He wasn't whipping him. Seen the fight plenty of times to know that. Let's not forget Margarito was going into the fight with an injury as well on top of inactivity.
Margarito was still clearly losing the fight before Clottey hurt his hand. He was getting hit cleanly, countered regularly and couldn't land anything of notice because he punches slow as hell.
Did Clottey really broke his hand in that fight?
No, just bruised.
I believe so. Around round 4, Clottey begins to complain about his hand hurting. He started throwing soft punches with his left and his punch output noticeably dropped. Before that, he was clearly whipping Margarito's ass.

Damn this woud be old school... Two heavy handed punchers going at it with nobody backing down. I see sheer violence. I'd pray for the health of these two if they ever locked horns.

Clottey. He'll be able to handle Kirkland's high work rate. Clottey will get the timing down and start picking him apart in the middle of Kirkland's combinations like he was doing with Margarito until his hand broke.

Kirkland would take this. Clottey in his biggest fights reverted into a shell during the second half of fights. He was doing great against Margarito before staying in a shell. Wouldn't throw back against Manny either.
Just feel that James can push him back into the ropes and use his left uppercut to keep Clottey in his shell..
Look at the damage Clottey did to Pacquiao without doing much at all.

Imagine what he would have done if he was not fighting while focusing on clenching his sphincter for 12 rounds. Clottey will destroy Kirkland.

Strar boxing (Joe Degaudria).
Close with banner which is also close with Top Rank
Ok, good stuff man so that puts him more towards the hbo pool. Which means the Kirkland fight is prolly the most attractive for him at that weight.either way would be explosive if Joshua chose to open up for that fight.manny said clottey power is very underrated. That wouldn't be good for the "Mandingos" chin.
Once Kirkland start punching in bunches Clottey will go into a shell and lose a decision.
I don't know...
Kirkland isn't very fast and throws wide shots.
Clottey could catch him with a short fast combo in between his punches.
clottey is the best at 154. he was clearly drained at 147 which is why his work rate was so low. floyd and canelo don't want any part of clottey. floyd will stay at 147 and canelo will move up to 160 to avoid him. clottey will be #1 by the end of the year.
I have to go with Clottey if this fight ever happens.
Kirkland is just to chinny, Clottey's better technique, chin and defense would be enough for him to win.
The grand master is too mentally strong for kirkland.
This too. Clottey is about as tough as it gets in more ways than one. Plus, even though Kirkland is very active, Clottey had more trouble with Manny's speed than I think he would with Kirkland's. I think we could see Kirkland stopped, maybe late if he punches himself out and Clottey manages to remain fresh with his defense.
Yes sir....I'll take that fight over Nelo-Lara any day.....Lara and Nelo is a very relevant fight and they're gonna play chess....I have nothing against that.....but Kirkland and Clottey would get it turned way up....I think that fight can actually be made....no cold war implications with those two....let's get it :boxing:
