Clear, accurate punches win fights...aggression is cool and you may even win some rounds but why cant people seem to score a fight (w/ common sense included)??
Maidana fought his ass off....and your right FMJ did look bad because Maidana but I just hate how Floyd gets no credit. He basically tamed Maidana, I was watching from the opening bell to see what MAyweather gets hit with and I swear he was rolling everything except the million body shots on the ropes and a couple of sneaky rights MAidana through. Floyd had him missing all night. That coupled with precision that was a clear win in my eyes....how did you have it?
I had it 7-5 for Floyd. I can see 7-5 for either guy or a draw. I don't think you can make a compelling case for either dude winning 8 rounds.
I have plenty of respect for Floyd from his performance last night. He fought through a ton of adversity to earn the W on my card. But I have even more respect for Maidana for sticking it to everybody who said he wasn't legit and would be TKO'd.
It's hard not to be taken by the kind of performance he gave when you're as big an underdog as he was.
That always happens when the B side fighter doesn't lay down like expected. The underdogs are always unappreciated and overlooked, meanwhile the A side fighter gets to fight with all advantages and still gets the opportunity to have all of the excuses as well. Just the way it is.
I've been a fan a long time. I get that.
That doesn't make it any fairer, though.
And not to make an excuse but the weight advantage Maidana had, allowed him to be just that more physical and stronger with Floyd, usually you never see FLoyd on the ropes for as long as he was.
What's really pissing me off this morning is people making excuses for Mayweather based on his age, or personal distractions, or whatever-the-f*ck.
Yeah, he looked like sh*t last night. Because Maidana made it so. Chino fought his ass off to walk through Floyd's excellent offense so he could put him on the ropes and do his own work, and he deserves credit for that instead of a bunch of bitter d*cks making excuses about it.
I couldn't be any happier for Maidana than I am right now, even in defeat. Nobody gave him a chance in this fight. I even saw dudes predicting he'd get "Gatti'd, FFS. I said it many times before the fight : There was no way in hell Mayweather was stopping Chino.

never watched taylor vs chavez
but in regards to mayweather vs maidana
this is where "flashy" comes in, the reason you have people on here saying floyd won "easy", "8-4", "wasn't close at all" etc
alot of floyds punches didn't land neither, and alot of it was weak as hell, he usually potshots with alot more pop, but maidana seriously broke the guy down
my definition of breaking him down is him not leaving on his two feet

I have no problem with that BUT this is the part where I bring up Meldrick Taylor vs JCC lol. You can dish out the most damage but still lose a fight.

guy that does more damage

Yeah thats true. Floyd will be sore but Marcos is relentless no one should have expected anything less out of him. I just dont see how people logically have him ahead.
I can see 7-5 Floyd or Draw. Floyd didn't deserve more rounds than that and Chino gave away a few too many rounds to really get the victory but a Draw was well deserved I thought.
Floyd and Danny both received the most damage. Had Herrera winning and the Moment was a miscarried Draw.

I don't have a problem with either of your scorecards. They were both very close fights that, depending on what you were looking for, could've gone either way.
I want Garcia to rematch Matthysse first, though.
Yeah I brought up that fight because it was controversial. I just want to see what people look for when watching a fight to determine who wins. Or do they just look at bit and pieces and say "well he had him against the ropes...."
I had Garcia losing. 8-4 Mauricio, same score this fight.

This.
I had Garcia and Mayweather winning both (admittedly very close) fights seven rounds to five, and would love to see rematches for both.

Those fights have nothing in common besides two guys wearing gloves and punching.
I could have used a different fight but I choose this for a reason. So people just dont count the jab to the body FM was piercing Maidana with the whole night just like Herriera used?
