according to posters here when a fighter loses, they were exposed,a hypejob or they are shot
Pretty much this. Between promoters who drop a fighter after a single loss and fans with zero long term memory, no wonder fighters are desperate to keep their 0 intact.
there have been countless examples in boxing history where a loss has enhanced a fighter's legacy.
A loss doesn't enhance a fighter's legacy directly. But it can enhance a fighter's legacy indirectly behind the scenes. The loss can show that fighter his weaknesses, and he can then fix those weaknesses. So now the fighter is even better than before.
A loss is a bad thing in itself, but it can be turned into a positive. Not many people do that though, not just in boxing, but in life.
to be fair, those guys have shown mental damage after their losses. donaire was behind on the cards vs vic darchinyan and mares is ducking jhonny and miura.
someone like broner can bounce back. he showed warrior heart in that fight and wanted a rematch.
Mares is not ducking Miura. He simply decided not to move up in weight. It was a wise decision, he would be too small at 130.
It does around here it seems. Just make a thread about Donaire or Mares and see how many answers you get.

it only ruins you if you got destroyed physically and can't recover
but that "unbeaten" crap is just NSB ish
nobody in the real world cares about a loss
if you're a Zab/Juarez/Clottey/Mayorga kinda guy, it's bad
but if you have a buncha big wins, losing doesn't hurt you much

LOL, what? Please start naming the countless times when a loss enhanced a fighters legacy.
floyd fans were the people who said floyd couldn't fight margarito because he lost to santos years before...if maidana was any danger to floyd and floyd didn't want to fight him they would be saying how maidana lost to devon alexander therefore floyd doesn't have to fight him. he can fight senchenko coming off a loss like he did judah instead because.....boxing!
Well the name of the game is still winning, so loses do matter how much depends on the loss. It is a set back and if you look at the arc of most guys careers once they start to catch loses, it tends to become a trend.
Still loses only ruin careers if the guy lets it ruin their career, boxing is a game of confidence and belief more than anything else, all the physical tools in the world will be wasted without those things. Once that confidence and belief are broken getting them back is not easy~ nothing the media or a fan says can do anything about that
No i said if you lose 2 fights in a row, hell no you do not deserve a mega title fight..damn right i said that
floyd vs maidana is for the wbc mega belt isn't it?
siri is not a pushover for anybody, he was coming on strong vs mikey.
do you think broner has no chance to be fighter of the decade now that he has a loss?
I never said a loss ruins a fighters career, but i also said if you are undefeated and fighting world class comp that is greatness...see the issue here is ya'll try to twist and flip sh1t, a loss is a b ad thing yes it is,but if you come back from that and win on a world class level then that is great..but who the hell wants to lose?
5 better body attackers??lmfao dude was the weakest champ at 126 period and was carrying a vacant belt he won after getting his ass kicked

Salido is not a great fighter, and won a vacant title after getting his ass kicked by Mikey,Arum thought he was the weakest link and tried to make a easy road for Lomo to win a title,it is a circus act and retarded he is 1-1 and i am far from impressed

You were the leader of that mantra though. "he has losses, he doesn't deserve a fight"

No, but it does significantly affect your drawing power, and therefore affects your income. Look at Pac's drawing power following his two recent loses. His PPVs have dropped dramatically. And where we as fans just want to see the fights we want, we also have to realize that to these boxers this is an occupation. And one that can leave you damaged for the rest of your life after your career is over. Therefore they have to make the best business decisions as well. Why do you think we haven't seen Mayweather vs Pac yet? Trust me neither of afraid of the fight, but as soon as that fight happens the drawing power of the losing fighter drops. So why not continue to earn money side by side until they have to fight.
pacquaio fought brandon rios, a guy coming off a loss who was only on hbo because they wanted to make anthony peterson look good.
lomachenko is still a big draw.
progessively tougher fights. fighting bums over and over and you'll develop bad habits, examples are endless - audley harrison.
