would you rather have a granite chin or 1 punch knockout power?

I would rather be haye then malignaggi but i would value chin over punching power if i could have decent power. Would rather have ok power and a chin like froch then great power and bad chin like hearns or haye.

Give me the granite chin because even the feather fisted can crack a glass jaw

Red K. Tyson had a iron jaw. That should be common knowledge. You had to beat the breaks off him to stop him. Hearns on the other hand......but even he was more durable then a Khan or my all time favorite glass jaw champ in Andrew 6 heads Lewis. Get ya game up playa before you talk that talk. :D Hearns chin was still decent, Tyson's was very good. Every ATG fighter had at least a decent chin, and most had great ones. No matter how good you are you are going to get hit and hit hard at some point.

No it's not, having a physical frailty like a fragile chin or hands etc can be detrimental to your career and no matter by how much you're winning, you can still be stopped at any moment, even by guys who hit at average power. Having a granite chin, allows you to fall back on your natural ability to take a shot and keep coming, allowing you to concentrate on other things in the ring. Look how Lewis and Wlad had to change their styles to suit their very fragile chins, they both became boring robots, too afraid to use their extensive power. Khan now, seems to be concentrating so much on protecting his chin, he has lost the edge which made him so god in years gone by, he looked terrible against Diaz and looked laboured against Molina, who is/was a lightweight. So yeah, I'd rather be an extremely skilled fighter, quick, smart, with feather fists and a great chin than a huge hitting guy who gets stopped all the time if he's not too careful. Heck I haven't even used examples of guys like Hearns or Tyson who could hit as hard as any boxer in history but also had troublesome punch resistance, not fragile chins but pretty close. It depends how good I am in other areas. If I'm a good fighter with speed I'll take the chin as that would make me very hard to beat. If I don't have the boxing skills to win rounds I'll take ten KO power as that gives me a chance against anyone.

you are always in the fight with 1 punch KO power. behind on the scorecards doesn't mean the end of the world but if you have no punching power you can't afford to be behind on the cards...

pardon me for looking at a thread on a boxing site in a boxing context. the TS was talking about street fights? unless you're a tiny little dude, you can stretch somebody if you hit them in the right spot and when they're moving in the right direction. if you're looking to have a successful boxing career, you're better off with a great chin and little power than a big punch and a bad chin. why do you guys always assume that the guy with a good chin is going to be taking punches? we never said the hard hitter was faster, a better boxer, etc. we only said that he has a huge punch and no chin. the same goes to the featherfisted granite chin it's obvious that u're trying your best to save those boring boxers, and mind you, ali is not featherfisted! :rofl: damn u made me laugh! those featherfisted granite chin wont have successful boxing career!

BUT, the KO guy can make more money in a shorter time, and just leave the game after getting KOd a few times on the world class levels. The granite chin guy might have to fight 10 more fights than the power guy to make the same amount of money, all while taking more shots to the head than the KO guy. Dammit, this is too hard. Gun to my head, gimme the KO power, and weak chin if everything else is equal. Hahahaha! Another good point though. its hard to gain respect from the fans when your FF too.

Or is it like a Khan thing, where if you get hit just right, he gets bambi legs, while other fighters can fight through that, and can take a hit that Khan can't take that well.
