Check this out... This has to do with the Golovkin fight this Saturday. This is the reason they gave for not broadcasting it:
"After extensive collective efforts, logistics to produce the fight from Monte Carlo could not be resolved. We have tried for the past month to find a way to televise Gennady Golovkin vs. Osumanu Adama on Feb. 1 from Monte Carlo."
yet... International Channels found a way:
"The fight will be on all of the international channels, it just won't be broadcast here in the United States."
yet... HBO couldn't figure out how to make it possible :pat:
"Unfortunately, the venue could not accommodate our production needs. We spent weeks looking at creative ways to produce a telecast for the HBO2 service from Monte Carlo and it simply could not get resolved."
Oh so they couldn't even find alternate creative ways... Wow, how competent is that HBO crew, eh??
They have done it for several fights where they use international signal and add their commentary over it.
If other SMALLER international networks found a way, how couldn't HBO? They are a lying sack of poo.

No one gives a **** about Golovkin beating down some overmatched opponent in a stay busy fight. i say this as a fan of Golovkin.
I would've had no problem if they came forward and stated it exactly like that. I am not too happy with Adama myself to be honest BUT it will be an exciting fight to watch. Entertainment for as long as it lasts. That is must watch TV to me personally whenever you have a guy who is monster and comes to attack.
Also, how to fight better opponents when all the "top" names are ducking Golovkin. Yeah they talk like they want it yet don't take action to make it happen. At least Lou Dibella and Martinez don't hide it.. SOG Scared Of Golovkin hides it behind his fake christian persona..
Well you shouldn't be surprised we rarely get the true version of things, but they are smart to take the position they did even if it was bullsh*t, but coming out and saying it straight up like that would put a dent in their relationship with Golovkin a fighter they do like just not enough to go through trouble to air a fight of him fighting a tomato can. Just like HBO I will watch when he fights someone who can put up a fight again.
I hate watching fights when I already know the outcome before it even starts the only real interest is wondering if the opponent gonna land on his back or on his face nothing entertaining about that .
Ps: If I was Sergio's manager i would be trying to get the money fights too Golovkin too much risk not enough reward, as Ive said about other fighters before, but he needs to keep fighting the best possible opponents which will make him undeniable and people will have to fight him which is deff not freaking Adama. Why no Martin Murray? Ffs that would have been good matchmaking the dude went to damn argentina to fight sergio he is obviously game .
I get where you're coming from but no the color quality of the picture looked washed up.
Don't know what the tell you. They used the same cameras. Perhaps different settings were used. Or the compression used by your cable provider.
Are you sure? I THINK, I may be wrong, that they mentioned they didn't have control of the feed. Could be wrong, probably was for another fight..
Yes, I'm positive. I read a number of articles where Sampson Lewkowics talks about the difficult logistics of having HBO come over and choosing the right location for the fight in Argentina.
Exactly but STILL they went thru with it... I see NO EXCUSE to not broadcast the Golovkin fight.
Martinez has been an HBO staple for years and they owed it to him to do it this one time. It was also part of the deal to get him to sign his exclusive HBO contract. No offence to Golovkin, but Martinez home return was a bigger deal than an Adama fight to go through all that trouble. Golovkin will fight 3 more times this year. They'll be fine. The bigger disgraces are that HBO didn't get fights like Froch vs Bute or Froch vs Groves. Stop crying over freaken Adama.
Again, this is a BS excuse. And it is unacceptable to believe the rest of the world is not up to "American TV Standard"
It's an HBO standard, not an American standard.
The thing here is, they didn't want to dish out money for this fight; plain and simple.
If that's the case, then good. HBO's brand was originally built on buying quality fights, not crappy mismatches.
It's televised in Brazil too.
Again, this is a BS excuse. And it is unacceptable to believe the rest of the world is not up to "American TV Standard" when you have the world's first 4K channel coming from EUROPE. Pleeeaaase. There are thousands of channels originating from all parts of the world with industry standard productions.
The thing here is, they didn't want to dish out money for this fight; plain and simple. Slap to Golovkin's and K2s face... K2 sucks too though. I wish Golovkin was signed to GB, they would do a better job of promoting him.
Good, I'm glad they're not airing this worthless fight. They rather try to televise this than a real fight between GG and DeGeale and take it a step further and put Kirkland in there with GG. I ain't trippin, Im glad I don't have to see this sorry ass fight.
The quality was fine. It probably looked different from what you're used to because it was in an outdoor soccer stadium with a different lighting scheme. HBO brought over their HD truck to Argentina specifically so match the quality from fights in America. They used the same cameras they normally use. One of the reasons why they don't like to do foreign fights is because it's expensive as hell to bring their equipment over.
As for the cutting out, it was raining and shit happens. It's why HBO originally didn't want Martinez to have his fight in an uncovered outdoor stadium.
Some places in Germany and the UK already have quality setups for boxing so it isn't a big deal to use their feeds, but other places aren't as fortunate

Exactly but STILL they went thru with it... I see NO EXCUSE to not broadcast the Golovkin fight. HELL put it on HBO2 for all I care... A network like H-B-freaking-o must have a competent enough staff to figure out how to get it done. I just cannot accept that they couldn't even come up with CREATIVE ways, it's just unacceptable to believe.
I will check out the feeds and post back, and I may be wrong once I see it but I am POSITIVE there will be quality (not just talking about image quality) productions that could have been used.
Just watch the stream if youre so interested in seeing GGG fight another tomato can.
Bro you wanna fight? :boxing: :nono:
I will watch a stream thank you very much, I have no option. I wonder if there is a RELIABLE site where I can pay to get a guaranteed quality feed. Epix or something?
I think it's ridiculous too. I'll take a 2nd round TKO over adama rather than that snoozy, uneventful 12 round wide UD from last week any day. I think mikey is great but man i could barely stay awake for that fight.
Exactly what I was thinking. But the BS excuse they come out with is more annoying. I will check out the feeds from other channels to see if they're not up to par because I'm sure they will be.
Sure... did you happen to catch the Martinez vs. Murray feed? Which looked like crap and was cutting in and out (video and sound at different times). The quality of the image looked washed up as well.

HBO has production standards. They won't used any crappy feed.

I'm sure in today's modern communications field there are competent networks who know how to put together a decent production. I have seen students produce live broadcasts for their College networks that are quality.
They had no motivation really to go through all that trouble to watch Golovkin stump on the walking dead yet again. That's what they are really trying to say here.
