Let's say he gets through shumenov, then decides he wants to make more history, could he beat either of them and become WBC heavyweight champion?
Not gonna happen, and I don't think he could pull it off. If he beats Shumenov he'll fight Stevenson. He'd have the chance to retire as the undisputed light heavyweight champ. That's enough history.
hell no, dude is 50 yrs old
back in 06 there was talk of him fighting Maskaev
that's a HW title fight Hopkins coulda won
but at this point, no chance, even vs a subpar paper titlist
too much weight for Hopkins to carry or handle defensively

Not the Hopkins that fought Murat thats for sure! Hokins isn't a big light Heavy.. He walks around at 185 so hypothetically if he does fight them he'd be at a 80+ lb weight disadvantage.
I think either man beats Hopkins. He lost to Dawson. I think that was about two years ago and he is older and further over the hill. These two fighters are much better than Dawson and hit much harder than Dawson.
The Hopkins' "chopped liver" punch that folded DLH will be rendered useless against the sumo duo, Arreola and Stiverne. The thick padding of blubber that hangs over the torso will protect each brawler from body shots. The heavyweight titans would rain blows down upon elderly Hopkins, possibly fracturing the bones of his arms and wrists as he attempts to ward off the storm of sloppy shots.
I like both Arreola and Stiverne, and aren't all that fond of Hopkins.and I clearly feel I'm not being biased when I believe both of them would KO him.he may be able to go a few rounds with the lazier Stiverne, but Cris decks him round one,no question about it.
I don't rate these 2 heavyweight pretenders one bit, I give Hopkins a great chance of licking them both
Arreola is the pretender.
Stiverne is the TRUTH.
Interesting proposition. One could easily classify this as ridiculous but it is a plausible scenario.
Sure, Hopkins is more skilled than Arreola and perhaps craftier than Stiverne but these are BIG 250-ish pound heavyweights we are talking about here. One well placed shot would most probably put Hopkins to sleep immediately. I doubt he avoids getting hit for 12 rounds.
