I keep reading about "Pakistan and Dubai" money.
Fact of the matter is Khan has had numerous high profile fights and these regions never generate jack squat for anyone. Khan has claimed numerous times he has capable of making huge financial offers to bring both Mayweather and Alexander to Dubai none of which ever resulted in so much as a real offer.
The average Pakistani doesn't even have a television set with cable. Running water? Electricity? Only 57% of Pakistani's can read and write.
This is the fanbase that's going to make the fight a financial success?
Let's not forget that it's going to be early in the morning on Sunday when this fight airs in Dubai and Pakistan. They don't even have to pay a primetime fee to acquire the rights.
Certainly they won't be spending two months wages to watch a silver spoon c*nt get knocked out in 4 rounds.
Please don't even mention Khan's UK popularity which is a giant myth. Heres two facts about that.
1) Khan is nowhere near as popular as Ricky Hatton
2) Floyd's guarantee is significantly more than it was for the Hatton fight.
Those facts only exacerbate the fact that this fight with be a financial disaster for Showtime if it happens.
If Mayweather himself is the one selling the PPV's in the UK then it doesn't matter if Khan is the opponent or not.
Mayweather fans will watch Mayweather fights - that just makes Maidana all the more attractive now that you're finally admitting that British fans would mostly be watching to see the American champ.
Pick Maidana you get all the UK Mayweather fans - plus the Mexican fans who wouldn't pay a nickel to watch Amir Khan prance around the ring like Boy George.
It matters if its Khan because people in the UK know who Khan is. Even if he doesn't have a huge amount of fans here anymore he has a well known name (top 2 or 3 boxers in terms of fame here). I guarantee a PPV for 'Mayweather vs khan' will sell well here. Casuals will get involved.
Unlike Maidana, who is only known marginally for getting beat by Khan.
I think the problem with the Khan fight is that Showtime couldn't give two effs about UK money. They pay a shed load of money to FM for his fights and their subscribers will be clamouring for Maidana after he beat Broner.
Not sure how and where Dubai gets thrown around with khan, at the end of the day Pacquaio came from a country that wasn't really associated with PPV sales and that doesn't mean be doesn't bring backers from that country, I think Khan appeal can go as far as his parents country (Pakistan) especially when the opponent he is facing is a mega star like Mayweather. Yes the same people wouldn't care if he was fighting joe blogg but that's where the Mayweather name comes in.
IIRC where Khan's family is from in Pakistan is close to the border with India. In that area people live quite integrated lives and often cheer for cricketers and other athletes from the region regardless of religious affiliation.
I'm from the UK and voted for Khan to watch him get beat. Told him so on Twitter last night, as did many others, when he thanked us for voting for him. He seemed to be implying it was just a matter of time before the fight was announced.
Unbelievably racism and ignorance in this thread, that too from forum members who are obviously latino too. No wonder Republicans pen Latinos as 'stupid' (read a study they publishedabout it).
Khan is a Brit..not a Pakistani, he has spent his entire life from his mother's womb to death in Bolton. It's actually quite admirable what is foundation has done in a third world country. I'd like to see some of our Chicano or PR fighters do the same 'back home.'
As far as Dubai, if one of you is in finance, it is one of the most liquid capital rich regions in the world
I don't recall ever hearing the phrase ''Pakistani money'' in the history of the world let alone on a boxing forum :lol1:
This retard is still crying over his $500 he lost when he bet on Maidana to KO Khan.
You know what you are Hitman932, a racist scumbag. The worst of the worst.
You've been getting away with blatant racism on here for years, and you most certainly will continue to do so.
I absolutely agree with anyone who would say that Khan does not deserve this fight, but if there's one thing that would make me happy if he was to get it, it would the pure and utter hatred that would burn deep in your racist loins if he was to be announced as Floyd's next opponent.
You don't understand how the UK TV media machine works, if a UK fighter is fighting a big name from abroad that is when the PPVs get pushed. Mayweather himself is on sky sports or boxnation here every time he fights and he doesn't do great. If he were to fight even Kell Brook (who not many people know atm) that would explode because advertising for that fight would be everywhere.
That's because Boxnation is a small ass station. The average person on the street has NEVER heard of Boxnation, Sky on the other hand EVERYONE knows and is familiar with. Sky advertise the **** out of these fights on their stations when the fight is on Sky (anyone remember Floyd vs Hatton?) Boxnation haven't got anywhere to advertise other than their small station. You also can't just buy ONE fight you have to subscribe to their channel monthly. It is cheap to be fair but their commentary and production is pretty poor.

How are Dubai and Pakistan linked in this fight?
The top 10% in Dubai are ridiculous wealthy, Khan will rely on the UK money (he might not be as popular as Hatton but just as many people know who Khan is and they will watch him fight Floyd Mayweather.)
When Haye fought Valuev almost no one knew who he was when he was a cruiser, it was the advertising machine that is sky sports that sold almost 1 Million Uk PPVS for Haye-Valuev. People don't understand how TV is different in the UK. If you want to watch most of the sports you need to get Sky Sports it has almost everything. Khan v Mayweather would get pushed ridiculously hard on sky sports.
Sky Sports/Sky is HUGE in the UK, it would be like if HBO had 60% of the NFL/NBA games in a season and also showed boxing/movies and Sky Sports tend to pick up the big American shows exclusively like Game of Thrones etc.

You're clueless.
I wouldn't say hatton is that much more popular than khan the difference is people grew to love Ricky whereas a lot of people hate khan but still everyone knows who khan is.
Khan doesn't have to be as popular as Hatton in the UK. The fight will sell here. Mayweather himself will sell a lot of PPVs here due to his popularity from after the Hatton fight.
Who the hell ever mentioned "Pakistani money" as being a huge contributing factor to this fight? LOL....or was this just another of your thinly veiled racist rants?

Watcha talkin about man Khan vs Mayweather is already anticipated to smash the previous national Pakistani PPV record of three people.
LMAO. Couldn't hit you with the green again yet.
Khan is always making statements that are pure BS. He said he took Ward's hardest punches in sparring. His trainer said he never sparred with Ward but he sparred with a middleweight that often sparred with Ward. Hard sparring is a very personal type of thing. You don't trade heavy leather with a guy and quickly forget his name. Khan knew damn well he never sparred with Ward but he thought he could lie and impress the fans and get away with it. Too bad Hunter ratted him out.
They can't pay for Khan, they need to fuel up their Mercedes.

Off the freakin hook!!!:headbang:
Yeh but like Indians they live in millions abroad and ofcourse earn in those currencies. For example over 1 million ppl in UK alone. Plus White Brits get behind Khan too ive ran in to plenty here in Canada. Sure there are some that dont but since its Mayweather the closest thing they can cheer for is Khan and the ones that dont will still buy it in hopes of seeing him get KOed

Sensationalist thread much. As Dirk said, who even uttered the words Pakistani money?
Pointless thread OP you don't have to argue Hatton is more known that Khan, kind of obvious really.
