I've seen many naive, probably new, boxing fans talking about a Mayweather vs Maidana fight because, in their naivety, they believe deep down that Mayweather and Broner are somehow the same fighter and that Maidana could compete with Mayweather in the same fashion he did with the vastly inferior Broner. I've seen people talking about this on the site and it's shocking to see how naive and uninformed the average fan really is.
For the educated fans, the question we need to ask is if Mayweather is actually using these naive fans to get out of the Khan fight because he's well aware that Khan presents a much more difficult challenge than Maidana ever could. Is Mayweather using naive, uneducated fans to escape the stylistic threat that Khan represents for him?
FMJr had a kind of poll on his FB page -- I see that it gathered about 100,000 comments... But Jr wasn't able to process all the posts.
Then he got it allover again on a e-polling platform (lockerdome).
But I can't see the partial results... Does anybody see them?
Now I see the poll results...

Floyd should have let us decide who he fights but with other boxers on the list rather than Khan and Maidana.
But Floyd is ducking khan and his excuse for fighting Maidana is cos he beat Broner. That's like saying Floyd should fight Broner cos Broner beat malignaggi.
Yet Khan beat them all. Just fight khan will ya Floyd and stop messing about.
^^^^
This!!!!
Khan just hasn't EARNED a WW Championship fight .... PERIOD!!!!
Hell, he has yet to even face a WW .... :pat:
Meanwhile, Maidana has fought and beat four WW's in a row and is a Champion.
Easy choice if Lara\Pac\Thurman\Porter aren't being considered.
Maidana has earned the fight and he deserves the fight!
Unfortunately your correct about the merits of the fight. But its not Floyd its Bronner who is being an azz. Bronner has to get KOed again before Madianna gets his opportunity.
And everyone with any boxing sense knows that unless Floyd gets old in a day Madianna will get creamed! Kahn has a chance because of his attributes and style. People always talk about his chin but its really a non factor against Floyd. The last time Floyd did some serious damage with a punch was against Hatton. Ortiz was an absurdity, more for WWF than boxing.
The funny thing is that in this fight Kahn's stupidity may work to his advantage. While most guys are smart enough to back off when they see Floyd start to counter....Kahn will stupidly rush in and fight. I think his speed and reach may at that point actually bother Floyd.
Floyd only wants to mix it up with guys he can catch with his timing. Styles make fights and Floyd is orthodox. Against a guy with superior speed he runs into a few mishaps now and then, like Mosley's punch and Judah's near knock down.
I'll bump this when mayweather knocks khan out .
Yeah because Maidana's power punching through 3 rounds couldn't. So Floyd, who hasn't been close to knocking anyone out legitimately in so many years, easily KO's Khan. Makes no sense to me.
I thought about this before this post, but basically I don't think Floyd sees either Khan or Maidana as big threats. At least I don't think he sees Khan as a big threat as some smart posters on here do.
All Mayweather is doing is testing the waters to see if the Khan fight will do very very low numbers remember he's not the best boxer but the best businessman boxing has at this moment beat them when they is old, little or drain them at catch weights or cheat them at catch weights Mayweather Motto
Who cares who "deserves" it more or who's done more lately.. Khan is the better opponent.

i think so, too...
as in my previous post, khan may well be the one to take floyd's 0 out.....
khan has what it takes to get floyd outside his comfort zone...style wise...
Khan can take his CHANCE else were and show the world he can still perform, preferably at 147. Till than I dont give two ****s about his CHANCE agaist the absolute best, when his CHANCE is not even good enough to look good versus weak opponents. On the other hand Maidana has taken his CHANCES and shown more than Khan.
Laughable. Khan can still propel himself at high speed around a boxing ring and land his power shots and combinations. He's been making more mistakes and has been sloppier. Whoopty f*cking doo. He's always been a mistake maker.
It took Floyd ten and a half rounds to get rid of a Ricky Hatton who did the same exact thing for 30 consecutive minutes. Do you think the other people in this equation have never seen a boxing match before? F*ck all that generalizing. If that's all you're going to do we can leave it here.
Disagree TS. 99% of boxing fans across the board think the Floyd/Khan fight is whack. He's getting bashed for it by just about everyone.
Stylistically may Maidana actually potentially be easier for Floyd? Yeah, maybe. Probably even. But Maidana, at least IMO, has done more as of a recent to warrant a fight than Khan. It's not that I think Broner is Floyd or vice versa (that's just ludicrous), but just simply that MM has done more as of late.
Khan got utterly wrecked by Garcia, fought a complete nobody in Molina, and then went absolute life and death in another showcase/tune up fight against Diaz. Not exactly an inspiring path to the biggest payday of his career.
This is exactly it, both fights aren't what we really want but Maidana fight is much more worthy than a Khan fight.
People need to stop with styles makes fight bull***** cliche for Khan. Was his style a nightmare Diaz or Danny Garcia or Lamont Peterson or Prescott but we are supposed to believe now he will show Floyd something he's never seen. He shouldn't be mentioned as a opponent let alone get the fight. Being signed to Golden Boy is his only saving grace of being mentioned; the only way he beats Floyd is if CJ Ross and Duane Ford are two of the judges.
Exactly, styles makes fight when the damn fighter knows how to implement the style right. Clearly Khan does not implement his style right, and gets his ass whooped by much much weaker fighters than Floyd all the time.
:lol1: @ how thick this sh*t is. Many of the people favoring Khan know he hasn't looked good. Maidana getting dominated is a virtual certainty. There's a chance Khan may not be completely roasted. A CHANCE. This is boxing. Khan could come back with the greatest performance of his life in his next match OR he could look even further out the door. We won't know until it happens. What we do know is that Maidana's style is all wrong for Floyd. WTF do we need to see that for? Oh, I forgot. You're both psychic.

Cheers. About what I expected. Obviously the f*cking morons out there have been hard at work. People are going to shell out $69.95 to watch Floyd fast twitch circles around Maidana for twelve. Awesome.
lol...completely agreed.. :)
Hope to god its not Khan, absolutely the most meaningless fight he could take. Has looked horrible in his last 4 fights, no wins at 147, no belt, no nothing, but an imaginary "fan base". No styles dont make fights, when the boxer is as shit as the current Khan. A Khan who C level fighters have no problem with his "style"
Agreed..
these guys call US naive when they are the ones analyzing a khan from 3-4 years ago... and a maidana from before garcia. Forget the last 3 or 4 fights which is the most accurate measure of where each is at in their careers and indicative of their overall development as fighters.
Nostalgic bastards.. nah khan will be analyzed in if he can trouble mayweather more based on a damn memory of how he was than any real assessment of the present. And Maidana's obvious improvements and momentum ignored in favor of a memory of how he WAS.
It remind me of if a dude knew two girls and one was hot the other chubby... but the hot one pumped out some kids and stopped caring and got fat... and the chubby one took some step classes and turned out to be a dimepiece...
THIS ma****a (Khan fans and people picking a khan fight) would still chase the fat one because he remembers how hot she was. Naive aint even the word for them.. delusional might be.
