover, Lara beat Trout who Canelo beat to get a Floyd fight.
Floyd may have dominated the southpaws he's faced, but he's fought southpaws who at best can be described as 'fairly good' (Judah, Guerrero, Ortiz, etc.). All the better southpaws he's ducked (Williams, Pacquiao, and Martinez, and I'm sure Lara will be added to that list before long).
Great points. But I have a question:
That was Paul Williams after he was knocked unconscious by Martinez right? I can't remember:boxing:
At 37 years old, there are quite a few who have a serious chance at beating Floyd. Shawn Porter and Timothy Bradley are a serious threat. Many have their doubts about Bradley because of his last performance against Manny. But the reality is, Floyd does not present the same threat as Manny. You have to seriously worry about getting KO'd with Manny because of his combination of speed, power, and akwardness. Floyd doesn't present that problem and Tim's approach would be much different. Porter has skill and a lot of ability and is very confident right now, plus he has youth on his side. Floyd will never fight him. But guys like Khan and Lara will always be a more serious threat to Floyd than the slower flat footed guys he has been facing lately. Martinez and Pacquiao are major threats as well because of their athletic ability and championship experience. Floyd has banged it in fans head that he is the best ever. His dominant performances has pretty much supported that. But once his resume in closely analyzed, you will have a better understanding why he's been so dominant. He has never faced a fighter from the same pedigree as himself with championship experience. By the time he faced Mosley and De La Hoya, they were way past it. Oscar still managed to lose by a split decision and Mosley had him hurt worst than ever before in his career. I'm not denying his greatness and accomplishments, but he has been well managed over the last 7 years. He has not fought the style of opponent that will exploit the fact that he is older and has slowed down. Maidana has just opened the door. If Floyd is not careful of his choosing of his last 3 opponents, he will not retire undefeated.

People are obsessed with southpaws defeating Mayweather, I just don't get it. Right handed fighters land easier on him than south paws, plus he has dominated every southpaw he's fought. No guy who got knocked down and beat up by Angulo is the guy to defeat mayweather. And I appreciate Lara's skills but this crowning a guy before he beats anyone of note needs to stop. Mayweather has faced all styles but none of these guys have faced Mayweather's style. It's the same story, rinse and repeat.:boxing:

Lara doesn't have the dimensions to do it, variety in his attack or the workrate.
Maidana beat him already so to mention another one who would beat him again... I'd have to go with Pacquiao. He definitely won't be able to deal with all the movement and angles. Maidana only had to use a BIT of both to defeat him.

No one, he may be unproven but Thurman genuinely worries me in that he knows how to use his feet to get leverage on his punches, especially body punches. Still, Thurman needs to show me how well he can fight in the pocket since Mayweather will smother and tie him up. Porter could cause some problems but I don't know how well he can pick his spots since he hasn't been in there with a good counter puncher, someone who can fight on the inside and punch. I see fighters that can cost him some problems, unless he loses another step I don't see him losing anytime soon.
147: Thurman, Pacquiao would beat him while Khan, Bradley, Porter, Maidana and Matthysse have a decent shot.
154: Golovkin, Martinez, Kirkland would beat him while Lara, Cotto, Andrade have a decent shot.
