Yes, folks! Floyd vs Maidana needs 1.5 million PPV buys to at least break even.
"Espinoza said it is always a tricky proposition trying to select an opponent for Mayweather that will be able to hit big numbers. So far in two shows he has run the gamut with a low of 870,000 buys for his first match on Showtime against Robert Guerrero to a high of 2.2 million for Alvarez."
“We look for two things. One is the best, most competitive opponent and two being the most entertaining fight,” he said. “The most competitive opponent could be because of style, strength or youth. This will be the third different opponent. Our first two approaches on paper looked solid, but Mayweather’s skill level wins out. Here the pure relentlessness, aggression and pressure (of Maidana) is something that is going to give us something entertaining.”
"Espinoza does not have any projections on what the Mayweather-Maidana fight will generate on pay per view. But Mayweather needs to get at least 1.5 million to justify the $32 million guarantee that Showtime is giving him as a minimum for each of those six fights in the contract."

Yikes I guess they over payed Floyd again..
Undercards stalked up, Floyd being paid in millions. the biggest loser is the tv provider.
I think signing Floyd was more the investment of getting the #1 fighter in the world on your network, getting more people interested in your network. Floyd probably did around 900K for Guerrero, losing a bit of money I'm sure. But at the same time, he hit well over 2 million, what could end up being 2.5 million with Canelo. So he more then made up for it. Even if Maidana hits around the same as Guerrero or in the low 1 million range, he can have another big fight to make up for it.
I still guarantee you that to this day if they ever made Floyd vs Pacquiao, it could hit 3 million buys in the long run.
It's bull****. Mayweather got the same 32 million guarantee for Guerrero and Guerrero got twice as much as Maidana. That needed 1.1 million to break even but this needs 1.5?
Pacquiao and Bradley 2 had total guarantees of 26 million. Selling under 800k they must have lost money if going by the same calculations.
Yup he did get his 32mill with that flop of a fight.. Showtime up to now ain't getting their return of investment. Showtime is bleeding and they know they got to make sure Floyd's last remaining fights should be competitive fights not this lopsided exhibition fight that we already know who will win on points.
Maidana's chances is a Hail Mary shot. It's like getting hit by a lightning strike it never happens unless you get lucky and get hit by one.
Lol at this Floyd lovers who can't handle the truth.
You Guys should know that your boy is over paid and showtime ain't earning Jack.
Words from your master conman boxer. 'Daylight robbery baby!'
And this is from a reliable source. I didn't write this one floyd lovers. It's just simply the damn truth.
you know you are wrong bit#h.

IDK if all those numbers are correct. If they are then it still doesnt matter until the contract ends because he can make it up by having another big fight like Canelo.
Most of all though, the point that people are missing is that maybe Showtime wasnt even looking to make huge money with Floyd. Sometimes things arent about the guy himself but changing the culture. You added the #1 guy to your stable and in turn, a ton of other fighters joined Showtime after that. Even if they lose money in the short term, they feel they can makeup for it in the long term by them now becoming the #1 boxing channel or atleast way closer to HBO than before
Slurp slurp slurp
Some people just are not smart. Since Mayweather signed...as well as the whole Golden Boy deal with Showtime....they have increased monthly subscribers by 1,000,000. HBO has lost 500,000. Both Premium stations are hurting from the increased loses due to hulu & netflix. At $14.99 a month and the 1 million new memberships they attribute to Mayweather and Golden Boy Showtime has gained $14,990,000 a month is subscriber revenue. Over a year that number is close to $180 MILLION. Now not all that is showtimes money as providers get some. However you must account these net gains into the fights. To say mayweather loses a major company money that is owned by CBS is laughable. They wouldnt have made the deal if that was the case.
Stacked undercard homey. So many bills to pay.
1.5(khan)+1.25(broner)+0.35(luis)+0.1(molina) = 3.2 mln (+ ****ty Love...)... is this huge money?????Cotto made around 12 mln!!!And see the gate revenue - 15 mln, May-Cotto was 12 mln.
32(Floyd)+1.5(Maidana)+3.5(undercard)=37 mln
Mayweather-Cotto:
45(Floyd)+12(Miguel)+undercard 1-2mln = 59 mln (!!!!) they gets when made 1.5 mln buys...
So why Floyd vs Maidana needs 1.5 million PPV to break even?Tell me!
And again... 1.5 mln needs to pay Floyd's 32 mln purse... are you kidding me?who said this?Tim Smith?Mayweather-Cotto: Floyd was pursed 32 mln guaranteed also, Cotto 8 (not ****ing little Maidana's purse) mln and when they made 1.5 mln buys they get BONUS!!! - Floyd ~13 mln Cotto ~4 mln.
1.5 mln buys it's a HUGE numbers.You don't know **** about PPV

When SHO starts cutting its boxing budget back and we go multiple weekends without a fight, its gonna suck
HBO was smart to develop new talent (GGG, Kovalev, Ruslan, Rios, Lomenchenko, Zou Shiming, etc) that doesn't cost much so they can give us more weekends of boxing
Once this card flops (I'm predicting around 500k) its the beginning of the end for SHO Boxing
Keep praying for that 500k. LOL

Sorry this isn't a Top rank fight with a crap under card.
It's not the ppv, it's him choosing crappy fights when he should fight competitive fights that will push him to be great. Hence, the network gets there rightful investment and Floyd gets to keep his money he deserves.
This article just shows Floyd's fight aren't producing good numbers for the tv networks return of investment. Big picture homey.
Floyd cherry picking ways is causing the tv network to lose money.
I hear ya, but let's just enjoy the fight tomorrow!
I still luh ya spoon! :boxing:

Pretty much this. If I'm gonna say it for Pac, Imma say it for Floyd. Who the fugg cares!?

Its hilarious how many people suddenly care about how profitable a tv network is. Floyd gets paid regardless. There's been like 10 threads about the same topic. Its not Floyd responsibility to figure out how to make the network profitable. anything over 800,000 PPVs for any fighter is a great number.
