Mayweather really had trouble with Ricky Hatton:lol1:. It's simple, Floyd is old and not prime any longer. He would of taken care of Margarito.
What's your excuse for Castillo?
I was amazed to see Maidana holding his ground in the center of the ring, making Floyd miss, controlling distance, landing leads... We haven't seen anything like it in this type of combination and it's going completely unappreciated by the fanboys, know-it-alls and neophytes.
I'm surprised not many people have brought this up. Very impressed by that,
Maidana is arguably the most underrated fighter in history
People simply don't get who he is
Maidana still not getting his props.
He's not "elite" but he's capable of making better fighters struggle and/or beat them.

Fighters who apply pressure and punch their way in give boxer-fencers who need room to work and prefer to attack in straight lines like Mayweather fits. From Castillo to Maidana. Floyd's ability to fight in transition and separate offense and defense have always been his greatest weaknesses. He was never in the class of Whitaker or Duran; truly multi dynamic fighters that can seamlessly defend and attack, attack and defend at the highest level.

I agree. He whopped Ortiz and broner. He nearly beat Floyd.
Paul Williams was a tall fighter with a pretty worthless jab...who wasted much of his reach.
He was tall, but he lacked great technique...and his volume punching could be decreased by countering.
Well, for some odd reason, he won 41 times and his only two losses came at the hands of other southpaws, which Floyd is not. Boxing is not always about technique, but the will of the fighter to make his style overcome his opponent.
Most of the best "boxers" he faced were southpaws...Quintana, Martinez, Mitchell, Wright, et al.
Guys like Matthysse, Cintron and Margarito weren't counterpunchers.
damn right it does lol duran would have murdered floyd last night
Floyd is also 7 years removed from his prime. How about Duran 7 years removed his prime vs Floyd 7 years removed from his prime???
In 06 PWill completely dominated Margarito. What did a win against Margarito ever do for any bodies career?
Have you ever watched that fight? It was one if the best welterweight match-ups of the past decade and razor close. Paul started brilliantly and Margarito came on a like a train in the second half of the fight. No one dominated.

An ATG that fought him 4 times, and was obsessed with him. :boxing:
Ain't no shame. 18-1 underdog. Let's put that into perspective. :bottle:
But you fail to realize Maidens lost.
Wrong. Quintana was a southpaw too. Just like Martinez is. Not a coincidence those are his only two losses. Paul, a tall rangy southpaw with shots coming from everywhere at a high rate, with an 84 inch reach spells doom for Floyd.

Paul Williams, the guy who lost to Carlos Quintana?
I do'nt know, I don't think Mayweather would've wanted to face Williams, but if he had, I think he'd have even more success countering Wiliams than Quintana had.

The "blueprint" was laid out long ago. Its the reason why floyd has refused to fight strong pressure fighters who throw tons of punches. Instead he seeks out a guy who "was impressive in his last fight", who will just stand there and try to out box him.
I agree. Expect to see Mayweather fight bums that try to box him next instead of a rematch with chino.
