I think Guillermo Rigondeaux is one of the most underrated active boxers today. The guy is probably the greatest amateur boxer of all time and easily defeated a top ten pound for pound boxer in only his 12th pro fight. He's also one of the most technically proficient active fighters today and I honestly believe he would truly give Floyd a run for his money if they were the same size.
So why does this dude get so much hate?
Gonzalez may very well be an ATG in the making. He is definitely underappreciated, even among boxing fans.
I don't know about Narvaez though. He deserves credit for longevity and has some ok wins, but his non-effort in the biggest fight of his career (Donaire) was disgraceful.
Narvaez is an awesome fighter, its that no one pays attention to those weights and dont know the things Narvaez is doing.
Same with Cruiserweights cuz the last time Cunningham was IBF 200lbs champ he had beaten the other three belt holders of the time (jones, huck and krystof) already at some point. Two in World title fights and he beat jones when he himself was a prospect, but Jones had fought for a title twice already at that point only to become a champ later on. Cruisers get no attention, so alot of people may not realize and appreciate Cunningham for this.

Probably near the most overrated tbh. He's FAR from underrated if anything. Being hated for his nyquil type style doesn't mean he's underrated...
Rigo is pretty much accepted as the champion of his division. Underrated may be the wrong word. If anything he has become the scapegoat for blood and guts fans that dont like technicians.
8/10 because you are a Rigo fan. For me, a Donaire fan, it was torture. Ruined my mood for half a day, and that's about the worst a sporting event can do to me.
You wait for your guy to finally get going, the rounds are going by, and it's just not happening...
It must've sucked to be on the other end of that one. I was at the fight live, and the Donaire fans all seemed to have your reaction. As the fight wore on, they had less and less to cheer for. I've certainly seen more entertaining and competitive fights; but I thought that, from an objective standpoint, the fight was pretty enjoyable...if you appreciate pure boxing skill. I think that few 122 lb fighters could've beaten Rigo that night. He was razor-sharp.
It was a great win. I've seen the fight a few times. I think it rates about an 8/10 in terms of enjoyability factor. Rigo was masterful.

rigo is really only underrated on boxing boards where most of the members are younger and prefer power over skill. I had him beating Donaire and wasn't suprised that Rigo looked so good.
I wouldn't argue with anyone who has him in the top 3-5 boxers in the world.
It WAS huge, the best single win in 2013. People will appreciate it even more when Donaire beats Vetyeka and goes on to unifiy the FW division.
Donaire will be to Rigo what Darch was to him. And maybe one day the rematch will happen (though I don't hold my breath).

I really like the bold. I think there's a lot of truth to it. Or maybe it was just huge to us. lol

I've seen a lot of people say he would beat a prime Manny Pacquaio so no I don't think he's underrated.
He's not underrated, he beat one great fighter and now he's considered a god.
I really don't understand how anyone who reads these boards can ask if Rigo's underrated. He's just not. I've seen a few guys known to hate him and his style acknowledge "El Chacal's" quality.
lol what a ridiculous post... Donaire is a knockout king ... ko'ing champions in unification bouts and ko'ing top tens in his own weight class with tremendous speed, counter punching and power for his size.. the guy was a wrecking machine and now all of a sudden he's garbage???? people forget they claimed Donaire was going to blow Rigo away simply because Rigo was kd'd shortly before the fight...
Rigo took an extremely powerful, skilled and fast guy to school.. the biggest win in boxing for a really long time... nobody has a win like that ,not pac,not mayweather nobody
and the best part was how one sided it was.. Rigo is without a doubt the best boxer alive

Ignore him. He's a Floyd mayweather conspiracy theorist. The whole world revolves around Floyd mayweather to him. Him and his fans are the blame for everything. Crazy, I know.
