It has almost become ceremonial for Khan to say "you'll see a new amir khan for this fight", but for this fight he did seem to box like a veteran against Collazo. The defense was very impressive and didn't get emotional and caught in an exchange. Holding was too much at times though.
So guys do you see change/improvements in Khan's style?
Also 4-0 vs Brooklyn. :biggthump
Khans power has also increased, he's sitting on his punches and throwing them with some intention
Not every boxer at 147 can take a shot like Collazo - his toughness is underestimated and was understated in that fight, he took big shots and kept coming back for more like Liquid Metal in Terminator 2
Other boxers might not have got back up
I agree with all of the above.
In Hunter's defense I made a point before May 3rd that Khan boxed well vs Diaz minus the knockdown as he was picking his shots well and this fight proved it.
Also countless posters predicted Collazo KTFO Khan especially that "thack" guy and Khan made him look ordinary and somehow Luis is a bum now.
I wouldn't call it "rapid". Dude was out of the ring for 12 months...
It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks whether it was 12 or 24 months and Khan was a 7-8 year pro when he went to Hunter. Khan gets emotional and let's him self open and has almost no defense. So I'd say Hunter turned him around quite well and quick for 12 months. Still tons of work to be done, but that's any fighter.
Khan's still going to struggle against a puncher, Collazo hurt him tonight but couldn't capitalise. He really needs to secure that Mayweather fight if that's his ultimate aim because I don't see him beating the likes of Porter and Thurman.
True, he was stung in the 8, but we have seen Khan in many fight stung way worse and then hit with even bigger shots, by hard punchers and light punchers, so for him to be stung only once and to recover back so quick is amazing. He didnt do the dance, so i dont think he was hurt that bad, maybe panicked a little
I know it only takes one punch, but the way he fought Collazo, gives him a better chance of avoiding those shots, the hooks

He stil never got back the skill and confidence he used to have and his best days are behind him. He's very afraid to get hit. Ring IQ is mediocre now. Collozo is not a victory to be boasting over and a real contender would have lit Kahn up. Collozo rarely threw when he had opportunities.
If anything Khan has improved his skills adding defense to that killer offense. Holding is no doubt excessive at times. As for Ring IQ I mean Collazo is a dude hard to look good against and Khan knocked'em down 3 times and made him look quite ordinary, so I'd say his Ring IQ is above mediocre also added the fact he has a glass chin and he has to work with that.
Who knows, khan might come into his own now and have a big second run. He's always had the length and speed to give anyone trouble, and he could always box, but like others have said never put it all together properly. I know collazo isn't an elite fighter and fought **** tonight, but a lot of that was khan's movement and speed giving him fits. I'm serious In saying that the khan tonight would give anyone serious problems. He's moving to the right places at the right times now and not leaving as many openings.
Couldn't have said it better.
Khan fought a smart, dirty fight.
He didn't lunge in to a counter.. That's Virgil's influence at work. However, Collazo disappointed me a bit with his effort. I think Khan's only answer up close is to hold or push someone's head down. Collazo should have found a way to keep his forehead from dipping below Khan's waist, he's not gonna land any legal punches from there + it's tiring. Also, wtf would Collazo go at Khan with his hands down for about 4 rounds of the fight....but Khan definitely seems to have a trainer that will help protect his chin.... Good things for Khan overall.
To be honest, I think Collazo was doing everything that he could. Khan's style is just so different, it seems like a lot of fighters go in thinking they know what to expect then when they get in there with him they have no idea what to do and its so frustrating. Imagine some little kid running up and punching you in the face then running away, and just as you catch up to him he punches you again and runs. Lol that's why Collazo started low blowing, he was like F that noise.
Yeah it'll be a good fight vs either Brook/Porter, because if Khan wins that gets him a belt, so then with his name how can he not get the Mayweather fight?
I think it will be Porter who comes through that Brook/Porter fight, and Porter will be a very, very difficult fight for Khan. Porter is such an aggressive bull dog, it will be difficult for Khan to be on his bike all fight.

I think he will have to get through the Brook/Porter winner in Nov/Dec first.

He is, but from a puncher it will only take one to get through. He went to 147 to fight Floyd, I hope he gets that fight.

Yeah definitely shook him, but I think he recovered fairly well. Also agree Collazo isn't a huge puncher, but I think Khan is getting better at avoiding those huge punches that shatter his chin (albeit with questionable tactics).

From the flush left hook. Maybe not hurt, but it shook him up, you see what I'm saying. Collazo is not a puncher.

When was Khan hurt? In the 8th? Lol he wasn't hurt, I just re-watched it. Maybe stunned for a few seconds but I wouldn't say he was hurt.
We may never know for sure, because it was something only he could feel, but whatever it was he recovered well and fast.
