There's still a ton of fighters out there that have to earn their stripes the hard way.
For every 1 coddled promoter protected fighter there is probably 100 fighters out there paying their dues.
Recent fighters:
Marcos Maidana
Lucas Matthysse
Chris Arreola
Paul Williams
Sergio Martinez
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr
Nonito Donaire
Guillermo Rigondeaux
Erislandy Lara
Austin Trout
Miguel Cotto
Richard Abril
Glen Johnson
Carl fROCH
list goes on and on. the problem is we the fans constantly get the coddled fighters shoved in our face since they bring in the most money.
Fighters who ducked no one:
Sugar Ray Robinson
Rocky Marciano
Joe Louis
Oscar Delahoya
Evander Holyfield
Mike Tyson
That's a just a handful off the top of my head. Honorable mention goes to:
Lennox Lewis and Muhammad Ali. They fought everyone, but their refusal to rematch fighters the public wanted them to rematch tarnishes some of their credibility in this area. Still great fighters, though, who have my full respect.
I mean, who can blame either of them for wanting no part of rematches that they both would have probably lost.
Ali stood no chance against Foreman in a fight here in the states, and Lewis was near retirement and no longer his once great self.
You listed a shot to sh1t Mayorga as someone we wanted to see Cotto fight? He could have fought Sergio instead of that.
Yeah, I did. Past prime or not Mayorga was still a big name with a solid record who could bang and was seen as a threat. Go back a few years and dig up the threads if you don't believe me.
People were were also picking Quintana to school Cotto overwhelmingly. Mosley, too.
Muhammad Ali fought Frazier, Foreman, Patterson, Liston, Ken Norton, Bob Foster. Yea he fought everyone.
He refused to rematch Foreman, however, despite great public demand and numerous promoters that tried to make the fight.
To his credit, he fought him, much like Lewis fought Klitschko. But neither Ali or Lewis wanted to rematch those physically imposing fighters, as both feared the outcomes of such fights.
Presently? Miguel Cotto immediately springs to mind.
Say what you want about his career but that dude fought anybody and everybody we ever wanted him to fight and then some - Margarito, Torres, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Clottey, Trout, Judah, Mayorga, Mosley, Quintana, Malignaggi, Corley, and now Martinez.
We need more guys like that.

I agree with you. Current fighters I would say that Cotto and Froch are the only one. I would also add glen johnson with these two.

stfu already, k? :luvbed:
froch said in presser for groves fight that "andre ward will probably retire undefeated" . froch obviously had no intention in re-matching ward.
So when did he duck Ward? Still waiting for an answer. Like an actual timeframe when the fight could have happened.
Past and present.
Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns, Muhammad Ali hell Ali even fought a wrestler, But no Floyodits your hero is the best Ducker fight them small, old, shop worn, weight drained and green
no. he couldnt beat Ward if there were 13, 14, 15, 20, or infinity rounds
You maybe right. Ward is an exceptional talent. But you have to admit ... he can't finish fights.
Why would he rematch Ward? He cant beat Ward. Just like he can't beat Dirrell.
But thats only because there's only 12 rounds. Ward and Dirrell are superior boxers, but not superior fighters. Froch never lost. He just ran out of time.

DLH, dude was the cash cow and faced everybody, he gets a pass for the margs situation, after facing everybody. its not like margs deserved it after what he did anyway.
