I'm watching the Box Nation broadcast, and -- through eight rounds -- I have Chino winning all eight.
Why?
Because of bludgeoning, high volume power punches to Floyd Mayweather's center mass.
Important: Marcos Maidana DOES NOT have to land clean to do blood-vessel-breaking damage. On top of that, HE THROWS A LOT OF PUNCHES!
However, Mayweather MUST land clean to have success. He was landing clean, crisp counters and he still wasn't very effective. I think that's because he didn't let his hands go enough, but that's also a credit to Marcos' head movement, footwork, and getting Mayweather's respect by punching him hard.
I'm impressed at Mayweather's ability to absorb punishment without showing signs of being hurt. But that could be partly due to him paying Maidana extra to wear sparring gloves.
Sadly, Money's pot shots weren't stopping Maidana AT ALL, plus Maidana was moving out of the way of them. Maidana's punches to the body appeared to really slow down Mayweather's punch output, and they also took off some of the steam on his pot shots.
A poster here said before the fight, "A pot-shot-to-a-clinch strategy isn't going to be enough to stop Maidana."
Boy, was he right. Mayweather got his ass kicked. I am genuinely surprised he took all those hard punches without getting knocked out. I underestimated his toughness since before this fight.
Props to Marcos for coming out energentic, violent, smart, and disrespectful. He really got Mayweather's respect with an all-out assault in the first half of the fight. And I feel he won. Watch the match as a street fight and it's abundantly clear who really won. Mayweather never seriously gained momentum of took the play away from Maidana.
The more I replay the fight, the less I understand how people think Maidana won. I really like Chino. I thought he tried much harder than any Floyd opponent has in years. He just did not do enough to win. Plain and simple. He started well but did not maintain it. If you paid attention to the fight, you would see that he never really hurt Floyd, but Floyd hurt him to the body multiple times
Good fight. It was dirty but was the best Mayweather fight in years.
Let's put it this way so that Maidanas fans can stop crying.
Let's say Maidana threw 100 round for a good portion of the fight. Some landed clean and many were blocked. Maidana lands 17 punches.
This is not counting the rabbit punches, kidney shots, an attempt at a knee, low blows, an mma take down down, holding and hitting, holding the head down, and use of the forearm.
This is what the judges see.
Floyd throws 34 punches and 17 land visibly clean. Floyd is also blocking and making Maidana miss a lot of shots and parrying shots. Floyd is using his forearm and holding Maidanas head down.
Are you saying volume punching wins out in the judges eyes? Foh and here's why.
Floyd's punches were making Maidanas head snap back. Floyd's body shots visibly landed and did damage.
Did we see Maidanas punches do damage? We don't know for sure because we aren't feeling them, but he is landing some. I saw nothing visibly.
If you think that that's foul, that's boxing. That's why you have 3 judges. 3 different guys watch the fight with 3 different views. You always hear about judges who like aggression, boxers, body punchers, etc.
None of the judges had Maidana winning. Many in the press did not have Maidana winning. Ring side observers didn't have Maidana winning. We are proud of Chinos effort, but he lost and the above reason is why.
That's what the judges saw.
Floyd shifted the paradigm of boxing a while ago and Chno just jarred everyone back to ****ing reality. Anyone with a brain that is. You're asking me to respect the experts and pundits of a boxing system Floyd is reigning king of? Thats like asking the king's court who wears this crown better, your king... or this new guy?
Floyd shifted the paradigm of boxing from one of orchestrated violence to a high minded affair.. civilized almost. Where we are supposed to sit back and sigh in awe at his technical brilliance in a setting about as high stakes as a sparring match. Somewhere along the line, Floyd, and a majority of the boxing world, forgot a Floyd fight should still be a ****ing fight.
I am all for admiring skill, but it has to be something behind it or it becomes just parlor tricks for the blind masses. Its like if you have a rapper that can spit multis, complicated metaphors, and detailed stories, but then a true gangster rapper comes along and flames the cerebral rapper with less fancy words but more hurtful intent.. backed by their street cred.. people are gonna be like.. I aint feeling that guys **** no more he a backpack rapper.
well floyd is a backpack fighter. Wasnt always, but his lavish lifestyle has spoiled him and morphed him into a backpack fighter. Chino Maidana reminded those who aint attached to May's scrote, or too immersed in the Floyd paradigm to get clean air, of that very truth.
at the end its a fight...and Floyd got outfought. End of ****ing discussion.
Man let it goooooooooooo!!
Bludgeoning combo that nets you one clean punch against NOT A POT SHOT BUT ACURATE PUNCHES THAT LAND WILL WIN ALL DAY ANY DAY.
When does throwing punches and hammer fists at a boxers head, arms, back, hip, nuts score you punches and is considered effective aggression?
And why is no one talking about the fact that Garcia told his fighter to fight dirty. That s**t had me tripping. Not gonna say any names but if it were any other fighter people would be calling for Garcias head.
Naazim Richardson
"Floyd has fought at such a high level that we scrutinize him on a different platform. Him and Maidana put on a real good fight, but I don't think Maidana won the fight," stated world-class trainer Naazim Richardson, who shared his thoughts Floyd Mayweather's performance in his unification bout with former champion Marcos Maidana this past Saturday. As far as Richarson is concerned, although Maidana had some success in roughing up Mayweather, he was never able to really faze the undefeated champion.
"Maidana was able to rough him up at times like people want to see Floyd roughed up, he was able to bully Floyd at times like people want to see Floyd bullied, but although Floyd may not be a big puncher, he is strong, man," Richardson explained. "He is a strong and well-conditioned athlete, so that nonsense won't shake him."
You were one of those that said Chino is a glorified club fighter and that this was a mismatch leading up to the fight. Shows what you know.
I wish Naazim would climb out of Floyd's taint, along with over half of this board. This is the same guy that hyped up the opponent of the guy he was training, TO the guy he was training!. Most boneheaded **** ever. Naz to Mosely: "you can hit him man... but watch out when you do he's gonna turn to ****in Smaug.."
Wtf is that ****? Seriously.
Meanwhile Garcia to Chino: "He's just a man you can hit him and when you do.. KEEP on ****ing hitting him and dont let up."
I guess Chino caught May in his larval dragon form eh Naziim
Nazim Richardson is bias toward boxers. Of course he's gonna side with Mayweather.
Boxers are overrated. Brawlers and punchers are the sh*t!

