What I HATE about the current Welterweight division is that all of the fighters there are just guys who moved up from lower weight classes, won their titles from other small guys who moved
None of them have ever had to face a Tommy Hearns and Floyd was even to scared to step into the ring with Margarito, Sergio Martinex got blackballed at Welterweight
Hell, Paul Williams could have crushed Oscar, Pacman and Floyd if given the chance
It's just a ridiculous situation, lightweights have monopolized the Welterweight division forcing the real Welterweight to move up
If Floyd isn't going to fight real Welterweights why not just stay down at Lightweight or something? oh wait, that's right, "Welterweight" is just so much more marketable
And how about winning titles in multiple weight classes?
Yuri Foreman got handed the title at 154
Cotto (A light Welterweight) was able to take it off him, obviously
Mayweather beats the 140 fighter, yet is somehow a champion at 154?
I could imagine Hearns just 12-0 the little fraud
Lol Tommy Hearns a real WW? The guy who started at 147 and went up to win titles in 4 other weight classes including 175? And even fought at Cruiserweight? That's your definition of a real WW? :lol1:
Yea Manny is a real Flyweight and the new Flyweights are picking on little guys

Dude said Mosley don't count because he moved up from LW which disqualified him from being a REAL WW :lol1:....that logic disqualifies Floyd as well....so what's the point?!?....TS just Cheddar Bob'd and Plexico'd himself lol
I think I ****ed up this thread
I should have just made it a topic on there not being any REAL Welterweights in the division currently and ignored Mayweather
That would have been smarter but you would have ended up in the same place more likely than not because you are talking the weight class where the popular fighters reside, so even if it started better the ending was always going to be the same.

When you say size what do you mean? Height? Weight?
Man meat.
I think the op is saying floyd never
Had a true welter weight meat . Its always a small guy .
He hasnt even ever beat of a true welter ,ellerbe
Isnt packing nothing more then a snail.
No, by size
Hearns is my ideal REAL Welterweight
and a great Welterweight fighter is anyone who could beat him
Pacman has had a bit of an easy road too, just Floyd is more relevant atm
Duran wasn't a Welterweight, that's why his win over SRL is so impressive
and again, how many wins against real Welterweights do the rest of those guys have?
hearns is the one of the biggest WWs i have ever seen, if thats what you have to be in order to be considered a real 147lber there have only been two or three of them in the history of the sport.
in reality mosley, baldomir, DLH, canelo, cotto and ortiz are all real welterweights. they are all bigger than floyd too, along with hatton and judah who were smallish welterweights but still bigger than floyd.
Agreed.
But in this case I think the rankings go hand in hand. As you wouldn't drop Cotto below Mosley after Cotto had lost to Margarito, as Cotto had still beaten Mosley after all.
So how would you rank Marquez, Pacquiao and Bradley situation then?
Ring and lineal are two different things.
Agreed.

There was nearly a year and a half between Mosley demolishing Margarito and fighting Floyd and because the Berto fight fell through, he didn't fight in between.
The Ring belt wasn't on the line when Mosley fought Margarito as Cotto was still ranked second. They didn't make an exception to let Mosley who was ranked 3rd or 4th at the time, fight for the belt. So he wasn't lineal by any means when Floyd fought him.
