Not sure how anybody could have such a club-footed, one-dimensional guy as a 4/1 favourite over any fighter with a chin and some boxing ability
Lets be fair, Stevens either catches you in 1 with a left hook or spends the duration waddling around like a penguin with a bad case of the sh*ts.
Honestly though why does he drag his back foot like that?
He has a good left hook, good timing but he doesn't hit anywhere near as hard as people claim. His power comes from his speed, hes not heavy handed.
Tureano Johnson was an amateur stand out, in fact he boxed at the olympics losing out to Kanat Islam (Kazakh stand out, up & comer who is blitzing everything in his path)
Stevens should not be such a favourite IMHO, he has a punchers chance & nothing more!
I've seen enough of Stevens against pressure and guys who can take his power. Tureano knows he only has one punch to look out for.
He has been out for a year but still as long as he don't get caught cold, Tureano Johnson for the upset.
Stevens needs room to operate. He had ZERO success when GGG or Findley was it? was on his chest. He is a mid-range hooker
Hugely limited fighter with no movement.
He will be squared up as usual and look to land the left hook as Johnson comes forward. If it misses or Johnson takes it Stevens will get beaten up from then on.
Johnson will get in his grill and take lumps out of Stevens as he does nothing as per usual but stand like a squared up dummy with a high guard.
You described the fight to a T except for two things -
1. Johnson got careless
2. You are a HERME.
Have a good night clown.
His power is just average. He can make you honest if he landed clean but that's it.
lol he can knock you spark out if he lands clean. Sorry but the power in his left is not average, it is fight-stopping.
He dropped a guy with a jab off his left in his last fight, stopped a guy in a fight most felt he was losing tonight and two fights before registered one of the most brutal KOs of 2013 with his left hand.
Here is again, the left hook:
A lot of people get caught with flush left hooks and they don't go out like that.
Stevens does have a powerful left hook, but he has to land clean shots to hurt you (Roman, Tureano). He won't hurt you with partially blocked punches. He landed several left hooks earlier in the fight. That last left hook was something different.
That's what I mean when I say he's not heavy-handed.
Lol at ggg fans trying to defend Stevens life and death to make t seem like a legit win for ggg
It was a legit win. Where was the controversy? I've always felt Stevens was overrated though, people saying he'd beat the other champs in the division were going to far. Stevens is an average fighter with power, nothing more.
Who said he had no power? His power comes from speed, he's not heavy handed. GGG, Kovalev are heavy-handed, not Stevens.
He caught him with a flush left hook. What did you expect?

lol yea, no power at all.

If you're referring to me, I wanted Johnson to win. Golovkin has better wins than Stevens so it's irrelevant anyway.
All I was saying is that his power (particularly in his left hand) is legit, something a couple of people have denied.
Very unlucky.
Tureano is decent, but nothing more. He had a good gameplan, showed a good chin and a great conditioning. But he gets hit too much and slaps with some of his punches. His power is average at best.
This fight reminded me of the Findley fight. When Stevens can't get his opponent out of there early, he seems to run out of ideas. He looked clueless tonight. His stamina is questionable and I think his power is overrated. He's not heavy-handed.
Wake me up when he beats a top middleweight contender.

It was a long grueling fight. Both fighters tired and dehydrated. I have no issue with the stoppage. One more that late in a fight can be one too many. If it was earlier in the fight and it ended like that I would have been pi$$ed. Late in the fight, I accept it.
I saw Tureano Johnson on the Golovkin-Proksa card live. He was getting busted up/hurt left and right and got a lucky doctor stoppage over a crappy journeyman. I was laughing at how crappy he was, that's how bad he is.
Stevens should stop him easily and early.
OP gets more props for his wrong call than this post...
