Does Cotto even have the slightest chance to win? Or is it 99% that Martinez walks away with the W? How many rounds do you think Cotto can steal against Martinez?
I'd say yes, Cotto can pull it off. He's an exceptional fighter with high caliber experience and shouldn't ever be doubted. Can he knock Martinez out? Doubt it.. maybe wobble him I just can't picture Cotto actually landing with enough power to KO Martinez for a single knockdown and outboxing Martinez just seems brutal to do given the weight difference.
Will the 159 CW actually make a difference? Is Martinez too old? Will his bones hold up? Opinions?
Martinez wants Cotto to come at him. He wants bull Cotto with bodywork. That's not what he's getting in the ring at fight night. Look at the early training videos. Lot of foot movement and moving after punching. Keep doubting him doe. June 7th you'll all be witnesses to history, courtesy of the KING.
Fan of both fighters for similar reasons. Cotto has fought everyone, Maravilla has tried to fight everyone in his prime. When this fight was made i thought Cotto but more than he could chew. Now, with Maravilla talking retirement after the first week of training, and not being able to train for a whole year due to injuries. Cotto def. has a chance, big chance. That defence with hands down and reflexes don't work for an aging fighter. See: Roy Jones Jr
I pretty much agree with this.
If Sergio shows up in the same shape as in the Chavez jr fight , then Cotto has little or no chance.
But indeed, if Maravilla's knee keep him from training hard, then age could be a big factor in Cotto's favor.
Depends whether age has affected Martinez enough, usually I would say Martinez storms through easily.
Still think Martinez should take it easily though.
If anything but an absolutely shot to pieces Martinez shows up, he destroys a game and financially motivated Cotto. That being said, this is a 50/50 fight because Sergio is so obviously done.
I wouldn't call that 50/50, but more like '100% dependant on what Martinez shows up', but you pretty much summed up my thoughts on the fight. This is one of those fights I wouldn't guess about just because nobody out side of the Martinez camp really knows all of the variables.
How often do you ever see Martinez get hit on the body? That's one advantage of fighting with your hands down.
Good point there, but apparently Cotto should be having a killer left hook. I'm thinking he can catch Martinez with a left while Martinez is stepping around to Cotto's left. If he can land the left up top, feinting would work great.
Donaire had Nishioka glue his right hand to his face in fear of left hooks, not making a direct comparison but Cotto needs to make Martinez react the way he wants him to react and be able to control the rhythm of the fight, Cotto needs to depend on combination punching not a single shot to turn the tide of the fight.
Roach better have been doing body shot drills, I think if Cotto can hit the body well enough in the first 7-8 rounds without gassing(or getting KOd), rounds 9 and after Martinez should be prime for stoppage. I just can't see Cotto truly hurting Martinez, but I can see Martinez landing left hands that shake Cotto's world.
Cotto has to be accurate and busy otherwise he has no chance, I'd prefer him to get a fast start in the first round, as the smaller man he shouldn't let Martinez find a distance to keep him at with the jab early on.

Easy work for Martinez. I don't think Cotto should have taken this fight. We all remember what happened the last time Cotto fought a southpaw with speed. Throw in size, power, and technical skills and you have Martinez.
Cotto is a warrior but I almost fear for his safety in this fight. Very very dangerous.

Cotto should be retired, he is a shell of his former self, at a weight that he does not belong even close too.
Martinez will have an advantage in size, speed, power, stamina, reach, basically any category you can think of, Martinez will have a significant advantage.
You are a joke puta & I take them kind of points too.. :439:

Where is the pm puto? I thought so play with your bs kid points with a puto like yourself :fing26:
The only question mark is how healthy Martinez is...otherwise I wouldn't give Cotto much of a chance.
This.....Cotto can win if Martinez gets injured and slows down in the fight. Cotto has done nothing at 154 and is now challenging the MW champ. He has a chance if Martinez gets injured but on an even scale he loses
Cotto is a great fighter, no disrespect, but we are all about to see why Mayweather and Pacquiao stay away from 160. Guys like Martinez, Chavez Jr. and GGG have the power to punch welterweights into early retirement.
Cotto should come out like he did against Rodriguez and go for the jugular early don't let the older inactive Martinez get comfy if he gets caught so be it.
Roach wants an aggressive output he can't do that for the entire fight strike fast/hard see what happens maybe he can take Sergio's legs away and then pick him off much easier.
I do think Cotto has a chance to beat Martinez if he has a great game plan. By using his legs and boxing Martinez. Landing enough shots and using his jab and moving around the ring like he did agains't MargaCheato in their second fight. He might be able to beat Martinez with his speed. I am picking Martinez to beat Cotto in this one though. I just think Martinez will feel Cotto out for the first three rounds and will be to strong for him. Once Martinez is comfortable he will let his hands down and that means he's in the zone like the homie 2 3. Pretty much will take over from there. I do see Cotto winning at least 4 rounds but I predict Martinez stopping him in the 11 round in this one. Martinez wants to be his own judge on fight night not letting it go to the score cards.
Silly puto I bet real money not bs kid points. If you serious put your money were your mouth is and pm with your amount. Not joking

Look I'm not going to waste time looking up all your post and how stupid you sound when your talking a 3 time World Champion but when you use the word {Embarrassment} loosely in front of 15 thousand fans in MSG on FREAKING RICAN WEEKEND shows the lack of respect for game and the
3 time World Champion that Cotto is and I know you properly don't know this but your going have to due more than just embarrass Cotto that night and short of killing him is not accepted. It's going to be a war, where true will and determination will win that fight.. If it was Martinez 3 years ago I would say Cotto doesn't have a chance but not now..Cotto will win rounds and I'll put all my points up that he wont get knocked out..
PRPP:boxing:
Cotto will be embarrassed.
But keep on fighting the fight. I love the passion
STFU or put your points where your mouth is.. :439:
