Is Mayweather really the most skilled, fighter active today..?
People seem to ignore his inability to throw combinations, and for me personally his offense or lack of one! is the reason why some pressure fighters like Maidana, like Hatton where able to get in the fight with him. If people really analyse Floyd Mayweather he is one dimensional offensively, he very rarely throws combinations and constantly has to reset after 1-2 punches, 1...rest...1...rest...1...2 rest! this is a great style of fighting for punch stats, but this is not amateur boxing.
I don't think Mayweather is the most skilled fighter active today, i know these days because of the media! when you hear the term..."Defensive genius" people automatically associate this will the assumption that Mayweather can do everything else......you would think Mayweather is the first person ever in history to avoid a punch! he was banged about badly the other night.
There has never been a point in Mayweather's career where he was able to throw combinations like Roy Jones Junior, Sugar Ray Leonard.....
Andre Ward has a better offense than Mayweather, people need to understand! this fight against Maidana was picked because it was a marketable fight and..? set up for a Mayweather stoppage or one sided beat down! but this did not happen, because WATCH THE FIGHT! Mayweather's offense is one dimensional, one paced, and its almost predictable these days.
Teddy Atlas sums it up best...
