So who'll win the rematch? A mirror image of the first fight with Maidana winning fairly comfortably or does Broner somehow get his revenge?
For me it's not a straightforward pick. I scored the first fight 115-111 to Maidana but that was with the knockdowns. I had Broner winning 5 rounds in that fight, it wasn't a complete shut out by Maidana as some people seem to think. If you remove the knockdowns completely it would have been a very close fight but Maidana still probably wins on points, or possibly it could have been a draw.
Difficult one to predict for me, Broner does have the skills to make it very competitive but Maidana has that game-changing power that stopped the likes of Ortiz, Lopez, Soto Karass etc.. I still see it as potentially a very close fight.. but who you got?
Broner needs to start off aggressive and in a no nonsense type manner from the door. Broner doesn't have to move so much. He has to be able move completely out of the way of Maidana's punches and counter real quick. Broner shoulder rolled, but he stood too still. Floyd shoulder rolls, but he also bends, and moves out of the way of punches. Broner isn't a glider, but he has enough skill to move a bit.
He does have enough skill to do that in terms of physical ability but I'm not sure if he has the ring smarts and tactical mind to implement it. If he does do that in the rematch it would be a sure sign of improvement...

IF Broner doesn't stand in front of Maidana like he did in the first fight he has a chance, he was clearly getting to Maidana when he countered him with hard fast shots.
Don't know if Broner can adjust and those knockdowns where products of placement by Maidana after he jabbed Broner to the stomach and then turned it up to the head, good stuff. I'll go on a limb here and say Maidana by decision again, Broner engaging less and staying away as Maidana tries to make a fight out of it.
impossible fight to call broner is the dependent factor. broner has the tools to beat maidana with the right gameplan, but he must not rely on evading punches with his hands down. he was getting caught with the overhand right and left hook almost at will. that being said if he can find a way to let his hands go he is the way faster of the two fighters. he has to get off first if hes going to stand right in front of maidana because when he looked to counter maidana was hurting him to the body and feigning the body and going upstairs. hard to call but if the fight is even remotely close itll go to broner
I think the fact that Maidana got off to a very fast start was critical to the outcome of the first fight. I think Broner has the potential, talant and skill to win a rematch, If the first fight didn't destroy him mentally. This Is a tough fight to call, but I would have to go with Maidana. I just can't see Broner shaking that brutal beating In time for the second fight.
I agree with you as well. Broner needs a new corner!!!! He is in charge and that's his first problem. Floyd Sr. would be an excellent fit for him. Yes?
Hahahahaha! And to think, we sometimes argue! I've been liking your recent posts, man. LoL. I agree too.
floyd sr would be good for him. so would pedro diaz or nacho. his corner is good but you are correct a fresh voice would help him. But until he realizes you can't be a full time boxer and rapper then he will continue to be in trouble.
I agree with you as well.

Is Broner keeping the same trainer?
He was horrible in the first fight.
After second round he kept on repeating ''Relax man'' like 10 times which made Broner even more nervous. Later for some reason he was trying to put Broner's knees together which p!ssed him off :D
Then when he said ''We need a knockdown'', Broner disagreed, that means he even does not respect his trainer's oppinion.
If he wants to win rematch, first thing to do is obvious.
What do you think about his upside and potential to be a great fighter one day? Do you like his chances?
I was very high on Broner. I thought he did some good things vs Paulie even though he didn't meet expectations. But I'm not so surer after the chino fight. Maidana hits hard but his style should have been easy for Broner to pick him apart.
But instead of getting better between fights and improving his footwork and defense he got fatter, drunker, higher, double teamed and worse lyrically. So I don't know.
I give him the benefit of the doubt because his traner is good and he has the business infrasturcture on his team to be a star. I just don't know.
He needs to copy duran and hatton in the ring, not just outside of it between training camps.
I went with Broner by UD. GBP wouldn't be pushing the rematch so soon if they didn't think Broner would fight a smarter fight and win. But who knows with Broner at this point.
I agree.
I tend to agree with you BUT he is talented enough to pull it off. He had no strategy for that fight. He was hopefully humbled as well. I like his attitude now. He gave MM his props after the fight and continues to do so 'till this day. Everyone laughing at the fact that he lost, needs to grow up. He showed tremendous heart. He's a REAL fighter and made me a fan. Besides, that fight with him and Chino did over 2million homes. He just may be the next pay-per-view star after all. I am about to watch it for the 10th time right now.
He might not have the smarts at this point, or the punch output, what he does has is natural fighting instincts, stamina, and deceptive power. He hurt Maidana several times in the fight and almost had him out in the 11th and 12th rounds. MM gave him his props on power and toughness after the fight and you should do the same. If he brings a brain to the ring, he wins the rematch.

That, my friend if a very big 'if'.
Asking AB to grow a brain in 12 weeks?
I'm not so sure....:frown:
Broner will win a close and controversial decision this time out. No real reason why. This is just how these things tend to go historically. Golden Boy and Haymon are not going to just throw away their next star. Unless Broner ends up "injured".
I disagree with people who say the last fight was close.
Maidana won 8 rounds, probably gave up 2 rounds in the middle to reserve energy for the championship rounds.
Broner was on the floor twice in the fight, and hurt badly a number of times through the first 4 rounds.
Broner just is not the kind of personality to reflect on his shortcomings as a fighter and develop a game plan to win a re-match. He will continue to party, rap and abuse himself physically. In simple terms I do not believe he has the mental strength to cut out all the distractions, his brain is just not wired that way.
Say what you like about FMJ - he lives and trains like a true champ.
Broner has some skill and ability, but he lacks focus and application.
If you watch his previous fights he loves to show boat and talk trash at his opponents, funny how all that stopped when he was decked in round 1 against Chino.
I think that as soon as Maidana lands his first hard, clean shot on Broner's chin, all Broner's fears and doubt's will return and he will be in the same deep water he found himself in last December.
That said, if it goes the distance then I'd really worry for Maidana, he needs the KO to be 100% sure otherwise he will likely be robbed.
Smh again.
If Maidana couldn't break him the first time, why would he be able to do it this time? Broner appears to be built for combat. You all are delusional and don't want to give him credit for that fact. Anyway, he can definatley win this rematch with a couple of adjustments. Maidana is STILL a C Level fighter who throws wide, wild, looping shots. Stop trying to make him better than what he is.
Im rooting for maidana ofc. Broner will have to work on his footwork ALOT and head movement. He was eating all them delicious looping wild shots all night long
