I favor these guys over anyone at the best weight and prime...everyone1) Ali when he reach the late 60s is a heavyweight i dont see losing to anyone in his prime...He could punch, was hard to hit, the movement, and a great chin and heart. the closest you get to unbeatable at the weight
2) Roy Jones: from 160-168 during his peak from 95-98 i dont see anyone beating this version of Jones. It would take an all time great naturally larger lightheavyweight to beat him and it would have to be by knockout. Too much speed, power, elusiveness and he also could take a punch at his peak
3)Ray Robinson...no need to explain...the prototype of what a balanced fighter or a fighter period should have
4) Pernell Whitaker at lightweight I would favor over everyone at 135...Leonard, Duran, etc. he made it look easy against world class fighters and didnt lose a clear fight til his 30s
5)Henry Armstrong....around the time he won the 126 title and til he lost the 147 title to zivic I would be hard pressed to think of a featherweight, a lightweight, and may be one(Robinson) at 147 who could beat him at his best
not the sterotypical fancy dan as the other 4 but his combination of speed, power, reflexes and strength was unparallel for the man of his stature

You saw Armstrong AND Robinson at their peaks???
LOL I think your title is very misleading.
based on what u have seen with my own eyes since watching boxing the past ten years
my era
1)rigondaux that beat doniare
this is the best fighter ive ever witnessed i even saw it live and was simply amazed at how he toyed with such an elite fighter i dont think anyone floyd pac anyone could have done that
2)pacquiao ...2009 hatton cotto wins
pure machine reminded me of a prime duran no way floyd beat this guy
3)floyd - dlh =-hatton wins
props to floyd the way he beat a prime ricky hatton floyd was pretty much unbeatable here this floyd vs 09 pac woulda been insane
the rest are far behind
bhop
calzaghe
ward
doanire
martinez
Roy.....never seen anyone else close to being unbeatable!!...Hop is my main man and Floyd has my utmost when it comes to boxing abilities....but they couldn't match what Roy had in his prime imo....prime Roy is the best I've ever seen!!
I will only speak on fighters whose prime I actually saw.
I'm not his biggest fan but you almost have to go with roy. Floyd and Ricardo Lopez are next. But roy always did seem too much for anyone at or around his weight.
odd question. robinson just isn't that well filmed during his prime. stuff is popping up slowly, but there aren't any complete fights from the heart of the 40's of which i am aware.
he's well filmed at middleweight, but that's after a very long career and at a higher weight. he's still one of the best MW of all time, incidentally.
147 lb robinson is less flawed than ali was. ali was a HW, and though he had a great chin, he could be tagged and hurt because of the size of his opponents. ali wasn't a great HW puncher either. he had power, but so does every other athletic 200lb + guy.
my vote goes for robinson. he's history's least flawed fighter. he had all time great power in both hands, speed, and one of the best chins ever. he was aggressive and could be hit, but he made up for it with his chin, meanness, and power.
It's at their peak and losing doesn't matter that much.. Srr, ali, Louis all lost in their primes....
I guess it's debatable whether or not they actually lost in their primes. I think SRR is the only obvious one who did, but fighting every other weak against the best - You'll lose to someone eventually.
I don't think his 127-1-2 record will ever be rivaled in the sport of boxing.
Joe Louis really came into his own after he won the championship and I don't think anyone would claim Ali was in his prime vs Frazier.
But I understand what you mean.
If I had to pick one, I'd say Ali around '65-'66 - He was the perfect fighter. Never seen anything like it. SRR would be a close second, but most of the fights he had in his true prime were never aired - so it's hard to judge.
Others for me include RJJ, SRL, Whitaker, Duran, Andre Ward (yes I said it), Tyson and a couple of others.
that 160 lb version of jones he was good, but he wasn't superman yet...
i think prime marv (pre destruct and destroy marv) would have tracked him down, especially that version of jones that beat hopkins...hopkins lost because he was just too defensive minded...marv wouldn't have had that problem...but you know i am biased like that...lol
Stop yourself
This discussion is what makes boxing so compelling in my eyes. If fighters truly test themselves then no one fighter is unbeatable. Fighters can have every attribute, but on the night their 'inferior' opposition can defy the odds.
In recent memory, Lennox Lewis looked invulnerable. A motivated, in-shape Rahman caught a distracted Lewis and proved having the edge in every department doesn't remove the human element. The intangibles such as training camp, personal relationships or injuries/illness are what make this sport compelling. Roy jones jr, felix Trinidad (going into the Hopkins fight), Kelly pavlik (going into the Hopkins fight), these were fighters were I couldn't see a loss on the horizon untill it happened. I never would have thought Dariusz michalczewski would have lost to Gonzalez but anything can happen with any fighter on any given night.

losing means nothing to me it happens when you test yourself against the best ... manny pacquiao and julio cesar chavez can be added to the list
Ok fair enough

might as well mention pacquiao if your going with tyson who lost in his prime sweet pea who lost in his prime and odh who lost in his prime
What are your top 5 fighters?.. You disparage others lists but don't post on of your own.. Would love to know..
And you mentioned Duran won the bigger fight between him n Srl, but Duran lost in his prime so he gets discarded
Finito Lopez, Roy Jones, LW Shane (bias), Floyd (ughhh...), and ovviously, being of Mexican descent El Gran Campeon at one point. I honestly thought he was unbeatable. I'm a huge Pernell fan but I remember being worried for him damn near every fight I dunno why lol.
We're talking fighters we followed "live" right not out of "ever"?
might as well mention if your going with tyson who lost in his prime sweet pea who lost in his prime and odh who lost in his prime
