@AJJohnstone87: @MikkelKessler im curious to know, having fought both. In your opinion who was the greater of the 2 @RealJoeCalzaghe or @andreward ?
@MikkelKessler: @AJJohnstone87 @RealJoeCalzaghe @andreward @RealJoeCalzaghe without a doubt...
Happy birthday Joe!
Kessler gives opinion on two fighters he fought and nsb gets salty because they don't agree.Ward for me is the better fighter and there are plenty of fights left for him to build an even better resume
Calzaghes best career wins were as follows.
1. Kessler
2. Prime Robin Reid ( many had Reid winning this fight )
3. A Vastly overated Lacy
4. 70 year old Eubank
5. 75 year old BHOP
No other fights with elite fighters, mainly complete bums who should never have been given the right to a World title fight
Froch fan dissects Calzaghe's resume. :lol1:
Name me one win from Joe that is better than Ward's win against Froch.
Thanks
What about Joes Magnificent display againsed the formidable Evans Ashira.
Or the Lesson he gave ATG Manfreeeeedo Jnr

It took Calzaghe 10 years to unify and become lineal champ.
Andre Ward did it within 3 years after winning his first belt.
Longevity is a brilliant career achievement when you've constantly fought top opposition, like Hopkins for such a long period. Staying at home beating bums does not count as longevity. It's a shame because Calzaghe could have moved up to LHW and mixed it with the likes of Hopkins, Tarver, Johnson, Jones Jr much earlier.
He wasn't interested.
Had Calzaghe moved up earlier, he'd have missed out on his career defining fights ie Lacy and Kessler.

I agree with most of the post but a win over Kessler, who Joe beat when he was better, an overrated Abraham and weight drained Dawson who got knocked out in his next fight does not eclipse Joe's whole career including the Hopkins triumph. No way. Sorry.

biases aside, calzaghe really is the greter fighter. ward's not yet retired though so he could still do something to surpass calzaghe. ward has the potential, it all depends on what course he will take for his career from hereon. seems like he's stucked though right now with not much activity and just waiting for fights against chavez jr or golovkin smh.
This in a nutshell. ATM, Calzaghe has a wide resume gap over Ward based on longevity.
wait a minute..........are you actually trying to argue that calzaghes resume is greater then wards?

Yeah because Hopkins didn't continue to do amazing stuff.

hopkins? many people felt that cal lost that fight. & even if you didn't feel he lost it no way was it a clear win. (& jermain taylor had done the same exact thing 4 years pryor) being rewarded a controversial decision over a older b hop is nothing special.....(it's not a great win) if you shut out, hurt, & clearly defeat that version of hopkins then thats a very good win. but that wasn't the circumstances at all..........
Joe's best wins came against 2 fighters in the twilight of their careers. Cal is very overrated imo based on resume but his skill set, awkwardness and speed would allow him to compete against nearly anyone prime for prime. With that being said, Ward resume trumps Cal's already.

Ward has had 2 fights since 2011 and I see you left a few more credible wins that Joe had during that span. I added in Pudwill to Ward's stellar resume since you wanted to add his brother or cousin (whichever one he is) in to discredit Joe's resume.
Calzaghe had already defended his WBO title 12 times by the time he was 30. Ward has only defended his WBA title a whopping 6 times up until today.
Ward isn't as great as people want to believe he is, 2 of his best wins came against guys that Joe already beat up.

He's two behind Mayweather so i dont get your point.
At this point he proved way more than Rigondeaux in the pros. I really dont see how anybody can put Rigondeaux ahead of Ward. You're aware that Ward won a championship involving the best fighters of his category and dominated them all right ?!
i am aware, but the bottom line is his best win is carl froch. i dont see anything fantastic about his resume. then you look at their skillset and if anybody thinks ward has a better skillset than rigondeaux then you have to wonder what the hell they are smoking!
also, donaire was p4p number 5 apparently when rigondeaux schooled him in just his 12th pro fight. i dont see any p4p fighters on wards resume.

He didn't dominate Bika and he cheated against Kessler, giving him full credit for the Kessler win, as you do, shows your biased. Blinded by the red, blue and white?
Maybe, but that didnt hinder him throwing his shots. Kess was not holding back at all. He was better in that fight and history should reflect that way. He was not himself for the Ward fight. I give Ward credit, but no way was he as good as Joe IMHO.
Agreed.
I'd Pick Calzaghe over Ward as well.
