Ducks
Yes, he ducked a prime Cotto "because he lives in Puerto Rico."
He ducked a prime Margarito (who could have been cheating) "because we not fighting to see who the best is."
Possible duck of Paul Williams.
And the infamous duck of a prime and just past-his-prime Manny Pacquaio who would have been the only ATG on his resume but ATGs are few and far between in boxing.
Resume
But he still has one of the best resumes of this era and of any fighter in history past the age of 30.
Here are his wins over (future) Hall of Fame fighters:
In their prime: Diego corrales, ricky hatton, jose luis castillo, judah (borderline HOF), marquez.
Past their prime: genaro hernandez, de la hoya, cotto, gatti
You'd be hard-pressed to find many fighters that have that many wins over Hall of Fame fighters.
SHane was the worst. Manny was disgraceful as well.
In ODH's case, I can understand because he was the man and 2 weight classes above floyd-that would've been a stupid risk. Cotto-I can understand as well. Why risk getting embarrassed and lose fans.
You believe all that? You think all fighters think like Floyd and his fans?
Cotto fought Margarito, Mosley, Manny, Floyd, Martinez, Clottey. Lost some, won some but now you say that that same Cotto didn't want to risk losing and being embarrassed? Like I said, you must be thinking of Floyd when he is asked to fight someone like Manny or Sergio Martinez NOT Cotto who has done that and more!!!
WOW, you Floyd fans have some kind of courage to talk like that! Just crazy!
You are trying to hard. Cotto, just like shane, odh and Manny, all decided not to fight Floyd when they were prime. They all figured it was better to beat lesser fighters than risk losing. WHen ODH was on his way out, he decided to fight floyd. When SHane was broke , he decided to fight floyd. WHen Miguel needed to resurrect his career, he decided to fight floyd. When manny had tax problems, he decided to take PED testing and then he refused the no ppv offer. of course he refused the fight and to take these same tests when he was prime
Lucky for the rest of us and sadly for fringe, tea party manny fans like you, all of the things above are documented.
Like I said in another post, when you write that stuff, are you believing what you type?
Cotto vs Floyd should have happened circa 2007/2008. Floyd fought Hatton instead and then retired. So how in your head can you say that it was Cotto that didn't want it? Just crazy!
About Mosley and Oscar, Floyd fans either say that they were too big and in different weight divisions or that Floyd called them out and they didn't want to fight Floyd. Well, which one is it? Don't forget, Floyd called out Manny and we all know how that turned out.
Finally, about Manny. You realize what you are saying? Floyd is admitting that Manny wants to fight Floyd now but Floyd thinks Manny is desperate and YOU ARE AGREEING to this, right? Well, WHO CARES about whether Manny needs money or not, we just want to see the fight, right? What does making the fight have to do with all that? NOTHING! ZIPPO! NADA!!! It's just Floyd putting out another dumb roadblock and his fans gobbling it all up.
SHane was the worst. Manny was disgraceful as well.

Yeah Shane and Manny were definitely the worst offenders in that one. Cotto was PR's next son so no way was Bob going to risk him that early (Juanma/Gamboa is a more recent example of his shenanigans)
Quality post here. :boxing:
It's a shame too, because all of the fighters you listed were "Yes men" for their promotions. Besides Oscar who had to break away from Arum.
Cotto = too green
Pacquiao = too nice and floyd will say bad things, I'll sue instead.
Mosley = Oscar gets to fight Floyd first
SHane was the worst. Manny was disgraceful as well.

2005 Cotto was on the green side. So you know that Floyd likes them when they are still on the green side but has some potential to generate revenue (ala Canelo)
Don't even bring up the money thing. Floyd knows how to get out of fights by doing things like that. Did it with Manny and same for back then. Remember last year we agreed with Floyd by saying, "Canelo win your fight then talk about your possibility to fight Floyd, not before then".
Well, with that kind of money that Floyd wanted it was risky for Arum as Floyd wasn't today's "money" Mayweather. If he lost against Margarito then Arum would be stuck paying Floyd no matter. So Floyd could have either come down money wise or take on Margarito. Beat him then ask for the big bucks.
Arum had Margarito waiting all of 2006 for Floyd but Floyd didn't want to fight Margarito and took on Baldomir.
Finally, around second half of 2007/2008 Floyd was quoted saying something like "I know what Cotto is trying to do. No way is he getting me to fight him"
It was an article from here, Boxingscene.

