You're exaggerating. Tell us who he was supposed to fight, keeping in mind that when he fought Chad Dawson, Kovaelev and Adonis Stevenson weren't even on anybodies Top list, as they were nobodies. You can't even say that he ducked anybody since these guys just emerged last year and one of them (Stevenson) is about to fight Hopkins. I'm not sure what the problem is, other then you being a bit irrational. Irrational is the best way to describe the majority of posters on this site, especially those against Hopkins. I watched the Hopkins/Porter/Quillin fights with my family members and 2 friends. We all had fun, Hopkins gave us some laughs and "oohs", it was a great night, good discussions. Then I come here to, how Mangler called it "Non Stop B*tching" and see so called "hardcore" fans b-tching day in and day out about a fight. Like old grumpy men, not being able to say anything positive about the night of boxing. Hell, I dislike Pac, and all I did was praise his latest fight on how good it was, but these guys in this thread all they do is constantly talk negative about fighters who don't have the style they like, or the color. I'm the bad poster? The non-boxing fan. These guys have to look in the mirror.

Good post. Thank you Loaded, I just don't think some realize how smart and great Hopkins actually Is. We will certainly never see a fighter of his caliber In our lifetimes again. Yes, there are other great fighters out there, but none that are fighting guys 20 years younger than they are and making It look easy, as Hopkins does.

But of course you do. 1. Why is Hopkins still fighting? According to his own admission, it's to unify all the World Title Belts. He began that process tonight. 2. If he wants to unify that means that he has to fight Adonis Stevenson - the Real Champion of 175, which now seems pretty likely since Stevenson joined showtime (ducking Kovalev in the process, but that's his business not B-Hop's). 3. Embrace what is happening and stop whining about a 50 year old fighting bad opponents. The only reason he fought his previous opponent was so he can keep his IBF Title in order to unify it with the WBA. And prior to that, all of his opponents were top 10 at 175 (Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud are top Light-Heavy's). Its all the bhop fans that are crying, they cant handle a little bit of realism.

Anyway, with that off my chest, Hopkins had limited options. He fought the best guy possible, that he hadn't already fought, and was available. Sure Shumenov is average, but there wasn't many options left. With Stevenson on the Haymon/Sho train, Hopkins has a very good fight ahead of him in Canada, and as we heard, he and GBP are down for it.
