these contemporary "title belts" only cover a portion of the history of the sport. they often have very little value in a historic context.
a champion in 2014 and a champion in 1934 are not the same thing.
Yes its not the same thing because today boxing is more of a global sport with challengers coming from all over and on consistent basis.
Also with that logic we should then disregard the NBA title winning celtics from 61 cuz there were only 8 teams and players were not as well rounded/skilled.

You have a title = you are a world champ. Period.
There's no discussion beyond that.
Undisputed and lineal champs are a different story.

there will never be another 8 division world champ and thats historical whichever way you wanna cut it slice and dice it its irrefutable and will go down in the history books he will be talked about by the next generations teddy atlas
A world champ is anyone who holds a title belt. It's not rocket science dude.

Depends on your definition of "world champion." If it's the proper definition, the answer is no; Malignaggi wouldn't even qualify for this thread.

I still can't believe mundine got blasted like that.. I was always suspicious of that fight.. Mundine seemed to not move at all,,, smells kinda like a dive
Nah, he got caught with a temple shot. That happens. That punch was about three times harder and twice as clean as the one Malik Scott got hit with.
Amazing what he's achieved given the total lack of power.
Indeed, thats why Hatton was able to stop him. At that time, you had to have some pop to make Hatton respect you. If you didn't he would run right over you. Paulie amazed me in the Broner fight. I called it a draw and it was incredible how he was in that fight with the sick power disparity.
If this guy ever became a world champion he'd be making many laugh for days!

Carlos Molina and Ricky Burns are fairly featherfisted based on KO ratio?
Still hard to believe :lol1:

Juan Diaz isn't feather fisted, and doesn't belong anywhere near this thread. He's not a huge puncher, but he definitely earns his opponents respect and he has a good amount of KDs and KOs under his belt. Ivan Calderon had zero power, and won with only skill. Paulie Malignaggi and Carlos Molina fit the description of feather fisted fighters of today.
