I have a disagreement with Dirk Diggler UK on the history of the build up to the Maidana Khan fight.
My memory of it was that there was a deal in place where Maidana revoked his mandatory rights for 3 fights or 1 year whichever was the sooner before he could fight Khan and should he lose 1 of those fight no fight at all.
Dirk Diggler UK disagrees with me and says
"Khan faced Maidana exactly when he was supposed to. There was no 3 fight or year delay. What are you on about?"
He also claims
"Khan faced Maidana when he was supposed to and the fight didn't go to purse bids either."
Did the fight go to purse bids?
Maidana Khan was some time ago but I am sure many of you who have been on the forum for some time will have a memory of the events to the build up to the fight. Evidence would even be better.
What is your take on the subject?

Come on now. Dont act ignorant. why was it going to go to a purse bid in the first place? because Maidana wrote a letter to the governing body begging them to make the fight. why did he have to right the begging letter? Because Khan tried to get out of the fight.
Once the threat of the purse bid happened only then did Khan decide to make the fight

FFS, the morons in this thread.
Dirk is correct
/thread.
That doesn't change the facts. Those are only lame ass irrelevant excuses.
Fact 1: Khan did nothing to deserve his title shot at 140 against Kotelnik. He had never fought at that weight, much less beat anyone of note. His title shot was gift wrapped for him by GBP and the WBA who were licking their chops at the sanctioning fees.
Fact 2: Maidana was WBA Champ before Khan. I suppose you will try to argue this fact even though it's based on historical events that were witnessed by millions.
Fact 3: Kotelnik-Khan went off with the WBA specifically saying the winner had to fight Marcos Maidana - the interim champion.
Fact 4: Nobody ever enforced a Salita mandatory. Khan begged off the Maidana fight which was the true mandatory against the interim champ and because he knew Salita was the easiest fight ever and a Jew he jumped at the chance for obvious reasons. To act like that fight took precedence over Khan-Maidana in anyone's eyes - including the WBA - is f*cking retarded.
Fact 5: Khan couldn't "just drop" the belt like you casually state. He would have f*cked over the sanctioning body that had made him a paper champ and cost his promoter money by not fighting a title bout on HBO as well.
Had Khan "just dropped" the first world title belt he ever had, and one that was basically gift wrapped for him, he would have been an even bigger laughingstock then than he currently is now.
1. So?
2. Maidana has never been WBA Junior Welterweight Champion. What the fuk are you talking about, Baldy? He lost to Kotelnik who was WBA Champion. Khan beat Kotelnik. When did Maidana become champion? Derp?
3. Wrong again, Slap Head. Dimitri Salita was paid step aside money so Khan could face Kotelnik. Once again Maidana LOST to Kotelnik in his mandatory shot. Salita was the next mandatory.
4. See point 3.
5. Khan could have easily dropped the belt and you were one of the morons who said he would! :lol1:

Khan took 1 fight against Paulie Malignaggi as a voluntary defence in May 2010. His next fight was in Decemeber 2010 against Maidana.
Champions are not obligated to fight 2 mandatories back-to-back. Khan already fought Salita who was the original mandatory.

isn't khan doing the same every week by saying something stupid like how he is gonna call out floyd in the press conference or how his hand speed will beat floyd and how he is so great?
I mean, marcos might loose (he had all the odds against him) but he is fighting the best, khan most probably is gonna get KTFO by collazo
Wishful thinking.
Maidana will get shutout and he will have a loss and no belt. Maybe then he can stop ducking Thurman.
Anyone who decides to box Maidana makes him look like a desperate bar brawler swinging for fences. Heck even a shot Erik Morales with "ONE" eye for 11 rounds made it competitive to a point there is an argument for a Draw lol.
Too bad after May 3rd the old excuse of "no robert garcia" to defend Maidana's losses wont be good enough anymore.
So? Guerrero is still in a legal wrangle with Golden Boy so he couldn't be put onto the May 3rd card. It's funny that you'll believe Guerrero who is just desperate to keep his name in the spotlight but you won't believe the head of Showtime. Shows how stupid you really are.
Don't worry. Maidana will probably start crying about retiring on May 4th just like he did after Devon Alexander beat him up :lol1:

Yeah sure , and the next week el ghost signs with haymon who only works with golden boy.
khan wants another tune up till floyd ....like his last two ..like his countrymate brook...in fact why dont these two fight in manchester for a big money and in front of 80 k and retire of boxing?

Stephen Espinsoa tweeted that Guererro-Khan was not possible because of Guerrero's legal issues with GBP.

1) "Tried to make the fight against amir khan but his team turned down the fight " that was guerrero said on his twitter.
I believe in guerrero much more than a guy who says spar with ward !!!
Stephen Espinsoa tweeted that Guererro-Khan was not possible because of Guerrero's legal issues with GBP.
1) Khan didn't duck Guerrero maybe you have a hard time reading my post, Guerrero has a LAW SUIT filed against GBP, Goldon Boy can't promote the fight.
2)You're not counting Julio Diaz (Who's a Ex champ and was coming of a draw against Porter) as a credible win for Khan yet you mentioned Soto Carass as a credible win for Maidana?
3)You can say that Khan ducked Alexander but the truth is he was told that he has a Mayweather fight in bag, you should blame his advisers, but lets give you that he should of fought him..
4)Old Judah? Yeah he was World Champ the time he faced Khan,Wasn't Erik very old time he faced Maidana? STILL Outboxed him?Maidana's best win is still Broner Imo
5) I have nothing against Maidana just his fans keep going on about Khan for some reason when they should concentrate on making a case for Maidana to let people think he can beat Floyd.
Best of luck come May3rd, although Maidana fans piss me off but I'll still be rooting for him to Knock Mayweather out.!

