I am one of the few fans who seems to think that Miguel has a chance of upsetting Sergio. CLEARLY id be a moron to think that Miguiel in any way shape or form is going to be the favorite going in bc he most def will not be. BUT, I think when you consider the fact that Sergio has not only been out for a long period of time but factor into that the injuries which made him take off that time you put him in their against a crafty boxer/puncher like Miguel and you have the makings for in my mind a 60/40 fight. So its not unfathomable that Cotto walks away with the W.
If that does happen ( and depending on Floyd beating Maidana which he does EASILY imo) does Floyd go up to 160 to try to take another belt in yet another weight class? I only ask this bc I feel Floyd wont fight Sergio or GGG but a guy he already beat and who's name is as big in boxing as Cotto's I don't see why you wouldn't do it. But I personally would say it was toughest fight for Floyd ( his own words "Miguel Cotto is toughest guy I ever fought" ) and this time around with a better game plan when Roach is in your corner Id say it gets even tougher for Floyd.
There's a better chance Alvarez gets that fight, but don't count Mayweather out.
LOL. Love the triangle theory!
Cotto hasn't beat a legitmate champ/contender in almost 7 years...with that said....let's not get ahead of ourselves....let's just focus Sergio.
*not saying Cotto wasn't a great fighter, but plaster and pac took too much out of him.
You are wrong in so many ways.
If the Manny fight could not have been made, everyone knew that that was the fight that would have been the fight that possessed both risk and glory for Floyd. If Floyd would have beat Martinez, title or no title, it would have earned him much much more than a title could ever do for Floyd AND YOU KNOW IT!!!
Secondly, Sergio moved up to get the fights. Even when he moved up, he was still able to do CWs. He is even doing one now. You even brought up 150. Well that would be questionable weight but not 154. For the very reason that if 150 was brought up, then Sergio would have made 154 relatively easy. We are not discussing a guy who fought at 160 forever.
Manny: Manny tried it once (150). During training camp he said this will be the first and last time. So we both know what's up with that ... you are just using it as an excuse to diffuse the real discussion.
Back to Floyd, like I already said, Floyd fought at 154 BEFORE and AFTER being called out.
naw its at 160
Really lmao both fighters duck sergio he said he would down for both fighters period
Only Floyd has fought at 154 before and after Sergio called him out. Sorry but that is a true duck. Saying that Manny is comparable, well, even Sergio admitted that you are pushing it when he said that Manny is just too small.
Fighting the middleweight champ at 154 would earn Floyd nothing,period...and Martinez also called out Manny at 150 so i guess manny avoided him to right? Floyd does not EVER have to fight anyone who fights at 160 if he does it is for legacy and a treat for the fans, nothing he has to do

I was atually thinking about this as soon as the fight got made. Floyd would definitely fight Cotto because even at middle weight i dont think cotto would weigh more than 165 against Floyd and that's what Canelo weighed so Floyd wouldn't have a problem. It doesn't matter how much Cotto weighs anyway because his frame is the same size as Floyd's so the more weight he puts on is only going to make him slower. But I doubt Arum is going to allow his middleweight's belts get into hands of Floyd. Cotto will prob get robbed if he wins.
So let me get this straight, if Cotto wins its only because Sergio was "shot" and not because he earned it? Thanks for that laugh.
Yes. That's almost certainly the case.
Obligated or not,
we both know that Floyd would not have fought a prime Sergio Martinez.
We also both know that not too long ago, Sergio was a 154lbs fighter who was ready to move up to 160 to make some money fights and called out Floyd to fight him at 154.
We also both know that Floyd took on 154 fighters BEFORE & AFTER being called out.
I know and you pretend not to know that Floyd was not willing to take that risk at 154 let alone 160!
Finally, you are pretty much agreeing with me that Floyd would go up to 160 to fight another cherry picking fight because the only way that Cotto beats Martinez is if Martinez is no longer Martinez!!!
Think about it for a second. You are making it to be an obvious choice for Floyd at 160. Why? You just finished saying that Cotto is 1-2 in his last 3 fights..... and why is it not as obvious when its a true risky opponent? Hmmmm ....

I think garcia made the most sense for a sept fight, but with the herrera performance, people are going to trash it.. Danny needs a big win to reclaim some of his shine, like a rematch with lucas or khan, or beating thurman or porter...
Khan is the wild card because he does bring the money, but can the dude get a solid win,,, khan is such a mystery at this point
thurman, porter, danny, khan will all be legit fights but not the same caliber of star as canelo, cotto, shane or oscar
None of those guys are paper-view-fighters, and Khan is arguably 1-3 in his last four fights (should have lost vs Diaz), Porter is unknown, Thurman needs to get a name on his resume, Danny's stock has gone way down following the Herrera fight.
I'm guessing they could sell a Canelo rematch by raising Canelo's stock back up (Angulo fight helped) and selling the fight by saying he was drained in the first fight and that now it will take place at 154.
If Cotto miraculously beats Martinez, they'll obviously jump at the possibility of making a Mayweather v. Cotto rematch or they might make a Canelo v. Cotto fight at 160 or a 155 catchweight.
A Khan/Garcia v. Mayweather fight sounds very lackluster but they might still do for Septermber, I honestly wouldn't be surprised.
Cotto is also 1-2 in his last 3 fights and has nothing to lose,He also avoided Martinez while he himself(Cotto) was on top and a champion..Floyd avoided no one as he is and never was obligated to fight the Middleweight champion

well if you say thurman and porter fights wont be big enough until 2015,then you say garcia and khan are next then wouldnt a porter or thurman fight be in sept 2015 anyway?
I think garcia made the most sense for a sept fight, but with the herrera performance, people are going to trash it.. Danny needs a big win to reclaim some of his shine, like a rematch with lucas or khan, or beating thurman or porter...

Cotto was willing to take the risk against the guy that Floyd avoided at 154 let alone 160. To make it clear, Cotto is taking on a true middleweight to get the title while Floyd would not if he takes on Cotto again.

Could easily see it happening. Will be a bit of a joke if it does though as the only way Cotto beats Sergio is if Sergio's totally shot. I'd hate to see anyone become the lineal middleweight champ by that route.
So let me get this straight, if Cotto wins its only because Sergio was "shot" and not because he earned it? Thanks for that laugh.
well if you say thurman and porter fights wont be big enough until 2015,then you say garcia and khan are next then wouldnt a porter or thurman fight be in sept 2015 anyway?
i dont think hes implying thurman or porter would ever be blockbuster fights, instead in a year it would be a maidana/danny level fight where they could still sell enough PPV. but no quite a mega event
If Cotto is a blown up welterweight then what is Floyd?
You know what he means.
Cotto was willing to take the risk against the guy that Floyd avoided at 154 let alone 160. To make it clear, Cotto is taking on a true middleweight to get the title while Floyd would not if he takes on Cotto again.
True those are the only true big blockbuster fights, and floyd is running out of true ppv caliber opponents,,, I think after maidana, its basically danny garcia, and also khan if he can get a solid win.. But after that thurman and porter are still about a year away from establishing their names, but wont be till 2015 till those guys are big enough names..
Always the possibiblty of a canelo rematch, since it did over 2 mil buys..well if you say thurman and porter fights wont be big enough until 2015,then you say garcia and khan are next then wouldnt a porter or thurman fight be in sept 2015 anyway?