He never ducked a prime Cotto,a prime Cotto never even wanted it with Floyd when Floyd called him out back in 2005.Cotto said it himself in a ESPN interview that he never pushed for a fight with Floyd. When Floyd called him out back in 2005,Arum said Cotto wasn`t ready. Then a year later Floyd asked Arum for 10 million dollars to fight Cotto and Arum turned it down and was only willing to offer Floyd 7 million. And FLoyd was past his prime when he fought Cotto also. And i don`t believe Cotto is past his prime at all,he just doesn`t look good against top quality opposition. He looked like his "old self" in the Edwin Rodriguez fight because Edwin is a low quality opponent.

Because hes too calculated and methodical with his picking of opponents. He is fighting a guy who lost to Pacs sparring partner, whilst Pac fights Bradley, Floyds future superfight.
He lets Miguel Cotto fight Sergio when all this time people wondered when he was going to. Never takes risks. Drains Canelo, yet SSM didn't even feel the need to do that at his advanced age.
Too much about the zero and not trying to show how good he can be.
Canelo looked every bit as slow in the Angulo fight then he did in the Floyd fight,i did not see any difference. And how about all the cherry picking Pac has done with his avoidance of Sergio Martinez when he was 154 pound champ, avoidance of Zahir Raheem,Avoidance of Floyd back in 2010 when Floyd offered him 50%,avoidance of Nate Campbell. And how about Gaylovkin cherry picking fighters.
Martinez said he was willing to fight Floyd at 150,Floyd said oK,but yet Martinez didn't even give Floyd a call. And Mosley has never fought in 5 weight classes like Floyd and Mosley was not a small middleweight.Canelo is a humongous middleweight who should be fighting at middleweight. The guy came in at 174 for his last fight.
I enjoyed making you look stupid.

Except Floyd was suppose to fight Oscar that fall and Floyd already bought himself out because he thought that was going to happen then.
So then Oscar decided to not fight until Spring, leaving Floyd holding his dick in his hands after buying out his contract. Floyd did try to pursue Mosley also, but that was the tooth-ache excuse although that had more to do with Oscar already lining that fight up.
So then Floyd could have either fight Baldomir in a one off biding his time, or he could have went crawling back to Arum and to get the money for the Margarito fight he would have to sign long term (remember the issue about what he would get paid for Hatton and Cotto, it wasn't a one fight deal~) thus killing his chance to get Oscar.
You don't even bother to revise history you just straight up only tell part of the story and act like that is the truth
Cotto left Arum then came back. Floyd said that he is his own boss, right? Well, he could have taken that one fight with Margarito , right? Don't tell me that Cotto can but not Floyd, who is his own boss?
Arum had Margarito hanging and waiting for Floyd to take the fight.
If Floyd wanted that fight it was there but he preferred to fight Baldomir. Again, it's not like Margarito wasn't available.
floyd fans revising history. floyd fought hoya instead of margarito....um no. he fought baldomir after paying top rank 725k in order to avoid his last fight. fight a popular mexican on ppv for 8 million or fight an unknown for 7.25 million? floyd less money mayweather.

Would you honestly work with a previous employer, that you had to sue in court for stealing your earnings ?????
Come on son ... Be real here!!!!
So why was he willing to work with him on the Pacquiao fight at first?
"If you da best, take da test" :lol1:
Resumes do count. It's one of the reasons why the Klitshchkos don't get the respect their fans think they should get. Re fighting more people - styles make fights and upsets happen.
If the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl III decided not to take on the Jets as a result of contract negotiations we all *know* that Green Bay would have won. But that's not what happened.
The fact that Mayweather didn't clean out his division counts against him in all-time rankings.
Resumes count, but your not going to sit and try to explain that he didnt dominate enough top tier opponents in shockingly onesided fashion enough to be the most skilled fighter in history. No fighter in history could take Floyd's resume, his power, and dominate them all without being grazed. It will never happen. He is probably the best ever based on skills alone, but no one wants to admit that.

This post basically sums it up. It isn't the actual ducks, but the way he carried out avoiding the fighters. He was blatant about it. At least teams like Pacquiao's and Canelo's do a good job of 'trying' to justify their decisions.