2) and You're not counting victor cayo (who beat the ATG julio diaz)..soto karass later beat berto
3)not fighting since april 13 because you think somehow you earn a fight against p4p in may 2014 ?????he could face alexander and maybe win but he was afraid to loose payday...the rest is history.
4)WTF??????before the khan fight judah had a biggest gift in his life against matthysse and fights with mabuza and some santa cruz ..top opocision
5) I do have something against khan , cause he demands rematch when he never gives one , cause he's a liar (tells maidana paid guerrero to fake an injury for example) , cause he talks bad of his colleagues and a lot of more things.
May 3 the things are where belong! MAIDANA THROWING BOMBS AND PRESSURE FROM ALL ANGLES AND KHAN FIGHTING BUMS IN THE UNDERCARD TRYING SOMEHOW TO EARN A SHOT AT MAYWEATHER
Kotelnik fight?Maidana clearly won that fight....and kotelnik retire in 2010
Alexander fight? First time at welter , bad trainning , bad trainer , bad fight and devon clinching all the time.
1 ) He duck alexander (afraid of lossing)
2) He duck guerrero (why)
3) old judah! old barrera!salita???????julio diaz??????
Lucky against ortiz? 2 knock downs yeah sure..what about soto karas?and josesito lopez?
Please dont expect to fight mayweather later for two reasons :
1 _ There's gonna be a rematch cause maidana is going to win
2_ dont tell me that a win against collazo earns a fight against floyd!!!!
Good luck against collazo may 3 :lol1::lol1:

Why would Khan drop the title? lol
You really do think he is something special. Only the big boys can afford to give up titles. Fighters like Khan will hold on to them for dear life because hes not guaranreed another one
Because Golden Boy was trying to make him a star in America and they were trying to match him up against Marquez and eventually Mayweather. Those fights wouldn't need a title. Khan was also supposed to fight Bradley who had two titles until Bradley backed out. He fought Judah for the IBF.
He did not need to hold onto the WBA title when there were others out there and much bigger fights. Most people were predicting that he would drop it including (S)Hitman932
If Khan wanted to get out of the fight, he would have just dropped the title. It's not like he needed it. Golden Boy wanted to match Khan with Marquez which would have been a bigger and better fight. He didn't need the WBA title or Maidana.
Many in this thread and I will put my house on you being one of them, predicted that Khan would drop the title. Hilarious really.

No point arguing with the trolls mate, Khan has a 10X better resume than Maidana IMO.
Why didn't Maidana revenge his loss against Kotelnik?
Why didn't Maidana revenge his loss (Oh I mean 10 rounds of Sparring, where he couldn't win a single round) against Alexander?
Khan beaten Maidana fair and square also knocked him down in round1 where Bell saved Maidana
Those who have been following Khan's career knows that he didn't duck a SINGLE fighter, he's fought everyone who's been giving to him and thats since his Olympic Medal win
1) Some idiots saying Khan ducked Alexander (Yes, but he's told that he has a Floyd fight in bad and Khan himself said later that he regret not taking the fight so thats *Technically not ducking*, Khan would've beat him anyway considering his style is tailor made for Khan
2) Some trolls or Khan haters say that Khan ducked Guerrero :lol1:, although they know that he has a lawsuit filed against GBP, go and look at some recent sweets from Stephen Showtime Promotor you tools that lawsuit is still on.
3) Prescott? Really? Khan wasn't given an immediate rematch against him, when he lost 2 in a row and Khan become World Champion he started calling Khan out when his stock wasn't on sale for peanuts,
4) Khan has beaten most technical Kotelnik, Fastest Malignaggi, Zab Judah, Peterson (Yes Khan beat that Cheater was robbed in that fight), Undefeated Salita, Maidana , Julio Diaz, Barerra etc. and now fighting Collazo all these names are/were World Champions at some point in their career whom has Maidana beat? Broner?lol :lol1: Got lucky against Ortiz thats his only 2 credible wins IMO.
5) Watch Maidana getting his arse whooped to like floor against Mayweather.

It never went to purse bids because they agreed a deal. Happens all the time.

All I remember was team Maidana was planning to take it to court if team Khan didn't agree to fight. There should of been a rematch but oh well thats how boxing works sometimes

This article basically outlines how Khan-Maidana was about to go to purse bid in January of 2010 for a fight in April or May.
You will see in there that Maidana was already the mandatory and that Roach was scared to fight Maidana at the time.
Obviously a deal was struck to back Maidana off as there was no reason for him not to pursue that fight at that moment.
Maidana was the Interim WBA champ before Khan eve won the WBA Title. The fight was supposed to happen immediately.
Khan finally ended up agreeing to fight Maidana after Maidana took 2 more fights, Khan got a couple easy fights, and the WBA point blank told Khan he was going to be stripped if he didn't fight the guy he was supposed to fight when he originally got the title shot.
Dirk is wrong as usual, but then again he's never interested in the facts when they make a British boxer look bad.
