Thurman needs to move up. There are no opportunities at welterweight with Floyd in the mix.
The best business move you can make is take low risk fights in hopes of being cherry picked.
Thurman doesn't qualify as low risk and he will never be a high reward type of guy.
This is why I laughed when people said Bradley should sign with GBP. If anything, Thurman should be at Top Rank. He would have been had gotten the big fights.
I thought that too. Imo he beats Provo, Rios, Marquez (wouldn't fight him), Alvarado and Bradley. Pacquiao is interesting, a 50-50 fight imo.
Ellerbe was actually okay in this interview, he didn't seem too arrogant.
I bet that 40 million dollar check Floyd got about 15 to 20 million went to taxes. About how much did Ellerbee and Al Hayman take ? So how much is left for Floyd he still has to pay those 15 steroid Monster body guards who supply him the goods. He still has his dad and the hand wrap guy. Does he have a towel boy or is it those twin brothers who are found grinning in the back ground. Just curious. By the way did Floyd sign up for Obamacare today ?

They're already scared.
I would bet my house and Larry's life that either Golovkin or Thurman would beat Mayweather if the fights were to happen. Without a doubt.
You should stop with this nonsense about highest KO percentage in history of the middleweight division and all that crap. You know damn well that doesn't mean anything when you are fighting weak competition. There was a junior lightweight who fought in the last decade named Acelino Freitas. He acquired a record of 30-0 with 30 KOs, which is better than Golovkin. However, he did it against stiffs. When he stepped up his competiton, he lost (he quit in the middle of a round after getting the snot beat out of him) against his two best opponents in Diego Corrales and Juan Diaz and won a controversial decision against a third, Joel Casamayor. Golovkin is no different. As soon as he steps up the competition, he will lose. Chavez Jr. is barely a step up in competition and he will beat Golovkin.
Theres a video with Ellerbee saying Floyd dont like fighting black people cause theres no money in it...or something to that nature. I think it was an ESNEWS vid, not sure though.
Fighters don't want to get in the ring with him and he himself acknowledges you can't force them.
Right about now he still remains untested. They need to feed him someone worthy and the ideal opponent is the winner of Brook vs Paulie/Porter.
It's a damn shame how they are not marketing him as much the other clowns they have.

Didn't Malignaggi say something along the same lines and was praised for for "owning" Thurman? Now Ellerbe says almost the same thing, but he's protecting Floyd?
Thurman will never get a Floyd bout. Why? Not because he isn't known, it's because the bigger names refuse to get in the ring with him. Until he is a full champion and not a mandatory he won't be able to make a name for himself.
Until he beats a quality opponent, he won't be able to make a name for himself!!!
I don't know if the OP took the comment in context ... He didn't deny Thurman, he just stated that he's an up & coming good fighter who has yet to be tested.
I believe that is an accurate statement!!!
Let's do a time-machine roll-back to NSB where everyone was talking Matthysse as the big boogie-man killer. And when he stepped up to a higher level of competition (Garcia) all of a sudden he's not what was expected and according to the posts that followed -- He's been exposed!!!
Keith Thurman is in the same boat ... He's crushing C-level competition as he should, but the question still remains: Can he maintain that pattern through the elite levels. And as yet, that question cannot be answered. Sure we can speculate all we want, just like what happened with Matthysse -- but no one really knows until it happens.
I agree with everything you said. It is the same thing I said about Matthysse and Ricky Hatton. I was right in both cases. Unfortunately, we won't get to see Thurman against a quality opponent anytime in 2014.
So its official then?
Thurman is the new boogie man?
Cause you know Canelo was rated higher, had more experience, and fought against better comp then Thurman, when he fought Floyd.
After Floyd whupped him everyone was alot like that retarded caller saying "Canelo was a bbbbbbbbaaaaaabbbbbbyyyy"...

Still upset Porter didn't fight him next, that would have made for the perfect fight.
