Lucas vs Keith - Is GBP trying to cash in on Matthysse?

They honestly have two potential cash cows. They both have KO power, a fan friendly style, and good personality. If I were GBP, I would put them in with other opposition to make them look good. I'd rebuild Matthysse and give Thurman a legitimate title shot.

This would be a great fight to watch, the problem is I like both fighters & it would really suck to have to see one of them lose. They would both have a lot to lose. If Matthysse loses than that's 2 big losses in a row, and who knows where he goes from there. And if Thurman loses than his 0 is taken away to a fighter who's never fought at 147 & a lot of his luster is gone. this is why I think this is just a rumor and fight won't end up happening it's just un-promoter like

The only legit Lucas loss was against Danny -- and even that one came after a bad eye injury (orbital bone broken)... Lucas image is not "tainted"... A loss = tainted, even if it came through controversial means. It's not a positive, it's a negative.

If this fight happens, then yes they are cashing out lucas,,, They should have him fight a bum in a tuneup and then bring him back quickly vs the likes of cano or josieto lopez,, then look for danny or peterson rematch for a belt in fall... 'The Machine' is already a tainted image. And he's took losses from Judah and Alexander before, and still overcame that. So I don't believe a loss to Thurman would hurt his image anymore than it's already been hurt before. If this is true and ends up happening, it would be Lucas' first fight at 147 against a guy who's fought at 154 recently For fans this is a great fight, but for Lucas career going forward, how can you argue that this is a good move for him? Who's advising Lucas to take this fight, is it still Mario Arano? This is a terrible move for Matthysse, I've always thought he's too small for 147 and would need to be matched properly to move up to that weight, at least for his first couple fights Keith Thurman is considered by most on this forum to be one of the best fighters at 147/154, and would be fighting a guy who's noticably smaller than himself IMO this is a cash-in move on GBP's part. You don't think 2 BACK TO BACK losses would hurt Lucas?? That image the "Machine" would never be the truth again. 'The Machine' is already a tainted image. I don't know now, Lucas is 5'9 and Thurman is 5'7-1/2 so its not like he is massively bigger even if Lucas is taller. If Lucas did go upto 147 it maybe a good thing, Maidana made noise at 147 and he is around 5'9 and didn't look huge at 140. lucas is like 5'6" i think wtf you talking about garcia is 5'9" and was much taller

this is B.S. man thurman is way too big and destroys lucas... if this is true **** GBP. Give the guy an easier fight fpr his first fight in a new weight class, coming off a long lay off and a loss

I can't say I dislike the match-up, but I don't understand the logic behind it. This is a match-up that both guys cannot afford to lose, more-so Thurman because he's fighting someone coming up in weight and his WW spot will be up for grabs. This would quickly put Matts in a relevant position, but if he loses, he'll be put on the backburner.

Cash in what? lol Matthysse isn't even a money guy. Cashing in a guy would be putting Khan in with Thurman. Matthysse is still a top guy regardless if he loses to Thurman. I agree. I don't think a loss will hurt either of them.

Like Lucas but wasn't on the hype train like allot around here but at this point is a bad career move ans for the meantime I'd avoid Thurman. He's a better overall boxer with power and the hunger is what will let him keep winning. There's many that have dodged ONE TIME and once he's gets a household name under his belt is expect more to dodge him. I honestly want him for Mayweathers last fight. Keith has potential.
