Abner Mares hires Virgil Hunter?

Is this real? Terrible move.

I hope this is not true..Hunter makes no sense for Mares style.. Maybe Mares realizes he can no longer fight at 126 the way he was fighting at 118-122, and he's looking to hire a trainer to add new weapons to his arsenal. He's a relatively small featherweight. He fought off the back foot against Ponce de Leon. It seems Mares has not yet mentally recovered from his knockout loss.

Wait till Ward signs with Top Rank. Steve Kim will be all but polishing his knob then. To me Mares and Nacho is the best pairing. But I don't know what happened between them or if that relationship is repairable.

I don't like this pairing at all. Mares' confidence appears to be shaken. Since he likely wouldn't go back with Nacho (#1 option), I would've liked to see Mares work with Joel Diaz. Looks like Mares already worked with Diaz lol

Don't know why every body hates Virgil. I mean all the fighters that come to him already suck. I'm sure he can do something with abner Yeah, but they go to him to improve. Good coaches improve fighters, see Robert Garcia and Maidana. I don't know about Hunter yet, time will tell. This doesn't sound like a complimentary pairing tho.