Dude...
Think critically.
Of course the judges saw it for Mayweather except one;he brings money to Vegas. And no one from the press has the balls to go against Mayweather because they'll get ostracized.
Stop following the herd.
Watch the match as a street fight and it's abundantly clear who really won.
:lol1:
I really can't tell if this is Floyd fans mocking Maidana fans or if Maidana's fans are seriously just that batsh*t crazy

Foh. Look at the poll. Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't lie. Maidana volume punching was more effective than a pot shot with nothing on it.
Ask yourself,
"What's better? A five or six bludgeoning punch combo from Chino? Or a pot shot or two in a single round with nothing on it?"
So basically four, five, six chopping-yet-damaging shots from Maidana for every other pot shot that had no stopping power.
Your boy didn't want to let his hands go! Credit to Chino for hitting that dude hard and making him reevaluate his life in that ring.

Your inability to score was more effective or I should say see properly.
You're overrating Mayweather's infrequent pot shots that did nothing to Maidana.
I'm not sure when missing damn near every one of your "volume" punches became effective. Maidana was game, he did some good work to the body. He brought it, no doubt. But he didn't win that fight. He did better than expected, which is why you guys are overreacting to it. Well, that, and you hate to see Mayweather keep winning.
No.
In your head, you're rationalizing a paradigm that doesn't even exist.
You're bias. I was just calmly watching the fight, with no interest either way.
Do body shots not exist in your world?
Not everything is black and white. Maidana won in the exchanges and sold out, whereas the your boy was not as willing to sell out and put it all on the line. He was fighting in a way to protect his 0.
Luilin's post says it all.

If you want the true results take a look at Madaina face there is not one mark when I fought amateur I would at least leave some marks on peoples face and that was only 3 rounds. Mayweather had some lumps on his cheek bones and who knows probably some bruising but since he's dark you can't see them. Some clown here put a video of Mayweather landing a pot shot right hand he throws the right hand like a cat claws to the person who never box it looks like a clean punch but in reality it's no more than a point like punch with nothing behind it kind of like a woman trying to scratch but the only difference is Mayweather has gloves on. If you see the video analyze the punch rather than a straight right hand with twisting at the wrist to turn the punch over he throws it like a paw . If you have box and know how to punch correctly take a look at it. I'm sure Floyd knows how to punch correctly but I think he throws it like that to fool the public and judges like he throws a hard clean punch. That is why according to comp box Floyd landed 200 some punches but Maidana has a clean face cause those punches had nothing behind them
Nahh, there was this one fan(base?) who said that Rakhim Chakhkiev would beat Wladimir Klitschko.
The same fan(base?) calls GGG a hypejob but praises Matthysse and Chakhkiev even tough Golovkin is more skilled and the better fighter than both of them combined.
Ridiculous.
Maybe if GGG ever steps in the ring against a fighter with a pulse you can make such claims. All I have ever asked, I am still waiting & so is everyone else, years later. Must be frustrating being a diehard fan of this guy.
Both guys & plenty of far lesser fighters go through GGGs resume like a knife through butter.
Kesslers another that is interested in fighting GGG but we all know there will be excuses & GGG will go do his usual of fighting a fisherman from Montego bay
If you're asking to sustained more damage in the fight then I'd have to say Floyd. Chino looked like he spent a day at the spa after the fight. While all of Chinos shots didn't land clean the ones that did were very thudding. Even the ones that landed on the arms, shoulders of Floyd were damaging. Floyd landed the cleaner punches but they were scoring based punches and not damage inflicting punches.
The only rounds Mayweather won decisively were nine and ten.

I am seriously starting to think Maidana has the most delusional fanbase in boxing history.

Which was more effective: Maidana's volume punching? or Mayweather's pot shots? | BoxingScene Community
