prince naseem was one of the most talented boxers, but retired at an early age. With his accomplishments is he worthy of a hof spot.
I know boxing:boxing:
funny. in that video they say Barrera is a reluctant challenger who deserves a break after his wars with Morales, yet he is the next in line?? And I would like to know the stipulations for JMM fight. Bottom line: JMM is a HOF for sure...Barrera, not so much.
If Tyson gets in so does Naz.
You're comparing the two??
If I had the power to vote I would vote for him.
Boxing = entertainment and Hamed is by far one of the most entertaining, charismatic, awe inspiring boxers - no athletes - no public figures of any sort - ever, of all time. He gets overwhelming consideration by me for that. He was off the scale. He was also one of the most physically gifted athlete-fighters, ever, and one of the hardest punchers P4P, ever. If I was basing my opinion on just his record I wouldn't consider him. Can't do that though. Not with this guy.
Yup, and it's the Hall of Fame. He's one of the better known names in the sport of Boxing.
I wouldn't include him, but considering the likes of Barry Mcguiggen are in there, most certainly yes.
No longer should Bazza serve as the punching bag for the IBHOF critics now Arturo Gatti is a member.
Barrera humiliate him? It was a very close fight, no white wash. Naz was nowhere near his best either.
Not a close fight but it's one of the more overblown performances/fights of recent memory. Barrera decisively outboxed and outpointed Hamed and that's about it. To credit him with more than that suggests either a tad of revisionism or not actually having seen the fight in it's entirety.
I mean who is the best fighter naz beat?
What's the sense in referencing a bunch of boxers that fought in an era beyond the last four or five years that you've been watching?
he avoided JMMarquez like the plague.
he never recovered from his first loss
What actually happened - as confirmed by Marquez and his manager at the time - was Marquez was offered a fight with Naseem Hamed, presented with a career high purse and still turned it down and fought some irrelevant bum for substantially less money and around the same time period.
Barrera won the fight against Naz but it wasn't a shut out like some people claim. Plus Nas was pretty shot by then.
he was shot or maybe there's a difference between fighting bums and barrera.
If we're talking about him getting in with the current state of the HOF and what it's standards actually are....then he ABSOLUTELY should be in, it's a crime he's not.
Absolutely not....he was fighting bums, until Barrera exposed him
He fought everyone. Including all the other champions. Without doubt he was the undisputed Feather weight champion for 6 years.
I don't think so. But there have been lesser fighters let in so I wouldn't protest it but when the Prince finally stepped up, Barrera humiliated him and then he was through.
If Naz wasn't so vocal about his religion in america no doubt he would be in the HOF, just look at Barry Mcguigan FFS how does he get inducted and the Prince doesn't? Load of Bollocks
Hell yes, he's worthy. It's a joke that he's not already in there. He won almost every belt at FW, numerous title defences, lineal champ, and only the WBA strap was denied him on a technicality even though he beat their champ. He's a legend.
And not only that... and most importantly, he did it all in such style.
Barrera wasn't ahead of Hamed P4P. Hamed was P4P top 10 Barrera wasn't. Stepping up is fighting someone rated higher. How can the Champion step up he's at the top?
Not always the case as belts at the p4p level dont equate to greatness unless you are new to watching boxing and i mean that respectfully.
Mayweather also took Ortiz's WBC 147 title so who was the one stepping up between the two as Mayweather was p4p#1 without a belt and Ortiz just a young champ with a strap? Ortiz had a belt but he wasnt rated higher in his own division even with a belt.
I cant confirm who was ahead on p4p list, but looking at the opposition its clear Barrera was more elite, but hamed the bigger star which overshadowed Barrera, but as far as your point how can a champion be stepping up is not true in pro boxing with my examples to prove it.
